======== En Livstid I Krig LYRICS =======
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Gick ut i strid för Sverige, blev döpt i blod
Där ute väntar döden, inte hjältemod
I fält där fränder faller, hörs ingen sång
Utmanar våra öden, ännu en gång
Långt hemifrån
Döpas och dö i strid
Och världen brann
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Och när min tid har runnit ut
Vem bryr sig då?
De kämpar på
Får en soldat ett värdig sl@t?
Få somna in
Försvinna bort
Och aldrig vakna
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?

aww should have had the captions on. The words will move you to tears... good reaction tho!
Problem with most reaction channels is that they put in bear minimum effort. It's all about the cake💵👌
Great Reaction: As for the lights, Joakim said “Nobody carries around Lighters these days, But you do all have phones. Turn your lights on”
Dont you guys have phones?
@@slavkolinic6713 I understood that reference
@@gidi3250 me too ;)
@@slavkolinic6713 Fuck Blizzard
You should have watched it with the lyrics. As a Swede from Gothenburg(one of the fought over cities in Sweden) and our warrior history this song always make me tear up thou I know what my ancestors have paid for my existence here today as a Gothenburgian and a proud Swede. ❤️❤️❤️
Your ancestors died so that Sweden could become a socialist Islamic caliphate. How tragic and sad.
I was there in the crowd. And i still gett blown away when i watch this music video. The lights is from our cellphones.
I agree, love their live shows.
Same here
*high five* I was there too, great concert!
there are two versions of the song,.. a swedish and an english version, but both have different lyrics. The swedish one is sung from the perspective of a soldier, the english one is sung from the perspective of an outside observer.
the swedish version you watched had captions so you could have had the lyrics.
great reaction though ;)
Yeah I agree and as a Swede I think the caption is a much better translation of the Swedish lyrics than the English version and also has a much better flow
Me and my friend was in the crowd on the floor almost at front to the stage...
I can just tell you...ive never had so much goosebumps in my entire life standing there singing this song. It was amazing.
Sverige sverige sverige sverige
Best night ever =)
Europe has had REPEATED long stretches when wars LASTED for what seemed like forever. The civilian tole was monstrous. Some of these wars went on for GENERATIONS. So yeah, everyone knows the song.
It's really saddening that nobody remembers the Thirty Years War, the conflict the song is about. It killed somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the ENTIRE population of the Holy Roman Empire. More people died in it than the Napoleonic Wars, and in proportional terms it was one of the most devastating wars in world history
@@sulphuric_glue4468 yea like people keep talking about ww2's body count but as a present that's quite small compared to some of the wars humans have stated ex the Mongols
@@sulphuric_glue4468 For the record, the beloved Swedish King lost his life in a battle on German ground.
@@sulphuric_glue4468 In a region of former Germany, 95% of all villages were eradicated.
@@gidi3250 well ww2 just lasted 6 years
Sabaton fans are the most loyal fans of any band ever. A true Sabaton fan can sing any of their songs. Sabaton shows are incredible. I go every time they come to dallas.
Song is about the 30 years war, lyrics are pretty emotional given it’s slow tempo. They do have an English version called
“A lifetime of war” if you were curious.
You can apply the swedish lyrics to literally any war. And they are quite sad
In a way yes, though "A lifetime of war/En livstid i krig" is about grow up, live and die in a time of war is a bit different from most wars as this war lasted 30 years which is very long for a single war.
@@SayaViking for the story/history behind it, true enough.
But in a broader sense, the two versions represent society in general, I think, no matter the date.
Most people are always looking at the big picture in a given war; the battles, the tactics, the overall costs...which is A Lifetime of War.
But very few, if any, look at the soldier as an individual...that is what En Livstid i Krig is shining a light on.
@@SayaViking Well there quiet examples nowadays too, like Israel/Palästina, Afghanistan, African Regions,.... where you was born in war and experience it since then
Agreed! So is the Norwegian ones 🇳🇴✨
35 years old, going to my first live show in may 2022, Sabaton of course!
I look around and I see my home fade away
My time at home now feels far too short
Just a youth, barely a man when duty called me
If i get to see my home again, that I do not know
Amongst friends from my village, I went out to figtht
And the world burned
For war it can
Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
But who will mourn me?
So see me as
A husband, a friend
Father and son who never comes home
But who will miss me?
Went to fight for Sweden, was baptized in blood
Out there where death awaits, not heroism
In fields where kinsmen fall no song is heard
Challenging our destiny one more time
Far from home
Baptized and die in battle
And the world burned
For war it can
Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
But who will mourn me?
So see me as
A husband, a friend
Father and son who never comes home
But who will miss me?
And when my time runs out
Who cares then?
They fight on
Does a soldier get a worhty end?
To fall asleep
Pass away
And never wake up
For war it can
Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
But who will mourn me?
So see me as
A husband, a friend
Father and son who never comes home
But who will miss me?
Artist: Sabaton

