As a former skate player, I have a cool tip for you, its called the M2 buffer. On your board, if you oress jump immediately after your m2, you'll do a trick, dealing extra damage and gain moee speed with no ledges. I reccomend practicing this in crossroads to get the hang of it before using in battle and adjusting there. Also use the couches on Iron cafe to trick more. Also, go hide to regen shield to lower your death count, being on board is your best bet of surviving and you cant regen on board.
