    Great lesson! Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the work and time you put into it. Is it possible to have play play along tracks for the entire range similar to the long tone ones?

      Eric Mwangi thanks man for taking the time to watch and comment! How high (and low) would you want the long tones play along to go?

      @ericmwangi8473 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually start at the low G, Miss the C# and reply the video up to F#. I go as high as third level C. Actually cant wait for the long tones masters class so I can try and go higher consistently.

    How is your ear? Can you sing or internally make up a line never sung or played before and play it accurately no matter the length of the ideal? This is what Wes and others could do. Truly in the moment lines!

      Traveling man I have a pretty good ear 🙂 improvising is just like speaking our native tongue. We learned words and phrases but every conversation is unique. We’ll say the same words or phrases but in a different way...connect them differently...say them differently by placing emphasis on different words. Same thing with improvisation. Some of the stuff that the greats were playing aren’t always new or even original but played in a different context that sounds like a fresh idea. Why do you ask? 🙂

      I think what scares academics are things they cant explain ! Try to allow for that dimension of thinking. You are quite methodical!

      Traveling man In my own practice and teaching, I try to provide some type of structure in order to keep track of the tasks at hand. But it’s also important to let go of the exercises and just play...see and hear what naturally comes out. Playing exercises is only an extreme version of performance. I play exercises in order to play as free as possible. But we have to remember that playing exercises are useless if we don’t apply them to a musical setting. I’m only academic after the fact. After i hear something from a recording, i play it, and then I analyze it to create a concept that I can easily understand...so I can use that idea for myself and/or teach it to someone else.

    Hi, i want to start with the trumpet. I'm right handed, and also I'am a guitarrist. As a right handed guitarrist, the fingers of my right hand are pretty fast, so it's really uncomfortable for me to play a regular trumpet with my right hand. What can i do?

    • @TheBlackTrumpeter
      @TheBlackTrumpeter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lazousaruck you should be fine if you’re right handed because that’s the hand we use to press down the valves 🙂 unless you meant to say you’re left handed???

    • @lazousaruck
      @lazousaruck 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No sir, i'm right handed, but i feel so dumb while pressing down the valves.

    • @TheBlackTrumpeter
      @TheBlackTrumpeter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lazousaruck interesting 🤔 if you’re right handed why do you feel dumb just pressing down valves?

    • @lazousaruck
      @lazousaruck 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Black Trumpeter i think it's because the electric guitar. My fingers in my left hand are really fast, but when i play the trumpet with my right hand it's really hard.
