There is a slight difference between communication strategy and communication plan. While communication strategy points the general direction and focuses on 'what to do' and why, a communication plan goes into the details of execution or 'how to' implement communication.
Hi Wa die, In summary, here are the steps to help you develop a communications strategy: 1. Statement of Purpose: State upfront why you need a Comms strategy and what you hope to achieve. 2. Current situation analysis: Highlight what your organization is all about and its communications strengths. You can use SWOT, PEST and Competitor analysis 3. Communication Objectives: Ensure alignment between these objectives and your organization’s objectives. They should be SMART and add value. 4. Identifying stakeholders: Define your target audiences in a detailed manner. Refer to your objectives for guidance. Also consider doing stakeholder mapping and ranking your audiences against criteria developed. 5. Messages: Develop messages to connect with your identified audiences. Start with the audiences that are the highest priority, and ensure the messages are clear and should follow the AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) model. 6. Key communication methods: For each audience, identify the best channel to communicate to them e.g social media, events, press releases etc. You may need to use more than one relevant channel to communicate your messages. 7. Work plan: Draw a table that highlights key communication activities, budget and allocated to deliver the communication strategy, 8. Evaluating success: The strategy should conclude with an evaluation section that captures what success looks like. It will help you assess success and know the extent to which your communication objectives were achieved. All the best!

In one video u give 5 steps and now this you give 8 steps... which is the right one or they are all applicable in different scenarios?
Thank you for your questions. The 8 step is a more detailed approach used commonly used by nongovernmental organizations
Is Communication Strategy the same as Visibility Strategy?
Not exactly. Communication strategy is broader and focuses on specific objectives one o which could be enhancing visibility.
