A much deeper dive on the WiiM Pro's room correction software. The unit will digitize an analog input, apply room correction and output on:
    1) On the units analog line output.
    2) On the units SPDIF Coax output and,
    3) On the units SPDIF Toslink output.

@@lumberjaxx3335 the correct answer is that they both sound different. The Modi 3E is brighter and more detailed, more airy with boomy heavy bass, with the mid range less forward and a bit thin. Very informative video. I'm confused about two things.
    1. What is your analog source? What media is it playing? Also, why would you do an A to D conversion? The result will be limited by the A source. Why not stream something in HD digital audio into the WiiM and then digital out to your DAC?
    2. Does using the WiiM room correction turn off the 10 band EQ? When I try it seems I have to use one or the other. As an aside, every time I try the room correction it sounds terrible. Very flat and set back. Imagine talking to someone with your hand over your mouth. On the other hand, the "Rock" setting on the 10 band EQ sounds forward, lively and fun.
thanks and keep up the good work.

Also I hope those who are not familiar with the WiiM Pro Plus realise that a mobile phone pad etc.device is being used in the seating position as a microphone and the analogue source is just for demonstrating final connection and plays no part in the room analysis. If you look closely at the curve, the yellow target line and the purple EQ line were almost on top of each other in the B&K curve setting. I am fortunate that my room has some acoustic treatment and was purpose built as a sound room. The amount of EQ applied didn't really do much for me. Also, truthfully, I am not a DSP or digital EQ fan. I have a Schiit Lokius that I use to apply tiny amounts of EQ when needed. Since I really don't have any bass issues in my room, which is where most rooms have problems, it did nothing much. I can see its value in untreated or problematic room situations. I do think it can help many people achieve better sound so it is a good unit for that. I understand your love-hate relationship with Roon DSP. Thanks so much for commenting and for watching. I'm scratching my giant bald spot though.. I use TIDAL for everything now. I don't intend to ever go back to analog for anything. I'll let my DAC do that. Listening to these channels though, as I understand it, a person would use a turntable or tape because it starts analog and it stays analog all the way to the speakers.
My question then is, why bother owning anything analog if you are going to convert it to digital? I think that the equipment owned by the TIDAL's of the world would do a much better job of conversion than a personal streamer.
Doesn't matter to me though, I only stream. I just wanted to comment and see what you think. Thanks.

Maurice, You do make a good point. In the world of vintage, the idea of being able to play back all those old records and tapes has a huge appeal. I listen to vinyl all the time myself and no I would not necessarily want to digitize that signal for any reason. However, being able to do the room correction on any signal, analog or digital, can make a system sound more balanced as it can correct of some minor room anomalies. I am lucky in that I have a partially treated room so, my issues are minor at best. I do use an EQ just to fine tune the sound to my tastes. My feeling is that if it helps someone enjoy their music more that is great and ultimately all that matters. Thank you for the great question/observation.

Many people are interested in room correction and no other reviewer did a deep dive it how it functions. Thank you for the track lists. I was lucky enough to see Supertramp here in Chicago on their first American tour in 1975. What a great show. Thanks for the memory.

@@OldGuyHifi 1975, hmm, couldn't make it, I was 2 😂. I inherited a lot of my to's music taste from my dad, like ELO, Mike Oldfield, CCR, Alan Parson etc. He bought the Pioneer HPM100 which I still have. Lovely set of vintage boom-boom
