Making my way through your videos, loving how you keep your meals so simple, and aren’t afraid to use tinned foods, proving it doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated to heat healthy, going to be trying the wraps out :)
Thanks for the recipes! As a vegetarian runner it is great to have access to this kind of reliable advice from someone like yourself. I think regular nutrition advice would go down really well 🙂
Great video. Contemplating trying a Vegan diet for a month to see the affect on my health and training, so really appreciate seeing what you eat during the day. Keep the food suggestions coming as variety is one of the areas that is holding me back.
Loved the video Ben! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. Nutrition and fueling is such an important part of running and I loved seeing how someone else goes about eating throughout the day.
Yeah, great run. Got my Clifton 5's now.. loving them so far! Will be back up this week, probably Tues / Wed / Thurs, so if you want to head out again let me know. Plus see how Sean is fixed as well!
Hi great video, add a spoon each of ground flax seeds and chia seed onto your breakfast cereal and dried coconut and extra goodness a chopped up banana. I've started taking spirulina tablets too and these have made a difference.
Hey! I do normally add Chia seeds to my breakfast, I was just at my Dads house to make this and couldn't find anything!! Haven't tried flax seeds, but will look at those, thank you for the tip! I've tried Spirulina, but didn't really notice any difference for me. Good that it worked for you though. All the best and thank you for the support!
Ben Parkes Yes! Thank you, all good with me, enjoying running right now a lot! Love the idea of the shakes over standard powders. Would love to know more and what wealth of alternatives there are
Maybe I'll have to make an 'alternatives to shakes' video shortly. Shakes do have their place, they are convenient, readily available in shops or mix at home when you're short on time. But they usually have a lot of extra items in that I have no idea what they are.. and usually a lot of sugar. So try my best to use whole foods when I'm at home, so you know what's in your food.
Would love to see more nutrition tips, regular everyday nutrition and whatnot. I recently got into running and love the training/injury prevention tips. I'm working on the 5K with the help of your free guide.
I really enjoyed these recipes! Try soaking the cashews in warm water for a while and then drain before making the sauce = creamyness level over 9000! ;) keep it up mate!
Hey! I don't massively obsess over protein... I have a lot of beans / pulses /nuts ... so Lentils, chickpeas, almonds. Hemp seeds are good, chia seeds.. always put them on my breakfast. Have a lot of nut butters too! Fats are avocados (pretty much daily!) EV olive oil, olives.. more nuts and seeds, tofu.. Hope that helps!
Btw the blender spilled everywhere cause with those blenders they have a max limit and when you go over it it spills. Really funny to watch cause I have one at home and I knew it was gonna happen.
Hi! Awesome and very inspirational videos for us runners out in the world. Howdo you manage to be on top with iron stores? I have some problems with those so i am curious if you take any supplements regularly ?
Hey.. I have a lot of green vegetables, like spinach and kale, which are good natural sources. Plus beans, lentils, tofu, baked potatoes.. I don't take any iron supplements at the moment, as my recent blood tests showed my iron levels were ok.
Going to try the pasta with the family, what Shoes did you ware on your morning run the looked like the Arahi 2. Also do you make training plans for push rim? My middle son has some special needs and I am getting a chair I can push him in for half and full marathons, that is why I am asking about push rim training plans.
Hi Brent, They were Bondi 5's in the video. Using them and the Clifton 5's at the moment. I make all sorts of specific training plans for people. If you have a look on my website. www.benparkes.com and go to the coaching tab. It's the Bronze option and you can select how long you need the plan made for. Any questions just drop me a message! All the best.
Granola…full of sugar, far better to go for muesli. Same for tinned baked beans. Sugar is very bad for you, especially long term. Messes your gut biome. When you are young, you can get away with it, but will still do far better if you limit sugary stuff. Porridge is good, but not before a run, soak overnight. Add a good spoonful of pea & rice protein powder, also makes it more creamy
Hey! Yes.. I probably need around 5000 calories a day with the exercise I do.. I don’t count calories and just eat what I think is correct. But yes, it’s more than a person exercising an average amount. All the best with your running journey! 🙌
He included nuts, seeds, beans, and grains, all of which provide plenty of great quality protein. Our bodies don’t need nearly as much protein as we think they do.
I actually think what he's eating looks fine. Yeah he eats a lot, and a lot of fruit but not excessive amounts of fruit nor particularly high GI fruits and it's not that dried or processed fruit. Fruit in its natural state is fine. Party rings not so much, but I don't imagine he does that every day, and once in a while wouldn't cause problems.
His body uses up a lot of glucose while running so it's totally normal for him as a runner to eat a lot more carbs/sugar than other people.yes he does eat a lot of fruit and carbs but that's essential to aid in his running
but you're not a vegan. you say on your website you're a vegetarian who "tries" to follow a mostly plant-based diet. it's a lifestyle and a philosophy of causing minimal harm to others. maybe just don't call yourself a vegan runner if you aren't truly a vegan runner. (we exist out there.)
As far as I'm concerned, if he eats plant based for a day then he can make a vegan running diet video. In much the same way if someone who eats meat has a day with no animal products that's a step in the right direction. Don't make veganism elitist and inaccessible to new people, wearing it like a badge and telling people they're not doing enough. Not useful or kind.
Party Rings, the biscuit connaisseur's choice... :-) Great video as ever, even for a carnivore...
Thanks David! Party Rings are one of the few vegan biscuits there are, always loved them!!

