A lovely trip down memory lane for me. It's been 27 years since I was last in Kendal, back in my fell walking days. These days I consider it an achievement if I get to the top of the stairs, never mind Harrison Stickle up there in beautiful Langdale. Loved the busker singing A Pair of Brown Eyes. Great video. Thank you.

My family were cloth traders from this region. I was so thrilled to see that they are noted as donors for the town hall renovations on the information plaque. (Bindloss) .Cheers for that...

@@msmilano7091 I,m from Kendal (born & bred) moved away 24yrs ago and still keep in touch with my friends. They all say the same that Kendal is nothing like it used to be - for the worse too. Terrible shame as it was a buzzing town.

@@wilsp It’s true. 10 years ago, it was still that way. It was beautiful.
Sadly it has been so neglected that there is no reason for anyone to be there now.
Although, I moved away last year and there are quite a few things about it that I do miss
….but it’s still nothing like it was. It had everything going for it and now it’s barren….I hope one day, we will see it back in it’s glory.

I grew up in Kendal, Left when I was about 20 in 88. Some of the roads go the opposite way now. The grass near the river at the beginning use to be a car park. McDonald's is in the same place, I remember when they first opened. I think my favorite place was the library as a kid.

Trainers looking very good. You must have been them in, they are quiet now. Love the look of Kendal. We have decided to visit places to buy the foods made there. Melton Mawbray ( pork pie) Bakewell ( pudding) etc. Think Kendal must go on that list for its mint cake. Did you like the mint cake Neil? That is if you tried it. Another lovely video. Think I must make that trip. ❤

Me and my wife just got married in Gretna Green on the weekend, we had our honeymoon on the way home which was 2 nights in Kendal, neither of us had visited Cumbria before but it's videos like this (if not this very video) that made us wish to check out Kendal - the exit off the M6 down when exiting for Kendal last Sunday (forgot the junction number) was akin to the opening to The Shining (1980) though, which was cool/the topography of Kendal's amazing.

Don't eat too much Kendal Mint Cake. I used to make it 30+ years ago, and it's 90% sugar......... Blue wrapper = white mintcake, Red wrapper = brown mintcake. There is a slight difference in texture and taste. You can also get chocolate coated mint-cake. I felt drawn to watch your video, despite living in Kendal for 57 years before I moved to one of the little outlying villages, 5 miles from Kendal almost 10 years ago......

Very nice and interesting town, with plenty of space everywhere and little alleys connecting different parts of the town. However, what struck me was in spite of it being so spacious and uncongested that there were hardly any cyclists, l saw just 2, plus 2 mobility scooters and one scooter, even though there were bike racks for parking ! Seems strange, as in a town of that size, hilly in parts too, that not many people cycle, and surely a much quicker way to get around the place !!

Nice video, although no nostalgia value for me as either the place has changed considerably since I was last there (which was a very long time ago, so very probably) or my mental map of the town is just wildly inaccurate as the only places I recognised were Kendal Library and the river and rest of the time I hadn't the slightest clue as to where you were so you might as well have been wandering round some place I've never been to before. And while I'm still none the wiser from your video whether the cake shop that sold cream filled coffee puffs is still there, it was nice to note that they have a CEX (as that's my favourite shop).
