My sister and I stayed at an air bnb in Harndorf in June (ish) last year and we had a coffee and sat out the front of the cafe next door to this art shop. Thanks for the tour it brought back many nice memories!
Hi Becky, what a fun and quaint art store. They really did fill up a small area with a lot of art supplies without seeming overcrowded. Thank you for taking us on your tour.
Art and food are my favorite things, too! You know how there are 'Sip & Paint' events? Well, there should also be 'Eat & Art' events. Who's with me? Your art shop tours are delightful, Becky. Thanks for sharing the joy!
Love the art stores. I want to go shop now but I have enough paint etc. my credit cards would get a good workout. I would love to sit and paint in the paint room. Very pretty! 💜💜💜
There's always something to buy in an art shop, whether I need it or not, haha! Yes, I am with you on that one...the rooms there have a wonderful ambience for creating. ❤
Becky, thank you for a wonderful tour of the little art supply store! I love art supply stores, I think I could live in one 😅 In the part of California that I live in, brick and mortar art supply stores are almost non existent. They closed doors a long time ago, what with the inflation and raising of the cost of rent. I have to drive for two hours to San Francisco to get to see art supplies in person 😕 Anyway, I use Schmincke soft pastels (among other high quality brands) and I adore them. They’re like butter! 🥰 BTW, I know Charvin has also a set of soft pastels, I have no idea whether they are professional grade, or student, but I heard they are water soluble and they can be used as a ‘watercolor’ background for a pastel painting. Never tried it myself, though.
It's so sad when physical stores shut down! Art supplies need to be looked at in person, to really decide on which items to buy. Especially paper! I don't know much about Charvin at all, but I'd love to try some of their products. Interesting about the soft pastels!
@@BeckyTregear I totally agree, Becky, regarding the personal, tactile and visual aspect of buying art supplies. We artists are all about visual and tactile! And personal.
BTW if you ever come to Perth again, you'll have to check out Deckle on Grantham street in Wembley. Run by an artist Juanita. You'd love it, old building lots of light and a huge space for her gallery and painting classes. It's a small selection but well curated.
Another beautiful video Becky. It is really hard going to an art supplies store and not being tempted to buy half the shop 🤣 I own some Charvin oils and I absolutely love them. By the way, those B & B brushes you mentioned are Borciani e Bonazzi, high end Italian brushes.
We were in Hahndorf yesterday... Hahndorf Inn has the best food.... and lot's of store's. I may have picked up a few goodies...mainly from the lollie shop xxx. I have been in this art store mant times... im only 30 minutes away from Hahndorf xxx❤❤
Nice! We also had a few meals at the Hahndorf Inn while we were there for a few days. It's my favourite place to eat there! Lolly shops there are good too. 😆
something like that set up is my lotto dream. There were three empty shops down the road from me for years that would have been perfect and I loved to imagine what it would be like to run them... now they are a burger shop and a wine bar... but I can still dream
Lovely surprise video and fantastic little art shop!! I love that it has a café next to it also! ooohhh I can't wait to see what you bought what I peeked looked very intriguing indeed! :D
I always love your artshop tours Becky. And guess what? I just have a previously loved Charvin set on its way to me! There are mixed reviews up on their watercolours, but I want to make up my own mind. This looks a lovely little store, great to see a café next door. Only thing missing to make it A+ is a bookshop🖌☕📚
Oh that's great, I'm so curious to know what their watercolours are like! One day I shall buy a set, but they're expensive though! A bookshop as well....I'd never leave, lol!
Yes, I looked into buying Charvin watercolours, but the reviews were not tempting at all and there were not many reviews to look at. I think, historically, their efforts have gone into their oil paints rather than the watercolours. So many other excellent watercolours for that price.
I want to see more about those French oil paints. I am currently doing an oil painting and honestly it is my favorite medium. I am finally going to go the The Art Shop in Bayswater on Saturday. I haven't been to the current site and I only went to the old one, once in 2020, when you could only have a few people in the store at one. I am actually excited to be going and it is silly as it is local.
I love oil painting as well! Oooh I hope you have fun at The Art Shop! I haven't been for a little while....after this trip I am trying to recoup some money and not be entirely broke, lol.
What a charming little store! And next to a cafe at that! I am really looking forward to your haul. I am on a moderately failed no-buy myself, so don't watch most hauls these days. However, I always love your content and your unique spin on things, so I let myself indulge in your hauls.
I can completely understand that! My upcoming video also includes a lot of souvenirs so it's kind of a mixed haul with art supplies in there too. No buy? More like YES Buy! 😂😂 And now I'm broke, lol.
That is a cute little store! Thank you for sharing it with us :) Btw, that picture of the room with you in the mirror is adorable! 😃 Also, did I spot a kitty mug there at the end? 🤔
Haha thank you! 😆 Yes that's a kitty mug and I have no memory of where it came from, lol. I feel like I bought it in a charity shop? How can I not remember that? 😂
Went here many years ago. They just had the art materials shop. A bit disappointing as the young chap in the store was a uni student who only knew about oils and had been smoking pot. V strong smell and he was out the back smoking it most of the time we were in the store.
You're pronouncing Charvin just fine :) I'm French and I can tell you you wouldn't be impressed with their watercolors... they are oddly very expensive and made with fillers and white pigments in most colors. I regret buying my 12-set. They don't even compare to Sennelier's student line... I can't speak to their acrylics and oils though.
I was there a month ago and th young man who was serving me took a phone call, he then started filling her order with her on the phone and proceeded to ignore me. Didn’t say excuse me or ask her if he could call her back. I walked out and spent my money elsewhere.
"I feel like II'm going bankrupt just by looking at these stuff." That's funny. And sooo relatable as well. Thanks for another nice art shop tour. 😊

A very quaint and adorable art store. Thanks for giving us a tour. I love the old apothecary cabinets and shelves.
That store alone is one of the strongest reasons why I want to move to Hahendorf. Plus the orange leaves in winter 🍂.
@@awatercolourist It is really pretty up there! The busy traffic on weekends and holidays would get annoying though!
