Love this video, and took plenty of notes. Haven't read the book yet. Really looking forward to it.

My intuition tells me that God/The One-ness doesn't have limits. It's always AND and not THIS or THAT.
I am of the belief now that this "Selfing" process isn't an error, but that took time! I remember wanting to discard it because it can be so heavy and silly.
But then again, I realized it is this divine vehicle, and that deep down, the "illusion" and god itself are one. They aren't separate. So whatever is happening, whoever is happening, and what is front of me is as divine as any other realm.
Here and now is still perfect. So this "Alex" being is within the perfection.
When we are too far in the self, of course, it feels relieving and godlike to remember our divinity and our one-ness!
But being Alex is as close to God as being the "one" (just a concept after all).
More than that, I don't think "boring" would encapsulate oneness. Boring is still a concept/emotion of the body/ego! God doesn't get tired or bored. Those are inventions and feelings.
You won't get bored of God!
And that is a relief, to me.
Thanks for the video! And for spreading an inclusive message that doesn't further separation

Yes, Alex, thank you for sharing! As the Course itself says, Heaven is here, there is no other place. Heaven is now, there is no other time. Samsara is nirvana. We need but the eyes to see it. Living heaven on earth is up to each individual, but it does seem as though when we make the choice for that, it really does help everyone else.
It also does seem that anything we think about what God is from this side of the veil (so to speak), especially if we are attached to it, will most likely put some limit on what reality really is. So yes, to think it would be boring, or on the other hand, to think it will be a great big ol' party -- those are all just concepts that are most likely not going to be helpful in the process of opening to what it truly is. And I do think you're right to say that it's probably more of a both/and than an either/or, especially because our egoic conditioning seems to be to value the logic of either/or only.
Really appreciate your checking in, and your appreciation. Wishing you grace & peace, brother.

... for the birds - good one :) "Non-duality" is like calling our life a "non-santa-life" still 30 years after learning that Santa never existed. Not wrong but not really of any benefit.

Yes, but I do feel that it’s helpful to hear that there aren’t 2 things in reality, so that we start to work with the idea that fear (ego, guilt, sin) has no existence in reality, only in duality. Once you know that for certain, then yes, saying that reality is “non-dual” is no longer helpful. 💫🙏💫

@@allowah Yes, it's a start of a journey. No matter what resonates with us, let's follow it.
The path of "non-duality" requires great discernment because it's shifting. That's why I would put less focus on the concept when teaching myself. I would just rely on "oneness" (talking about use of language here). Because once we do arrive in a "non-dual" understanding, we still see the duality/trinity/contrasts/polarities/opposites in everything.
Before this understanding, duality is recognized as a fact of reality.
After this understanding, duality is recognized as a quality of Oneness.
The word receives different meaning before and after.
This means that people with different levels of understanding likely get confused when speaking with each other.

An interesting view can be found in the book Tantra Illuminated. It speaks on the idea of a "supreme non-duality" which incorperates both duality and non-duality as central to the Tantrik view. Abhinava Gupta posits that our experience "includes both duality and nonduality, while supereme nonduality transcends the transcendent" which produces a natural Paradox that can also be explained through the concept of the 3+1 model (kind of like you hinted at 7:30 and with the remark from Jesus about not letting theology delay you).
The paradox comes in the form of a trinity (Individual perception/perciever/soul, duality, and nonduality (3), alongside the 4th nameless unifying force (+1) which he calls supreme nonduality, also refered to as the Heart of Being or God. This is in the same format as the Father, Son, and Holy spirit trinity being unified and separate simultaneously under the force that is God/Deus. In Tantra, God or the Heart is the simultaneous Transcendent nature of Siva, of pure consciousness, as well as the immanent nature of Sakti, also called the power and energy of the goddess. But neither of these aspects of God is dominant or superior, just more or less apparent in any given experience. In some situations the dual nature of reality is present, as when we divide things and differentiate ourselves from others, while in other situations the nondual nature of reality is made clear through an understanding and unification of seemingly opposing forces.
So in the end, the balanced Tantrik path values the lived experience just as highly as it values the transcendent awareness of our divine nature unified with the rest of the conscious universe called God.

Thank you for this, brother. I do feel also that we can learn a lot by looking at ACIM in light of HIndu philosophy and I thank you for bringing this to all of our attention. I will be doing some videos in the near future where I go into this topic in greater depth.

And I also want to add that I agree more or less with the view that you presented, and that it is more an issue of not looking at things as either/or but both/and, and finding the balance and middle ground. There's a quote: "Hatha Yoga without meditation is blind; meditation without Hatha Yoga is lame." We might also say: "Shiva without Shakti is a shava (corpse, lame); Shakti without Shiva is blind."

The title of the video is a joke - I am an advocate of non-duality and in seeing ACIM as presenting a non-dual metaphysics. It’s just the details of that that are open to question.
