- Squirrels are about to double in number, so Tom Davies and Ollie Williams plan to purge local woodland in FieldsportsBritain this week. They are out after the grey menace in woodland in Devon. Plus we are debunking the Campaign Against Trophy Hunting's literature with big game hunter Jens-Ulrik Høgh and Charlie chats to big game hunting author James Field. You guys do such a good job for fieldsports, hunting and shooting.
I have been following for a good while, and love the content.
However it's sad to se all the trouble you have with extreme anties over there.
Here in Norway we don't have much of those. Shure, we have people against hunting who loudly complain, threatening hunters in social media etc, and some anti groups. Most of them are groups who wants to ban hunting on predatory game.
There has been a few out trying to spoil wolf hunting, but for the most part we don't have a big problem with this.

Squirrel calls are common here in the US. It's more of a locator. Get them to reply or show themselves.

Can 1 Use a 22LR Rifle To Hunt These Greys In Britain or Only Shotguns? 😀
Shooting a 22lr into the trees would not be safe. But if you can bait them in to a place with a safe backstop, then airgun or 22lr would be fine.

Do you have any encounters with myxomatosis in rabbits and any idea if an area can recover from it, my towns rabbit population has been practically gone for 30 years due to it
Yes we do. In my part of Somerset it used to come through about every six or seven years. Then RHD arrived and now we only get a normal season for rabbits every six or seven years. / Charlie

It's effective, but I cringe watching shotguns fired into trees. Surely an air rifle would do. Good show tho 👍
I'd cringe more at an air rifle to be honest, plus you risk braking the law if you miss and the pellet leaves the boundary

What is the point of hunting squirrels?
Grey squirrels are an invasive exotic that damage trees, eat songbird eggs and drive out the UK's native red squirrels. / Charlie

Would it be an idea to cut off the Ivy and deprive them of their cover, and sit quietly and let them expose themselves to the Hunter!
