Marcus Cole and Montrell Darrett with Mitch Jones and Karl Reid is a crazy combination of singers with distinctly contrasting styles and tones. But of course we know the standard will always be the original six...respect.
Montrel Darrett and Marcus Cole performed together, WWWHHHAAAT?! This is my first time seeing this video and honestly, I was looking for a live performance of the combination from Commissioned's "Times and Seasons" album, (Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Marcus Cole and Chris Poole,) because it's so rare and people don't really talk about Poole that much when Commissioned is discussed, and Montrel, also. I read through some of these comments and I saw that people disliked this combination, but I really enjoyed seeing the Cole and Darrett duo. I have wondered for years what could've happened if Darrett had stayed for the Times and Seasons album, although I think it was perfect and couldn't have been better (probably not as good with him.) I just don't understand the repellence. Marcus Cole and Montrel Darrett are incredibly talented singers, and they could really start a fire together just like Fred Hammond and Marvin Sapp could, just in a different way. The originals are one thing, but we can't ask the members that came along later to be a replacement for them. They all had big contributions to Commissioned being the best male group in Gospel music. This combination may have been a little strange, but we have to remember that they were performing songs from different eras in the group, this was a live performance, and at this time they had not all been performing together for a long time. Now, between the Irreplaceable Love album and the Times and Seasons album, (there were three between the two records,) get them a good lyricist, an album theme, and a vocal harmonizer to blend their voices, and you have another five star album in 1997, 98, or 99, before Chris Poole joined for the last studio album. Imagine the ballads they could've put together! The project could be called, "A New Direction," "Reasons," "Through the Valley," "Determined" or a self-titled "Commissioned Again" or something like that. Just saying, I'm sure that these sangin' brothers could've made something out of what a lot of people in the comments are calling nothing. Also, I was one of those people who was looking for Montrel Darrett in the Reunion they had in 2002. I later found out that Chris Poole was deceased so there was no consternation about that.
I taped (on cassette from the TV) this yeeeeeeeeaaars ago and if I didn't see it here now (and have the tape) I would still swear I was dreaming... Theses cats are SANGIN'.>!!! This may well have been the absolute BEST Commissioned was vocally as a cast... Mitchell and Marcus are my favorite singers and Commissioned is my favorite group... Finding this just made MY ENTIRE DECADE..!
Sang Karl, Mitchell ,Marcus, Montreal I pray Marvin and Fred and the man that sounds like he is a hundred voice choir in his throat Keith Staten reunite and all is included
Diehard Commissioned fan. However, going overboard with the runs has never really been their style. The presentation on the Reunion Concert was pitch-perfect!
Every artist has an identity that fits them.. Marcus and Montrel are great doing what they do, but as a group there is so much conflict in their harmonies... Commissioned strength is that they knew how to maintain a consistent style and not dominate the spotlight, or give the impression that their lead in a certain song was dominating the overall song... Marcus and Montrel are more soloists than group singers..I’ve followed Commissioned since they began..even when Marvin came in he Fit, it was undeniable that he was commissioned.. I am happy that the originals are back together today.. for those who don’t get what I’m saying, just check out any posts regarding “commissioned reunion 2019” on TH-cam..Organic harmonies always defeat forced..
The original members together have tighter harmonies. Too much of the traditional runs for a contemporary group. Commissioned never sounded like a traditional group. Sorry but it’s the truth.
Sounds more like boyz 2 men than commissioned. I love boyz 2 men by the way, but what set commissioned apart is missing in this performance. Not hating but I seriously don't like that montrel kat in this group.

Absolutely!
The Greatest group of all time!!! Just need Fred, Keith, & Marvin to complete this
Don’t forget Bishop Michael Brooks!!!!

Diehard Commissioned fan. However, going overboard with the runs has never really been their style. The presentation on the Reunion Concert was pitch-perfect!

Lascelles Mclaughlin I totally agree. Montrell would have been good, with Issac Carree, and Lowell Pye. Well lo and Ike were perfect for each other.
Dawkins and dawkins
They sounded good but it was way too many runs for me
dawkins dawkins
It just isn't the same without the original members. Marcus and Montrell are cool, but put Fred and Keith on the end instead. Maybe Marvin.
@MrLiveman2 Montrell is a beast too.

no commissioned without fred.....
this is suspect

Marcus cole is a bit much too.. one of them had to go 😂
I don't agree with you! Boyz 2 men confessed that Commissioned is their best group of all time. Montrell Darrett is a cool! i love him
