Quick overview and basic set up guide of the EHEIM Classic 150.
According to me the Classic 150 is the best choice for a nano tank in this price range. Easy construction, good build quality and reliable working.
When you set up your new external filter, make sure you follow this these steps:
1. Place the blue sponge on the bottom to protect bio media from getting stuck
2. Use these bio filter media: EHEIM Substrat Pro, ADA Bio Rio, Seachem matrix, Sera siporax, plain lava stone
3. Make sure to secure the pipes when you connect them
4. When you ready with the set up, prefill the filter with water to have a chance for an easy start

I enjoy your videos, but you missed the entirety of actually installing the pump hoses and priming it to pump water.

Exactly! I’m a total beginner and really need to find a video to set up an external filter for dummies like me. I can’t find anything online and am so lost. This video was such a tease and doesn’t really help meeee :-(

Actually for Eheim Classic filters setting up and priming is easy provided the right steps are followed. The video in that link makes it so much easier and fun too. I got my new Classic 150 primed in 1 under a minute!

Dont really know if you're gonna read this but, just in case. Im setting up a 37L tank ( 30L after scaping ) for a betta and im wondering if this filter is ok or its too much flow for a betta to live with.

Hey just letting you know in case you were still wondering, the pump is rated for 300 l / h which is a turnover of 10 times. Bettas generally want much less flow than that and even though the real world performance might be around 150 l / h it may still be too much with 30 l water.

I have a very nice experience with Sera Siporax. And not expensive, too. This filter would be good filled with this stuff, for your nano.

Beautiful videos. Almost watched all of them. I have Fluvalflex 34 litres, i am gonna change the filter to Eheim canister type. The stock filter and pump just does not live up to it. Was looking at classic 150. What u think?

Eheim says on their website that this is suitable from 50L to 150L. Out of curiosity, do you disagree? I’m asking because I can see you say it’s ideal up to 30L tank. Thanks
I think this filter is suitable for nano tanks. Up to 60liter

Out of curiosity, wouldn't this be a better option for your nanotank jungle ? I saw you use a 250 for that one. Isn't a 150 enough ? Or are the model numbers absolutely e relevant? Trying to find which eheim i should buy for a 40 litre tank !
Eheim classic 150 is more than enough for 30 litre tank, Classic 250 a little overkill.

Actually clear hoses are nice for first month, then they look so dirty. Instead, if you have an aquarium full of plants, you won't notice the presence of green hoses.
Agreed but also you can see when you need to clean them and that's a good thing

@thecinescaper I really appreciate this video (as I do all of yours) I'm going to buy two of these. What would you say is a good alternative to the ADA Bio Rio? I understand it has live bacteria in it, so I guess that's why you suggest it. But I'm not finding a good alternative for it. Thanks for all you do.
