Love the ladder in the bunk room. I'd also add to please give us an option to order this with nothing in that rear slide but flooring, finished walls of course and some outlets, so it can be turned into a private office instead of a bunk house. I don't need or really want some type of desk built in as I can easily add the one I want as well as my own computer chair and be much lighter than what's there now. The back wall and other side are great. Plenty of storage and a great bunk to take a mid day nap on. In the kitchen please give us an option to delete the oven, it really isn't it as long as there is a decent sized convection microwave already installed. Maybe also give us the option to add something like a Fisher Paykel drawer style dishwasher where the gas oven is located. Even if it takes away a little cabinet space next to where that gas oven was. My wife would be more than happy to make that sacrifice, as she'd call it. I much prefer an induction two or three burner cook top to gas, especially with the solar I'd be adding. I'd also ask to be able to order this unit with slide toppers/awnings, just really makes things require a little less maintenance. In that front pass through it looks like it needs one more support/frame in the middle to make that table really easy to get in and out when the pass through is loaded up with stuff because I know I'd forget to put it away first at least a few dozen times when packing in to leave camp. Add in a second 15k AC in the front bedroom for the hotter climates. With the options/changes I've listed here this beautiful travel trailer would be perfect for my family and I'm betting more than a few others. If these changes were made or offered and if I decide to go the travel trailer route and not 5th wheel or class A. Hey Josh! My wife and I are looking at the Mini-Lite 2205s. What other trailers (besides the Cougar 22rbs) should we be looking at? Thanks for the help!
For that layout those two are "the best" I've seen at it. If you needed something a little smaller the Rockwood 2109S or Freedom Express 192RBS will save some weight and cost but you'll give up that theater seating for a simpler sofa. Video Links Below. Let me know what you think of them: * Rockwood: th-cam.com/video/UvoJVFn8y5k/w-d-xo.html (note that's 2020 footage -- 21's still incoming with an improved interior) * Coachmen: th-cam.com/video/xTKxazplmRA/w-d-xo.html
It’s just so hard to choose the simpler sofa once you’ve tried out the new theater seats? At 5,000 lbs for a trailer with a tip to tip length of only 24 ft, the Mini Lite and Cougar are both built like tanks, but if you can live with a sofa, the other 2 trailers can save you some money and about 1,000 lbs?
It's 100% in the plans, but I am waiting until it's "Slide out season" Once i am done with my videos this time of year we close everything up to keep snow off the slides & just open them to show a camper to a customer. Once we can get slides back open I'll resume my comparisons playlist!
Really impressed with the little stuff... Half bath in the bunk room. The 2 clothes hampers!!! Wow!!! Never have seen that before. Always need storage in a bathroom and a hanger for washcloth and hand towel. Getting real close to my ideal camper here.
I wouldn't say "without worry." I think this is a bit much for that vehicle once cargo loaded. The length of this one is also likely to really "bully around" that vehicle The 2nd slide and length are likely pushing most any RV beyond what is going to be comfortable to haul around
@@JoshtheRVNerd OK I will look for their 292bH, thnk you for putting me on to coachman I after research and looking at they're layout's I think they're beating the rest of them. @@Drvinnieboombatts I decided a long time ago that if I met a client at the grocery store, then I wouldn't want to duck down the dog food aisle if they were buying a head of lettuce. I always want to know that I can look you in the eyes with mutual respect. It's harder this way sometimes. I can tell you that. Much easier to simply NOT care but it's just not how I'm wired nor how I was raised.
I love this camper for the bunkhouse which we would use as an office and extra tv room, however there’s no washer dryer hookup, we would put a hookup In the half bath, also is there an option for a king bed instead of queen?
I mean *nothing* like this with that door side super slide can have good travel access. Big / multi-slide units like this often struggle with traveling access. A 310BHDS will get you a little more to the kitchen, but I'm not sure you'll get anything back in the bunk room.
I really hate the new construction under the bed. I prefer the open space, and I would need to remove the ludicrously small "closets" on each side of the bed to make room for a king bed. There was nowhere near enough storage in there
If that's the only thing you need, then let our team go to work for you. I can't imagine us every losing a deal because of something simple like a ladder.
Love the ladder in bunkhouse! We have 2019 with rock wall kids hate it hurts feet. Will call coachman and get ladder. Also noticed clear glass on entry door nice. Thanks Josh.
