We love your travels...Cartmel looks a nice little place...The dogs look very happy no fireworks hurray..A peaceful evening with local beers and a working satellite dish for you hopefully...We look forward to the next post..Thanks Bob Jenny Poppy and Tara.
Love Cartmel, in fact all the Lake District, especially the dog friendly set up. We stayed in a house just up the road past the racecourse when we got married last October. Really nice place. And that little square behind the wine shop! A brewery, a bakery, a cheese shop and a wine shop with a load of tables in the middle of the square: Heaven! The guy in the cheese shop sold me a cheese where apparently they cover the cow fields in the extract from the whiskey malts - was a very good cheese!
Well, that was a nice day out. 👍 Thanks for taking us along. 🧀🍺 Good to see the Lake District when it isn't raining ☔ and Tara is so adorable in her basket. 🐶
You two really make me chuckle. .....jenny you say turn right ,Bob says left ,sat nav says something completely different 😂 A most enjoyed trip out ,as for that food yum yum 👍💞
Hi Bob and Jenny. We're at Meathop Fell between Christmas and New Year. Looks like a visit to Cartmel will be on the agenda. Looking forward to the rest of this series for some more ideas. John & Sandy
It looks lovely there, and as you said, with a cheese shop next to a brewery, what more could you want? Going by that pastie that man had, it looks like there's a good bakery nearby too. Those burgers looked good, that was a large onion ring on the top! Thanks.
Beautiful village, my brother goes to the lakes every year and will tell him about this place. Just wondering Bob how hard is it to reverse the motorhome while attached to the car?.
Thanks, Cartmel is nice. I have been asked about reversing the car before, and here is the answer from Mike Northeast from Tow A Frame; "Mist power braked systems can be reversed but the front wheels can't be made to steer in reverse so requires more force to reverse and more chance of damage - this can't be changed as that is how the car steers in the forwards direction. Tow A frame do have our new patented device which allows the A frame to be left on and attached at the car end but secured/suspended in the vertical position for manoeuvring - that would enable you to quickly disconnect and turn both vehicle around separately if a U turn is not feasible, as with most Tow systems there are some drawbacks, in reverse the load on the tow eye differs and it applies outward force on the TOW pins, this can weaken them as its not the direction they are designed to work in, in addition if you jack knife the combination while reversing you may damage the A frame and or the towing system - for these reasons we advise unless in emergency you take the time to disconnect the combination and manoeuvre both vehicles separately. This would reduce the chance of damage. mail mike@smart-tow.com for more info or if you have any questions. thanks Mike"
@@davidtaylorbfd Having said that in 4 years that I've been using it, and bear in mind I've done about 20k miles with it, there have been 2 occasions when I needed to reverse 10 yards or so and both were done without any drama.
Hi Bob and Jenny. Going to Meathop Fell in the New Year. Do you know if motorhomes can park at the racecourse car park in Cartmel? Any parking for motorhomes in Grange over Sands? Thanks, Steve.
Carmel Racecourse is a fairly big car park, maybe park on 2 spaces if you got there early. The road in is narrow. We went in a car. There's a good car park in Grange off the promenade. There's a video I did on The Highlands and Islands Tour. It's at 22 Thornfield Road according to Park4Night app. Look for the bottle bank.
What kind of racing is held there ? Now - I know in 1856 England there was no NASCAR or FORMULA 1 vehicles to race against each other ....... Another question : does Great Britain have and hold yearly or seasonal auto -races ? I know of the Grand Pre - Formula 1 races - I just do not know when they are or were they are .......
It's horse racing, apparently been doing it there since 1198. The British Formula 1 Grand Prix is in July at Silverstone in Northampton, since 1948. Around 5,000 motor sport events take place every year in the UK, meaning that there are often dozens of events running nationwide on any given weekend during the season.
Sweet video guys. Happy times. Your doggys are gorgeous too 👍🏻
A great tour round a lovely village. The sun and blue skies always help lol ;))
6:48 I remember hitting 60 mph on my push-bike coming the other way after a ride out from Meathop, as you say it's quite a hill.
Wow
Great vidio looks a nice place to visit and a very nice day weather wise for you all 👍

No sticky toffee pudding!
No, I'm more of a cheese and beer man. :-)
