A DM era set reprint that isn't the same 6 DM era packs they reprinted in every version of the first legendary collection? About time they're trying something new

This says it’s printed to bring RP1 to America. We already had RP2. Beyond that, the other reprint cards have made OG packs go up in price tbh. 1st expansion LOB is hotter than ever
This is the most useless reprint I have ever seen. The cards have been printed to hell and back and they won’t hold any kind of value because it’s not 1st Ed.

If you really collected for rarity like you claim you wouldn't care that much. The reprint doesn't change how pretty the cards you already own are. I have ghost rare stardust from 5ds and I would be thrilled for a reprint because I could get more of them
It is decent, however they should mix retro 1 and 2 together as individually they don't have enough for the set to be good. Lots of the higher rarities are not the time wizard playable stuff

This is insane. It sounds like it'll be different enough that it shouldn't affect value on OG tbh. Certainly not sealed. I'm here for it though! Not a bad set to reprint imo although how they're choosing stuff for 25th anniversary is so weird and random.
Yeah the value on the originals will stay the same since they're damn near extinct anyway.
And it's only North American so UK market won't get it which is annoying tbh...

And just like that, there is little to no faith nor value in the remaining high-end collector's market for Yu-Gi-Oh! foreseeably. It's just a matter of time before Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are valued like currency during hyper inflation. The North America Konami division needs some consultants from Japan to revitalize our side sets and value expectations.

Weirdest product announcement in years. Profitability will be the only question for whether post ANPR sets can get this treatment. The copyright stamping has to be changed. It’s all for legal reasons. No way this is a palette from 2008.

Konami doesn't care about your dealings with the second-hand market. In business, line your pockets before lining others.
The OGs will stay the same. Look at Korea. They've reprinted all the old sets, yet the original 1st editions have still held value in their market. Same goes for Japan's market with the Volume 1 and Starter Deck EX reprints. No reason TCG's market will be any different.

Since this really opens the floodgates for reprinting older sets, Konami should reprint other older sets like Magician's Force, Phantom of Darkness, Gladiator's Assault and some like that.
And don't sit there an denie what I said...just because in the description of the product preview it doesn't say it..But their doing this because of the prices. An money making..So y'all just keep on doing what you do.. Your collections might aswell be firewood.
Absolutely understand why collectors are upset about this reprint as it may devalue there RP01 collection. But this is a great chance for players to get cards they could never afford and hopefully bring old fans of Yugioh back into the game.
Why not just make retro pack 3?

My thing is the original print with the original card stock and holo is just different and reprints in 2024 will never look as good. The old foil just hit different

What would be interesting to see in this reprint to see is how this version of Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon does. Because originally the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was a promo in a Special Edition mini box. And because this set won’t have a Special Edition Mini Box, that would obviously mean it would be more difficult to get and might actually hold some value.
This is great. I have so many people getting back into the game at the store and they always ask for LOB this will be a great product to have for those chasing nostalgia cards
I’m all for it AS LONG AS there is something to differentiate the 2008 and 2024 prints. So hopefully the copyright does change. I’m also more ecstatic to see that they are really going at it to support old school yugioh.

About the copyright, there is no way in hell that they can change the "Studio DICE" reading, so this still will be clearly differentiable from the original.
Konami is digging into the past. They try to reach the former glory. They lack creativity. They don't understand or don't respect their collector base and they certainly don't have any intentions to stop this gargabe 25th anniversay.

@@abbasmir5988 the problem is the originals never had a first edition print; they were all printed unlimited because they never got a booster box. If the cards from retro pack were released in a different set (like shining dragon was released in themovie promos, or duelist pack Kaiba, ECT) then it doesn't matter, but if the set itself is being reprinted (not to mention Konami is increasing the pull rate 2x... The original retro pack sets were almost impossible to pull anything from) then it will destroy the value of the original unlimited prints. First edition cards don't have high swings in price when a reprint comes out, but unlimiteds definitely do.

@@abbasmir5988 That is true, the bottom right copyright of the card will be different. The original set will say Kazuki Takahashi, where as newer ones mention tv Tokyo Konami and such... There will be a big swing in value though, it's just the nature of first edition and unlimited prints.
I will guess the sealed product will swing as well. You can just compare this to sealed product of unlimited LOB or something to when they reprinted those for the 25th anniversary. The first ed ones probably didn't budge, where the unlimiteds went down in value.

Konami has recognized the format for a while by virtue of fact that they have organized events for it at the various regionals or ycs. They just don't call it they call it "2010 format".
Huge L in my opinion this year has been a BLUNDER on Konami’s side of things. Literally saved tons of money this year due to the trash they’re dumping on us!!!

Getting a reprint of a reprint set is kinda weird but I'm here for it. Especially since retro pack 1 packs are damn near extinct, this won't affect the price of the retro pack 1 packs so anyone who has them can relax looking forward to opening the reprints.
I mean the issue was RP1 was never brought to NA, so the originals will drop a fair amount.
And with guaranteed easier pull rates, the value on things like RP Scapegoat will drop pretty hard, especially since they're in the original printing and everything.

I don't think the old printings will be impacted as much as everyone thinks. Between the copyright, card stock, and inking won't devalue the original printings very much imo.
Especially sealed and if they have the 25th anniversary stamp. I'm personally hyped as hell for this since I was a US middleschooler at the time and never got my hands on many packs of RP1

Crazy stuff. It looks like Konami has lost the fear to reprint very old sets. Good for the casual collectors, atrocious for the high level collectors and people holding into the set. Lets hope at least the copyright on the bottom is different so the cards can be told appart and the market is not destroyed.

If konami wants to keep reprinting old sets let's see STBL or RGBT. Either one of those would be HUGE. RGBT in particular has a lot of stuff that desperately needs reprints for old formats

The mass reprinting of old sets that's been going on since last year is the second worst thing ever to happen to collectors in this game. The worst being Upper Deck Day back in 2009 where they reprinted all of the SJC Prize Cards.
That being said, this is needed. Way too many people in trading cards to make money these days who don't really care about the hobby otherwise.
I get your point but there should be some aspects of the game that keep it collectible this doesn't affect the meta in any way it only dogs on those who held for the long haul