Main bath should open towards the master and there should be a casing? On the wall opposite so that the bathroom functions as an en-suite for night-time potty runs for mom.
Just-I agree with the ladder...much better then the rock wall. Looking forward to your review of the 324RLDSLE model...for us couples that aren't interested in the bunkhouse. Love the Freedom Express line...and where can we get that Yeti travel mug from? Keep up the excellent work with the videos-so entertaining and informative...👍
Does the rear bunk room on these have heat? I know with the cabinet ducted heat FE uses it pretty much needs to run under cabinets and appliances, seems like only the 1/2 bath would be able to get a heat vent. I really like this layout. One thing I think it could benefit from is an extendable counter portion off the right of the sink. Especially with bunkhouses, counter space for prep, dirty dishes, etc is at a premium. I really like what they are doing now with the flip up bed and new storage underneath in the master bedroom, that is really nice. I think it’s safe to say this is really a 3/4 ton camper. I don’t think I would really want to go any bigger than our 287bhds with a half ton no matter the configuration, especially for cross country stuff. Great vid, love seeing the updates
Ladder is great! Keep it. May i suggest on models that a ladder is not feasible to add a grab handle on the top bunk so the kids can help pull themselves up instead of doing the Ninja Warrior curtain grab grip on the bedding to try and pull themselves up on.
Ok, Ive been looking around and I REALLY want a fifth wheel but I just don’t think its going to work for me. Was searching your website and found this one. I think I’ve fallen in love. This would be perfect for me!
Thank you Josh for the awesome videos you upload!!! I absolutely love this unit, and the wife gave it stamp of approval. I like the removable ladder!!! Only small bummer for me is I wished they offered a King bed option. But Definitely plan on purchasing. We just ordered in MN a 2021 Ford F-350 6.7 Tremor, est delivery is in May. As soon as the truck comes in and we get our plates, we are taking a road trip to you at Haylett RV for a purchase!
What a beautiful camper! I definitely agree about your truck size suggestion and appreciate it. I took note of the beautiful graphics on the camper as well, they just flow and are not overwhelming. Great video Josh. Also, do you happen to have any of the Apex line coming and possibly have any ideas of changes/ updates Coachmen may have made to them? Stay safe and watch the 🧊. 😊👍🏻
We've taken a little pause on our Apex stocking. The new exterior looks fantastic of course, but we simply found they were not finding homes the way some other campers here were finding homes. They're 100% on our radar and we plan to revisit them next fall
The trick with ½ tons is how their capacities vary more wildly than literally any other vehicle out there For a few years there absolutely have been MONSTER tow/payload half tons, but that's not the truck you typically found for sale at a dealership They're becoming more common thankfully. Sounds like you did good picking yours out.
MAYBE a very specific 1500 with extremely heavy tow rating and payload package + HD anti-sway hitching It's not the weight but the length that's hard to handle here. Longer trailers sway more easily and push vehicles around. The heavier suspension on a 3/4 ton handle that better 3/4 is my general recommendation on these
I call the regular std truck a quarter ton and the heavy duty towing package truck the half ton. 🤪 or maybe the heavy duty tow package can be the 5/8ths truck!😂 either way the truck manufacturers need to make some sort of distinct separation between the two so people won’t tow un safely. That master bedroom is really nice with all that room around the bed and the storage and clothes folding ideas are great!
Yeah I think everyone would be happier if half-tons were more like the smaller size pickups where you either DO or DO NOT have a towing package. It's become so messy even the dealers of those trucks cannot reliably provide specs anymore.
Average consumer would have difficulty to distinguish a “half ton” and a “half ton with heavy tow package”. If some manufacture does make the distinction, the manufacture blurring the line and marketing the tow capacity of heavy tow package and a stripped down half ton price will take the market
The are still making this model, yes. This falls under the Coachmen banner. Looks like we have a used one here bit.ly/3Lf2NSf but sold out of the new copies currently Here's some updated footage for you as well bit.ly/3xnklpH
I'm willing to stretch the limits with a 1/2 ton, but the weight, length and add the junk I'm going to bring with, I would absolutely want a 3/4 ton for this baby. Kudo's to Josh!!!!!
I absolutely love the storage under the master bed. The bar has been raised, this is what I will look for in my next camper. Also, I do like the ladder in the bunkhouse. The rock wall was not cool. I actually wrote off buying a trailer that had that option, when I bought my Jayco a couple years ago.
