    That's a step up from the humidity rod! I LOVE Kawaii Piano's. The seminary where I was playing for chapel has one and the touch is like no other.

    4:00 Thank you for the introduction to the Damp Chaser system. This video solved a mystery for me. When I attended a classical music concert, and saw a device blinking constantly, I assumed it was some kind of a security device to prevent theft.

    I am a piano tech here in the SF Bay Area. Dampp Systems are simply amazing. Best investment for a fine piano. If your Kawai is a performance series, they are very sensitive to temp and humidity changes (for tune stability). Piano owners don’t understand that the constant pull and release of the strings wrecks the pin block, making the tuning pins loose over the years. Your decision is SUPER, if expensive. Hate installing them, though… YAY!!!

    Thank you for sharing this information with your followers and viewers. I have installed many of these systems and this was a wonderful interview with a very knowledgeable technician that explained exactly how well these systems work.

      @@NatalieRaynesMusic Wonderful !! They have a very powerful lower register. Mine is over a hundred years old but the inside was rebuilt . The case is mahogany.
      Have you ever played a Bechstein or Bosensdorfer ?

    Hi from Michigan: I have a K. Kawai - KG-2E • 30 years old - I have this system on my furnace and all is well but the next time my piano tuner stops by, I will check into this system. Thanks for the cool demo and tip. 🚂 😎

    Natalie, very informative video, Thank You. I found your channel looking for a maintenance instruction for my Damp-Chaser system. We just had this system installed on our Yamaha YUX 52" upright piano past November 4th. Our Piano has a 1981 build production date. It was recommended to us by our piano tuner technician to consider installing this system and after considering the benefits, decided it would be a good investment. We live in Ontario Canada and the humidity fluctuates regularily. I just filled the tank yesterday for the second time, so the system used two tanks of water since installation, so 8 weeks for two tanks of water. The biggest benefit I see is the system will keep the critical wooden components that hold the tune of the piano strings in a perfect state of humidity and thus extend the service interval between tunings. This FAQ link I found has great testimony data comparing humidity inside a piano with the Damp-Chaser system to the ambient humidity outside the piano. The results are quite profound. www.alexanderpeppe.com/index.php/dampp-chaser/

    If you allow the reservoir to go dry, and the yellow light blanks and then the red light blanks, indicating your pads are dry just add water, and once the pads are moistened from the water, the yellow light stop blinking, and the red light stops blinking , and everything is fine again.

    I've heard mixed opinions on tap water vs. distilled. My technician said to use it, and even the website recommends it, I'm curious as to this guys point of view. I'd love to save some $$ if I don't actually need to purchase the water.

    how long do i keep a piano heater turned on? and is it safe to play whilst its turned on?

    • @NatalieRaynesMusic
      @NatalieRaynesMusic  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine stays plugged in all the time. Yes, you can play it as normal. It heats and cools as needed, keeping the piano at a perfect 42% humidity.

    Not sure if this will be practical during the Midwest winters. You will end up filling it with water every 6 to 8 hours with that small water jug.

    • @robertknox704
      @robertknox704 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not true at all. (Perhaps you are being facetious?). Our house is very dry in the winter and we need to replenish approximately every 3-5 weeks. The watering can is limited by the amount of water the humidifier tank can hold (so the tank does not overflow), and the size of that tank is limited by how much room there is in the bottom area of an upright or the area between the beams in a grand piano. In a very large piano, like a Bösendorfer 280 or Steinway D, there are actually 2 tanks to more adequately help with humidification.

    Sorry, but having a piano right next to an entry door, is already a bad start to keep a piano in good shape.
