The boost is in the colors and that extra detail. The 4k has deep and inky blacks in addition to brighter moments compared to the standard blu-ray. Good comparison.
There’s a difference, but it’s minor even when poring over stills. I’m not convinced that original production helped on the 4K. I will stay with my BluRay. Thanks MM. Smart to add your logo as I think I see examples of your work being taken and used on other channels with no credits.
True. Thou usually when you get the 4K Version it also comes with the BluRay. So you can have Both and save on shelf space. The only time you really have to old onto an older BluRay release is if the Newer Version removed several Special Features.
Hi! Would you make side by side comparisons as well in your upcoming blu-ray vs 4K videos? Its easier to see side by side. I will get this awesome 4K movie :)
They changed the color timing so that the overly-warm reddish tint is gone. It's not so much that the HDR version has more blue, but rather it's not red-tinted.
I've never owned Robocop so I'm treating myself to the new 4K, but if I already owned the blu-ray, I probably wouldn't upgrade based on these stills. Which hopefully isn't a knock on the 4K but a testament to the blu-ray quality.
Sad to say, as I also bought, not one, but two editions of a 2019 release, that it's a little sharper, more detailed, more filmic grain visible, which I like to see. It's definitely not a big or 'necessary' upgrade, but for such an important and loved movie, a wanted one. In DVD era, it's like a 'superbit' DVD, or maybe even would be considered a better transfer.
I find that you don’t have to watch these videos in 4k hdr to see the difference. TH-cam usually streams these comparisons in 1080p or 4k without hdr. It is more the color grading and contrast adjustments that make the difference. I have my is Roku Ultra set to 4k 60hz without hdr for the best results. If it was hdr that made the difference you would only see the improvement when streaming in full 4k HDR.

Would you recommend the upgrade or should I stick with my regular blu ray
If you don’t care about Dolby Atmos sound then you can stick with your regular BD !
Il stick with my arrow blu I think. There is difference here, but not enough for me to double dip unfortunately.
Thank you for the comparison, been waiting for exactly this.
Quick question, do you buy or rent the discs, or is it taken from streaming?
Buy and taken from streaming Lenny !
Clean up,4k that is .
there seems to be more blue on the HDR version

Wow i thin Dolby Vision wins in this Comparison over the Hdr 10 in the other Video.

Sucks I just bought the other set less than 2 years ago 😁
Yup. Welcome to the club!
Arrow blu ray is only £8.99 so gonna get that instead, not worth the 4k price tag for me.
wow IMHO not worth doing