I’m glad to see a cabinet door on the linen closet in the main bathroom. So many brands are moving away from having a cabinet door. I don’t want people to see all my stuff lol!😂
This is absolutely B!A! This looks like a perfect setup for a bigger family doing weekends with occasional long trips. Love the metal ladder over wood. The knife slots are a great thought. Wish my TT had an underbed like that. Excellent video and you really are an a#$.😄.
I would actually like to see a built in ladder in the shorter cabinet under the bunk bed. It could be basically open shelving that's strong and sturdy and then 8 to 12 inches in could be a net or cloth bin going to the back to still have and access storage.
I loved it meaby i would do 1 upgrade my self in my personal toilet set a biger one i have difficult time on the little ones my private parts make contact with and is uncomfortable I olmos forgot I do acep the ladder in the bunk room I will suggest make a full shower on the guest bunk room so they don’t bother the owner of the camper with hes shower
We love your extensive information you give with your walk throughs. We really have learned a lot about so many brands and look forward to visiting you from Ohio when the time comes for us to pull the trigger. One suggestion... perhaps you might want to try a decaf coffee before recording. LoL . Just kidding keep ‘em coming and don’t change a thing!
I'm amazed they managed to fly under your radar for so long. They're THE most popular ultralite among our lineup (though we also carry a few others that are higher volume overall in the industry as a whole). Pound for pound I think they're one of the best in this class out there
Really like this trailer. Features in this class are amazing! Azdel, cabinet tricks, master bed abracadabra are great. Not a fan of the interior color scheme, it could use a “modern farmhouse” or “tech gray” update to the wood. But hey, throw in those hug barrels in the mini fridge and I could look the other way!
*LOVE all of the FAB changes to this Freedom Express* !! *Yes, VERY happy to see a bunk ladder* !! *Coachman made GREAT use of the space in this Azdel trailer* !! #HaylettRVReviewsNewsAndMore
It's a little old, but the info still holds up pretty nicely. th-cam.com/video/kXKV3CU8dQg/w-d-xo.html I plan to re-shoot that once the sun comes back out and weather warms up again. Basically: * Framed = Saves money and improves airflow * Frameless = Looks dead sexy w/a little better seal protection
Almost perfect. Small cubbies at each side of bed would be a huge plus. Especially for CPAP users. I believe I’ve seen that in the new Cougars. Overall, a great floor plan.

Once we can get slides back open I'll resume my comparisons playlist!
I have a 2020 version. One thing I noticed is they removed the rf connections in the back hook up. Where did those get moved?
Above the tires on the driver's side. Allowed them to get better signal to the bedroom hookups
Really impressed with the little stuff... Half bath in the bunk room. The 2 clothes hampers!!! Wow!!! Never have seen that before. Always need storage in a bathroom and a hanger for washcloth and hand towel. Getting real close to my ideal camper here.
What else would you like to see?
Hey wait a minute......no U tinsel drawer?
Never mind I spoke to soon.
:) ;)
Yes Josh I really appreciate the
Removable ladder, I can't tell you how much I wanted to try to gst
Up tge bunk in my brother's camper!
Tell him to get a removable ladder just like this one. It's actually an extreme easy thing to get/add!
I have 1500Siverado, with a 3.0L diesel, that's rated to tow 9600lbs,,,Can I tow this beauty without worry?????
I wouldn't say "without worry." I think this is a bit much for that vehicle once cargo loaded. The length of this one is also likely to really "bully around" that vehicle
The 2nd slide and length are likely pushing most any RV beyond what is going to be comfortable to haul around
@@JoshtheRVNerd OK I will look for their 292bH, thnk you for putting me on to coachman I after research and looking at they're layout's I think they're beating the rest of them. I'm in the Chicagoland area but I am going to reach out to Haylett, just because of your help, with all the advice and info you share, and you're very candid in your approach which is honorable.
I love this camper for the bunkhouse which we would use as an office and extra tv room, however there’s no washer dryer hookup, we would put a hookup
In the half bath, also is there an option for a king bed instead of queen?
Not in this one, but we have the same layout in Jayco with a king here m.th-cam.com/video/4fMMkvGs4yg/w-d-xo.html
That's really nice is it 30 or 50 amp?