Thank you Jessica. There will be plenty more to come in the future. Thanks for the support!

Stefan Dumbleton did you try it? I’ve been vegan 6 years and I run a lot, I love it.
I also make what I eat in a Day videos.
Loved the video Ben! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. Nutrition and fueling is such an important part of running and I loved seeing how someone else goes about eating throughout the day.
Glad you liked it Kevin! Will be doing some more coming up in the future. All the best.
Man really said “going for a short run only 6k” bruh my legs get dead after 3k 😂😂
Good to see you Ben - nice to catch up. See you next time you're up this way.
Yeah, great run. Got my Clifton 5's now.. loving them so far! Will be back up this week, probably Tues / Wed / Thurs, so if you want to head out again let me know. Plus see how Sean is fixed as well!
Oh great - i'll check with Sean and let you know.

How was the pasta though??? It looked amazing.

Another nice video! I was wondering if running and video blogging/producing was your main job or do you also have a 9-5?
Great content. Am enjoying your channel!

hi Ben, I'm from jakarta Indonesia, really enjoy your videos, hoping your videos come out every day
What are your main sources of protein and fats generally Ben?
Ben Parkes perfect response Ben, really appreciate that!
The granola for breakfast, how long does that stave off hunger?
Btw the blender spilled everywhere cause with those blenders they have a max limit and when you go over it it spills. Really funny to watch cause I have one at home and I knew it was gonna happen.

Yay i don’t know you were vegan, that’s lit! So am I!
You're a golfer and a runner! me too. Well, an average runner and a very average golfer. Thanks for the great food tips
Good video, all though the music is louder than your voice. It would be nice if it was the other way around.
thebearujb yes.. was very new to making TH-cam videos back then.. things have improvised a bit since hopefully! Glad you enjoyed the video 😀
You are so motivating! Keep up the good work :)
Awww, thank you! Happy running!

Bro's eating Chicken yesterday on Strava...
Umm..that granola has honey in it?
i know some vegans aren't too bothered about honey
Did you ever check the added sugar content of your granola, milk and especially the beans. Also probably in your wraps.
Nice to see eating watermelon with a recovery drink. I was afraid you would blend watermelon into the drink ...
Love the vid. The reason it spilled was its over filled. Lol
Haha.. Probably true, I'm not that good in the kitchen!
I’m vegan too 🌱 Wondering about the eggcarton though 🤔
Lesley Verhoef cooking at my Dads house.. he eats anything and everything!
Sometimes I think people who do this type of video intentionally make different meals for the purpose of the video LOL
#nohat
Haha.. a rare glimpse of the hair!
Oh dear, overfilled the Nutribullet. We've all been there
why have you got egg in your kitchen? are you not vegan ?
Pasta is looking good. I eat it everyday, it’s the Italian in me lol 😆

OMG you eat a lot and so slim😊 I don’t eat half of what you are eating a day and consider myself overweight. You motivating me for running 🏃♀️

Amazing ! You can cook like a pro also;)
all in one day??? delicious butvery expensive i guess
Not enough protein at all..
He included nuts, seeds, beans, and grains, all of which provide plenty of great quality protein. Our bodies don’t need nearly as much protein as we think they do.
You need to get tested for insulin resistance mate.
