Well them four walls of Raiford, closing in on me Doin' three to five hard labor, for armed robbery I had two years behind me, but I could not wait the time Everytime I thought about it, well I died some more inside And I had stripes on my back, memories that hurt For the only time I seen sunshine is when I hit the dirt Diggin' ditches for the chain gang, sleepin' in the cold Oh Lord please forgive me for I could not wait no more And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus Well it feels so close this time Please take mercy on this soldier From the Florida-Georgia line When they find me they must kill me Oh Jesus save my soul I can't go back down to Raiford I can't take that anymore Well these last few years behind me Oh Lord, have been so sad I fought proudly for my country when the times were bad Now they say I'm guilty, when they find me I must die Only me and Jesus know that I never stole a dime And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus Well it feels so close this time Please take mercy on this soldier From the Florida-Georgia line Well when Vietnam was over there was no work here for me I had a pretty wife awaitin and two kids I had to feed Well I'm one of America's heroes and when they shoot me down Won't you fly old Glory proudly, put my medals in the ground And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus Well it feels so close this time Please take mercy on this soldier From the Florida-Georgia line When they find me they must kill me Oh Jesus save my soul I can't go back down to Raiford I can't take that anymore
Thanks for uploading! Any chance you'll be adding this years version of Curtis Loew? You do a great job with the Fan Club page but I have some non-facebookers I'd love to share it with. Thanks regardless.
CP pretty sure brotha. I know it's off pretty bad. Jamey J got the best cover by far and I would've guessed Charlie would have. Go figure. Guitar is bad sorry huge BBS fan live *3 times now.
This guy should do more stuff like this because i'm sorry but Blackberry Smoke looks cool and they sound good but they have no songs. They should just do covers. They are no Black Crowes not even close but they are better than most around today. This is not a knock against them they are like every other modern rock band. Cool clothes, killer gear, no original songs that are any good. But he sounds damn good covering some Skynrd. Let the attacks begin.
I agree completely. When I found out about the I listened to soooooo many of their songs. None of them were bad at all, just nothing that really moved me. Nothing stuck with me. Kind of a shame because I was/am rooting for them.
"No original songs that are any good." It's all subjective, as far as what qualifies as being, "any good". I can't speak for everybody reading this, but we probably would like to see your definition of 'any good'.
@@dwanpyrtle3134 "Sting Me" by the Black Crowes. "Stray Cat Blues" the Rolling Stones. "I know I'm losing You" covered by the Faces. "99 lbs" cover by Humble Pie. Thats just off the top of my head. None of those are considered hits. Bands in the 90s had better album filler songs than fuckberry smoke's leading single. Dont get me wrong i'm rooting for them but they cant write. Starr seems like a great dude but rock n roll is dying.
So you're defining 'good' as what is reffered to as a 'hit'? Might that also be translated as to revenue scores or sales? Or, is it what a radio programmer decides what is and is not? As I understand it, programmers said that they were too country for R&R, and too R&R for country. What might explain their popularity in live performances? Somehow, I don't believe Starr and the Turner brothers give shit what either one of us think. 😉 The Black Crowes also. I like the original voice of VanZant on this song a bit better, also Jamey Johnson's cover. But that doesn't mean this wasn't enjoyed and appreciated by me. I'll continue to buy their recordings and tickets to their shows.
@@dwanpyrtle3134 You totally missed my point by that first sentence. No i'm not defining good by a hit, not even close. All of that is fine. I'm just saying that rock n roll is in bad shape if this the best new stuff around. Its not horrible. But its so vanilla, no danger at all. If you dig it more power to you.
I was there when this was filmed. Eddie’s Attic. This is amazing. I still get chills.
If music lovers still loved good music this would have a million likes.
I can't take that anymore cuz they're playing it totally
Omgoodness Charlie Starr awesome as usual. I LOVE YOU
Written by the great Ronnie Van Zant and Jeff Carlisi of .38 special. Jeff played on original recording. Song should be in the Smithsonian. RIP RVZ
Keeping southern rock alive
I am so glad for BBS keeping real music alive and adding some much to the genre.
They are playing the song
Most underrated LS song, my dad was a huge fan, owned every album and I'd didn't hear this until 22 years ago at the age of 17
That is spectacular. Never heard it before. Oh, my God that is spectacular.
God DAMN Florida State Prison. All of em. Best damn Skynyrd song ever cut. I'd give my life to save that plane. Surely, I would.
That was fucking awesome
Benji Shanks = slide excellence
I always knew Charlie Starr could do right by this song.
Brilliant cover
This is an awesome song , a great job here, this song has been overlooked until now, thank you Charlie, Cousin Figel
Charlie is like the second coming of every amazing southern rock singer from the 70s . Just amazing. I'm blown away
Damn...
Just more KICK ASS MUSIC by Charlie!! Such a talented man! KEEP ON ROCKIN!!!🤟🤟
if you don't have a Confederate flag as your back drop like the OG Ronnie Van Zant you just aint paying homage.

I had two years behind me, but I could not wait the time
Everytime I thought about it, well I died some more inside
And I had stripes on my back, memories that hurt
For the only time I seen sunshine is when I hit the dirt
Diggin' ditches for the chain gang, sleepin' in the cold
Oh Lord please forgive me for I could not wait no more
And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus
Well it feels so close this time
Please take mercy on this soldier
From the Florida-Georgia line
When they find me they must kill me
Oh Jesus save my soul
I can't go back down to Raiford
I can't take that anymore
Well these last few years behind me
Oh Lord, have been so sad
I fought proudly for my country when the times were bad
Now they say I'm guilty, when they find me I must die
Only me and Jesus know that I never stole a dime
And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus
Well it feels so close this time
Please take mercy on this soldier
From the Florida-Georgia line
Well when Vietnam was over there was no work here for me
I had a pretty wife awaitin and two kids I had to feed
Well I'm one of America's heroes and when they shoot me down
Won't you fly old Glory proudly, put my medals in the ground
And I'm comin' home to see you Jesus
Well it feels so close this time
Please take mercy on this soldier
From the Florida-Georgia line
When they find me they must kill me
Oh Jesus save my soul
I can't go back down to Raiford
I can't take that anymore
What a treat it must have been to have been there.
If you listen to this song and realize it could happen to anyone of US it might hit home

is charlie playin' with the standert tuning?

CP Notice at :44 or so,he strums all strings open and it makes a chord.I'm thinking probably D tuning.
CP :27 also
Open E.
I'd expect that to be an open E tuning.