These are 30amp standard and 50amp optional with 2nd A/C also available as an option for 50amp units
@@JoshtheRVNerd that's good to know as soon as I saw fireplace I thought for sure it was 50 amp
Looks awesome. Is the 12V Compressor fridge just electric or is is 2 way (propane and electric)
Single source -- not a "dual fuel" type
Absolutely wonderfully wonderful. Love these videos so much!
Thank you very much!
#dreamtraveltrailer great video!
TY Leon!!
Have you seen jayco's version of this RV? I have a video for it here:
th-cam.com/video/4fMMkvGs4yg/w-d-xo.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd I had not. I’ll check it out! Thanks!!!
Good ladder in the bunk house! Great storage
TY Cindy :)
The little things will sway my purchase....love the ladder , laundry hamper , bed lift & picnic table!!
I'm the same way. It's those *touches*
Anything like this with front windshield and better travel access?
I mean *nothing* like this with that door side super slide can have good travel access. Big / multi-slide units like this often struggle with traveling access. A 310BHDS will get you a little more to the kitchen, but I'm not sure you'll get anything back in the bunk room.
Wow this looks like a great camper for my family.
Except it's not travel friendly 😣
Tough with multiple slides like that. Smaller campers tend to have the best travel function
I really hate the new construction under the bed. I prefer the open space, and I would need to remove the ludicrously small "closets" on each side of the bed to make room for a king bed. There was nowhere near enough storage in there
Love the windows in the front bedroom, great storage space!
Thanks so much!
Love the ladder. Prior year suck
Every bunk model should come with a ladder, unfortunately the 257 does not so I’ll have to get one
If that's the only thing you need, then let our team go to work for you. I can't imagine us every losing a deal because of something simple like a ladder.
Hey its the juice box man .You keep us charged up on this video thanks for all you do.
"Juice Box Man?" What?! Lol
I mean... I've been called worse so..
Love the ladder in bunkhouse! We have 2019 with rock wall kids hate it hurts feet. Will call coachman and get ladder. Also noticed clear glass on entry door nice.
Thanks Josh.
That's a super generic ladder you can get about anywhere btw.
That mug was a gift from Freedom Express actually for some personal assistance I offered them a few years back. Sure is a "handsome mug" LOL :)
This would be a beating without a 2nd AIR!
Yes the bunk room is heated (though I've seen that mistake made before by a builder!)
I tend to agree with your tow vehicle assessments.
Love it! Those Freedom Express's got it going on like Donkey Kong!!
That's actually the scientific answer, yeah LOL
This towable by 2021 F-150 w/ 3.5L Eco Boost, 3.55 rear end with Max Tow Package? Towing capacity on truck is 13,800lbs, max GVWR is 19,400lbs.
Do you know your payload rating? That’s going to really make or break it here
You are smoking some crack if you think an F150 can handle 19,400 GVWR….a 2wd long bed won’t even handle that, no matter what the manual states.
Ladder is great! Keep it. May i suggest on models that a ladder is not feasible to add a grab handle on the top bunk so the kids can help pull themselves up instead of doing the Ninja Warrior curtain grab grip on the bedding to try and pull themselves up on.
"Ninja Warrior Curtain Climb" lol
Ok, Ive been looking around and I REALLY want a fifth wheel but I just don’t think its going to work for me. Was searching your website and found this one. I think I’ve fallen in love. This would be perfect for me!
Jayco does a great copy of this too
m.th-cam.com/video/4fMMkvGs4yg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Josh for the awesome videos you upload!!!
I absolutely love this unit, and the wife gave it stamp of approval. I like the removable ladder!!! Only small bummer for me is I wished they offered a King bed option. But Definitely plan on purchasing. We just ordered in MN a 2021 Ford F-350 6.7 Tremor, est delivery is in May. As soon as the truck comes in and we get our plates, we are taking a road trip to you at Haylett RV for a purchase!
What does that small door above the wheels on the connection side go to?
Back of the fridge - access panel
Brand new 2021 F150 can handle this. Im guessing, no one has checked out the new payload and hitch weight stats on them. They are insane.
The trick with ½ tons is how their capacities vary more wildly than literally any other vehicle out there
For a few years there absolutely have been MONSTER tow/payload half tons, but that's not the truck you typically found for sale at a dealership
They're becoming more common thankfully. Sounds like you did good picking yours out.
ladder in the bunk room is a must!! Love it! Also love the under bed storage in the master!