Wait! I recognize these lyrics from an old punk song????
Good translation, I would only make a few minor changes. Kinsmen is better for "fränder" rather than friends. I would use "fade away" instead of "pass away" as translation for tyna bort. And mourn and miss is switched in the chorus.
@@criwall I found the translation online. But I agree with you
Holy frikkin shite! One of the sickest things I've ever witnessed!:0. Stirs the soul
He is a great singer in general, but when he sings in Sweedish, there is so much more depth and emotion in his voice! also, i am from Denmark, and our languages are somewhat similar, so i understand most of the lyrics. its an incredibly powerful song. it hits me in the heart every time... Great reaction guys \m/
This gets me everytime, my swedish goosebumps are crying.
Singing about viking. Country.... How proud we are to be born here
If you had the lyrics on... You would probably start crying.
For war it can
Destroy a man
I gave my life
For my fatherland
Who will mourn me?
So see me as
A husband, a friend
Father and son
Who never come home
But who will miss me?

OMG! One of my favorites! It’s so beautiful, it gives me chills! Keep rockin’ it out! ❤️🤘🏻
I am swedish .. I was there.. we used our phones :)
i was there working at the gig and see the consert.
It is one of the gig that all of the audience feel like Superman it was epic
Scandinavium my favorite arena in (Sweden,Gutenburg)a lot of memories there...🇸🇪💛💙.....and a like your reactions.....
Great reaction for a very deep song. The level of engagement between band and crowd here is epic. You have a lot of Sabaton stuff to react guys
I love when the public start too sing swedish pagans after that performance and Jocke laugh ........
I was in that crowd, very close to the stage as well, definitely the most amazing consert moment I've ever experienced.
I was there and it was an incredible concert!
Such an awesome band!! And the song title is in my language 😃🇳🇴🇳🇴👌🏼 ( Norwegian) Rest in swedish, that is soooo much alike my language 🔥👌🏼They have the most awesome concerts!! Much love to you for reacting! 👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Love this, really enjoyed to see you react to one of our prides.
I myself do love Sabaton and hope to see you react to more of their songs!
We've got loads of great metalbands, have a look and a listen and I promise that Sweden will not let you down!
Rock on, stay safe and best regards //Your newest subscriber
Love your energy! you both have charisma of gold! Cheers from Sweden.
Great reaction of probably the best live performances ever...but u should have used the captions to understand the lyrichs, they bring even hardened veterans to tears.
Great choice of song, im Danish so i understand the lyrics they are very beautiful.
I've been in that audience and have sung those words several times (not at this particular show, but the Stockholm one and others). It is so, so powerful. Goosebumps, tears in eyes powerful. Every time. So awesome.
I was there and it was epic🤟🤟🤟 the power of the crowd was awsome.
Great reaction from the both of you but you must watch it again with English subtitles on as it is one of the most beautiful and moving songs I have ever heard. Sabaton are my favourite band because of my love of metal music and military history. My second favourite band is Rammstein. Keep up the great work, take care you two and stay safe from this pandemic. You both are my favourite you tubers and my favourite Americans. From your British fan. 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇸🇪🇩🇪
Was at this concert (another of your favorites Amaranthe, was also there that night). Was less than a week before Corona came to Europe and things started to shut down, so 8 months without concerts now.... but this was a great one.
Translated the chorus is something like:
“Because of the war it can
Destroy a man
I give my life for my homeland
But who will mourn me?
So see me as
A husband, a friend
Father and son who never comes home
But who will miss me?”
Who will mourn me would be a better translation than miss.
Awesome reaction Video, Unity is amazing. :-)
I was there,in that crowd....So wasome.And my favourite song by Sabaton.And of course,Swedish version.
it was awesome to be there
From the venue "Scandinavium" in my hometown Gothenburg :)
I saw them the day after in Stockholm. The lights are from cell phones and from light sticks/glow sticks.
They have an army of singers in this one let’s go to battle !
I was there, like 3m from the stage. it was truly an amazing moment
When you get a stadium full of fans singing your song back to you with no accompanying music i think its safe to say you've made it
Lights are constant, it just happened by accident for the camera to change focus a few times kind of in sync with the mood of the song, so it looks like lights are interactive. When a camera goes out of focus, the more luminous elements are more pronounced than in focus.
You guys should react again with the captions on I bet you will be brought to tears amazingly emotional song🤘
Been waiting for this reaction, and then I see i'm the first one here!
Awesome reaction... love when the fans can jump in with that much power... FYI, the drummer Hannes van Dahl is Floor Jensen’s husband.
They probably know considering the same comment gets posted thirty times on every single fucking Sabaton video, including all the ones on their channel.
as one of the crowd i can say that it was as epic as you can picture it
29th of September Sweden will open all out again after corona, Sabaton will return LIVE!
Please tell me you guys reacted to Sabaton “Ghost Division” from Woodstock. It’s literally the best live performance of anything ever.
in the 30th years war every 7th swedish male lost their lives , my ancestors are spread around the whole of Europe love from Sweden
I love the fact that the guy just sits there ready for some swedish shitshow. And gets stunned :D haha
Another great reaction. Also, checked out your Reap What You Sow video, nice!!!

