A great reaction again. Definitely one of my favourite performances by Amira. This Ave Maria is a short famous aria, composed by Russian composer Vladimir Vavilov around 1970 and often misattributed to Renaissance composer Giulio Caccini, who was one of the founders of the opera musical genre around 1600. So, like the adagio by Albinoni, it's a beautiful pastiche. Anyway, it's a very elegant baroque pièce of music, and as you say, Amira made justice to it with her wonderful high register.
She performed this in May 2017 in Steenbergen in Netherlands, so she was only 13 years old... Pretty stunning.
By the way, classical musicians are used to cheer the solist when they found him really impressive, and of course this was the case in this performance...

Another great reaction to an exquisite performance by a young lady that has enthralled the world with her angelic, unforgettable voice. I’m still waiting for your reaction to Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church which is a favourite of so many of Amira fans. You’ve been incredibly good in reacting to so many Amira performances & for that I thank you.
    Cheers Graeme

Great reaction! What Amira has done here at the age of 13 is the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen. This is not the original arrangement of Caccini/Vavilov's Ave Maria. The original arrangement is difficult enough for sopranos to sing, but it's possible. Amira's arrangement is slow, the notes are very long, one after the other without a break. It's excruciating to sing. It requires absolute precision in the notes, both in projection and sustain, otherwise the mistake will be noticed. It requires exceptional lung capacity. It requires precise rhythm and timing. It requires maintaining a prolonged vibrato with no room for irregularities. In short, Amira has created a beautiful arrangement that only she can sing live. Amira has produced a spectacle of preciousness, excellence and beauty that no soprano can reproduce. Given the delicacy of the tone, I'm not even sure the late Maria Callas could do it.

My thoughts also, the tempo is punishingly slow and demands great discipline of mind and body. The more recent broadcast where she sings "When you wish upon a star " with her father is also unusually slow but as always she did the nigh impossible.

Music is not just to hear, but to feel. No one makes you feel like Amira.

I’ve only ever seen orchestras applauding two people, yes, you’ve guessed, Amira and Angelina!

This performance was at "Aquamusic" - for the opening of a new Marina at Steenbergen, The Netherlands. The musicians were on a large barge; the audience on shore nearby - which explains the apparent paucity of the applause. Amira was 13 (the date was June 2017). She sang five songs in all; this one was the Vavilov version of "Ave Maria"; all of them are on YT. The conductor set a painfully slow tempo, neither he nor the amateur orchestra were of the quality of Andre Rieu, but it didn't bother Amira. If you look up "amira ave maria you tube", you will find perhaps the best video of her singing this song. th-cam.com/video/f71JqZvzN2Y/w-d-xo.html

I just watched your reactions to Sterre... And now, with the same Vavilov's Ave by Amira, here is an opportunity to talk about the souls behind these two fabulous voices, regardless of their vocal qualities and their training.
Sterre's soul, more introverted, really flourishes in music of interiority, like Fauré or Handel (in order to understand what I mean, see her "Pie Jesus" she sang at 12 years old in memory of her deceased Grandfather).
Amira is more extroverted (not as much as Laura Bretan, but still) and above all more concerned with precision, as we can see in this very Ave.
The contrast between these two young girls is remarkable in this regard. Sterre's Ave is a mystical meditation, Amira's Ave is a work of goldsmithing.
BTW, you don't seem to have reacted to Laura Bretan or Melani yet, two other very interesting little divas.
Now, a word about some prodigies outside of opera. Since you seem amazed by the precocity of these young talents (and I am too) we must mention the champion, 5 years old Celine Tam in her "For The First Time In Forever" : th-cam.com/video/uozyn_DC0WU/w-d-xo.html
So young and so "professional"... I've never seen it before ! Even 7 yo Angie, Angelica, Rhema, Ngo Minh Hang or Esang didn't start this early.
I'm delighted to discover your excellent channel and I subscribe as much for its content as for your style (is it because we are the same age ? Possible !).

Very interestingly put your comparisons of Sterre and Amira.
Unfortunately Sterre has not posted many performances on TH-cam in recent years.

I have played in orchestras for years. Note how the orchestra brakes down and starts clapping. Not normal .
