It is a great scape already! I admire your patience with the challenges. Have you considered adding algae eating fish to this to help out with the algae on hardscape? Another suggestion, if I may, get some Myriophyllum "Roraima" to grow on the corners. It is a beautiful plant for larger aquaria and it grows super fast. This might also help in the battle against algae. Keep up the good work, your gallery is amazing!
Thanks for the feedback! Both your suggestions are great… the lack of algae eating crew is due to my own stubbornness and financial budget with 5 medium-large aquariums. I’d add cherry shrimp as I have in other aquariums, but I fear they’d just become a meal🥲
Nice build! I'm going through diatom on glasses, which turns green after a few days of wiping it. Any ideas how can I rectify this issue? High-tech tank too.! Lighting is on for 7-8hrs '
Thanks! If it’s green, on the glass, and rubs off easily but comes back quickly, then it is most likely green dust algae, rather than diatoms. I am in the middle of editing a video on the subject, but in the meantime, leave it alone for a few weeks, drain the water as low as possible, and then wipe it off with a paper towel. By scraping it off, you are unfortunately making it spread more! Perhaps turn the lights down temporarily also. GDA is common in new aquariums. If you have a UV sterilizer, it is much easier to get rid of!
