I will say online schooling will need a serious overhaul to work long-term. My son spent his senior year of high school online and graduated a few weeks ago and his take was that the year was a waste of time. Had he worked full time the whole year, it would have been better than going to school online. There was no instruction, just hundreds of assignments and videos. Interacting took time to ask questions and then wait for the answers, which may require additional time to ask new questions and wait for answers. So the process was extremely slow. If online teaching is to work long-term, they will have to take a look at everything and maybe even re-imagine.

I love your optimism about the retirement system in Germany. If you google "average pension in Germany" you get a theoretical value (Eckrente) of 1500 Euro and a real value of 1200 Euro. Without private savings you might be able to avoid starvation, but you can not live on that. The problem to keep the buying power of savings is as burning here as elsewhere. A 50 square meter condo including utilities will cost you around 650 Euro, 1 gallon of gas is 5 Euro or 6 US$.

@@tatagata6268 No, I'm merely saying that it's an issue. Just think about it logically.
In Year 1, you have 100 working people who pay 100 in taxes combined and 100 retirees getting 100 pensions.
In year 10, you have 90 working people who pay 90 in taxes and 110 retirees getting 110 in pensions.
That's either a big deficit, or a big tax increase.
I personally don't mind high taxes (Belgium) if it guarantees people to have food and a roof over their head but there is always a cost. And the danger of the entire system collapsing because politicians refuse to either increase taxes or decrease benefits
      grows every year.

    • @tatagata6268

@@magnoem1 it is an issue no doubt. I think the relation of worker to pensioner ignores productivity gains. in the early1900s 38% of the work force in Germany worked in agriculture, today its more like 5%. Ships were unloaded by men carrying the goods today one truck driver moves 25 tons, compared to a horse wagon.
Who has pocketed the productivity gains?
By the way part of the discussion is along the lines people get always older. Life expectany for men born in 1960 in Germany is below 70 (statista), these are the people who can start retirement at 67. The fabulous average ages of 90 are predictions for people born in 2050. My father died at 69, my father in law at 67, to add some real life examples. I just looked up history of productivity, increased in rough numbers 3 times per working hour since 1970 (Germany). I get the gut feeling, there is an issue of distribution of the wealth in the society.

The pandemic will have no effect on the US economy, as their pension fund is worth 19 trillion, inheritance tax is 40% 7.2 trillion, it was a done deal, do yous all believe CV just appeared out of the blue, plus the US has one of the highest death rates in the world, insidious! Do the numbers gentleman. One in six is a pensioner, it takes four people to be working and paying taxes to cover the pension fund. Plus as inflation rises who's the people most effected the elderly. Your government like the UK who also has one of the highest death rates are after the pension fund.

I only know of a couple who have been affected by COVID 19. I have asked most of these 10,000 people about their experience and it's exactly the same. The odds for this are like winning the lottery several times in the same month.
The fact that the government is saying that they will allow people to not wear masks if they have vaccinated tells me everything. How are they going to police this? There are so many things that do not make sense.

If Japan had simply allowed these who could not stand on their own to collapse, rather than constantly trying to prop everything back up, they would have been back on top long ago. Japan is an example of the failure of interventionism not due to anything bad related to population decline.
Now a mistake that Japan did not make, but that is being made in the west which is downright cataclysmic, is to attempt demographic replacement, due to the DELUSION that a population decline is a bad thing, because demographic replacement (aka mass immigration) leads to civilizational collapse.

NEIL HOWE! I'm a super fan!! As a Millenial, I would really like to talk to you about what it means to be a "hero" generation, and how to be that hero generation in the most ethical and inclusive way possible. I just turned 30, I'm an educator, and I feel the weight of the world as well as a burning sense of responsibility to make it better/weather its storm. I don't think I've seen you do any interviews with Millenials: if we truly are tasked with being the next "heroes", we could use some help and a little advice!

    • @justinhonse
      @justinhonse 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This is admirable of you, I would just caution one thing regarding inclusion - it’s become a very loaded word. For instance the governments are talking about financial inclusion, when ultimately they want to have a central bank digital currency that tracks everything when there is no more physical cash. Plus there are many people who don’t want a bank account clean and simple. So please keep things like surveillance and unnecessary control in mind when you support things! Otherwise I’m with you!

    • @misstruly5482

@@justinhonse I was thinking about race issues specifically. The last hero generation (the GI generation) built political and physical infrastructure that was narrowly imagined in terms of the people it would/would not serve.