BTW that's Hannes (Floor Jansen's husband) beating on the drums on top of that tank. :)

That was my last concert before 2020 ruined Sweden Rock Festival. A whole bunch of awesomeness from Amaranthe, Apocalyptica and Sabaton during this show!
One of thäe best bands from sweden today...... Lifetime in war is one of The best songs The e er made... Very big here in europe
If I interpret your light question correctly I am assuming you mean where it looks like the lights are changing brightness in unison? It's very subtle changes in the lighting on the crowd that gives it that appearance.
Woooho! I was there...and it was amazing :p
I case any one wants the Lyrics

"Guitar solo"
And when my time has run out
Who cares then?
They are struggling
Does a soldier get a dignified end?
Get to sleep
Disappear
And never wake up
For the war it can

If you by "the lights" refer to them appearing to be flashing I bet it's due to automatic diaphragm/shutter settings in the camera. It's not uncommon phenomenon when you have the ceiling spotlights leaking into the lens.
I so happy that you reacted to the video in Swedish. They have it in English to
sabaton is my pride and joy , 30 years of war , there is a lot of books on the subject and sabaton has a history channel
Check out the lyrics for it while keeping the music in the back of your mind...this one, the Swedish version... you'll shed a tear for sure.

With the lack of festivals this summer you really NEED to react to Hardcore Superstars "You can't kill my rock n roll"
Very great reaction:) Translate the text and it will be even more powerful song for your heart
Great reaction to an amazing performance!
The bands name is pronounced Sah-bah-ton.
The lights are on the crowds mobiles - they were asked to light them up and wave them.
As a Swede I can easily her that they are in Gothenburg because of the dialect
There day after this one, they did the gig in Stockholm. I was there and irc Joakim Said we blew the Gothenburg out of the water on this one ;)
And that´s why they are promoting the video from Gothenburg and not Stockholm ;)
I was on that show.... Fantastic!
"how do they do with the lights" Travis they turn their mobile phone lights on.
You should watch it again with subtitles on. It gets stronger if you understand the lyrics
great reaction! :D
2:25 Mobile phones, and it felt epic. I was in the crowd singing along.
Its just our phone lights, it was a dope concert for sure 🤘
Greetings from sweden!!!! :D
Swedish metalband + Swedish metalheads = Match made in heaven...
You should have watched with captions... the lyrics are so powerful, this is a rough translation for it
I look around me and see my home disappear
My time at home now feels way to short
Just a youth, not a man, still I get called to war
If I get to see my home again, I don’t know
Among friends from my village I went out to war
The world was on fire
Cause the war it can, destroy a man
I give my life, for my motherland
But who miss me?
See me a it
A husband, a friend
Father and son, who never comes home
But who mourns me?
Deeeeep
Thank you!
If you go to the Sabaton History channel, they have 2 videos about this song. One done in English, and one in Swedish
En Livstid e Krig. The Swedish cover of A lifetime of war. The 30 years war to be exact during the 1600s when King Gustav Adolph of Sweden invaded Catholic states of the Holy Roman Empire when the HRE tried to mess with Protestants. Sadly Gustav was killed during battle by a gunshot wound I believe. I say sadly because him and Carolus Rex are two fascinating kings at the time.