That bed storage is fantastic!
Could you tow this with a Ram 1500?
MAYBE a very specific 1500 with extremely heavy tow rating and payload package + HD anti-sway hitching
It's not the weight but the length that's hard to handle here. Longer trailers sway more easily and push vehicles around. The heavier suspension on a 3/4 ton handle that better
3/4 is my general recommendation on these
Hi Josh, love this tt, like the colors & all of the storage space, very nice ,need the ladder
Glad you like it!
Freedom Express Ladder -- Thank You !!
What Height (Head Room) is under Outside Kitchen Door ?
I don't have outside kitchen height specs, but at my height I can cruise under it w/o so much as considering whacking my head
Hey Uncle Josh, that one's just like
My little brother's camper, I want it!
But I'll probably have to wait another 10 years, oh well.
Man I can't even imagine what this stuff is going to look like in 10 more years
Is this still available? What brand is this?
The are still making this model, yes. This falls under the Coachmen banner. Looks like we have a used one here bit.ly/3Lf2NSf but sold out of the new copies currently
Here's some updated footage for you as well bit.ly/3xnklpH
You are weird, I like this floorplan too. You can be weird and right at the same time.
Tell my wife that would you? Lol
@@JoshtheRVNerd Dear Mrs. Josh. First, you married him Second, he can be right and weird. Third, he's a good boy.
That's a bigin , a real nice one . Yup your right Josh 3/4 ton
Love the feedback. Thx so much!
I’m glad to see a cabinet door on the linen closet in the main bathroom. So many brands are moving away from having a cabinet door. I don’t want people to see all my stuff lol!😂
Agreed. I don't like open shelves.
This is absolutely B!A! This looks like a perfect setup for a bigger family doing weekends with occasional long trips. Love the metal ladder over wood. The knife slots are a great thought. Wish my TT had an underbed like that. Excellent video and you really are an a#$.😄.
*B.A. Approves*
I would actually like to see a built in ladder in the shorter cabinet under the bunk bed. It could be basically open shelving that's strong and sturdy and then 8 to 12 inches in could be a net or cloth bin going to the back to still have and access storage.
Interesting idea!
Would you believe I don't drink any coffee?
Instead I just go straight for a 50cc Caffeine drip.
Very impressive for a brand I never seen or heard of i like bath an half sweet
I'm amazed they managed to fly under your radar for so long. They're THE most popular ultralite among our lineup (though we also carry a few others that are higher volume overall in the industry as a whole).
Pound for pound I think they're one of the best in this class out there
Really like this trailer. Features in this class are amazing! Azdel, cabinet tricks, master bed abracadabra are great. Not a fan of the interior color scheme, it could use a “modern farmhouse” or “tech gray” update to the wood. But hey, throw in those hug barrels in the mini fridge and I could look the other way!
lol thanks so much for watching :)
We come to expect all the extras these days I remember the old days fridge and stove and that was it if you were lucky
We are most certainly a fortunate society -- far more than most folks realize I think
*LOVE all of the FAB changes to this Freedom Express* !! *Yes, VERY happy to see a bunk ladder* !! *Coachman made GREAT use of the space in this Azdel trailer* !! #HaylettRVReviewsNewsAndMore
TY as always Susan! #THEoriginalSuperFan!
Side career in comedy? :)
My routine about kitchen utensils was really *dead panned* by audiences & left me scrambled.
3/4 ton truck all day long. 👍
,Casper is a FRIENDLY ghost Josh.
Let's just say me and him have some history...
Do you have a video on frameless vs framed windows? #smexy
It's a little old, but the info still holds up pretty nicely. th-cam.com/video/kXKV3CU8dQg/w-d-xo.html
I plan to re-shoot that once the sun comes back out and weather warms up again.
Basically:
* Framed = Saves money and improves airflow
* Frameless = Looks dead sexy w/a little better seal protection
Almost perfect. Small cubbies at each side of bed would be a huge plus. Especially for CPAP users. I believe I’ve seen that in the new Cougars. Overall, a great floor plan.
yes to ladders...
She is pretty though 🤣😂🤣😂
She Pretty the Fool? :)
IT DEF IS NOT HALF TON TOWABLE
You unconventional! Never....although I don't know your wife so that's what she may say about you while using different words.
