I have been watching your yootoob videos for a several months now, but only came across this one this evening. I am a full time potter, UK trained, I had the honour of meeting Takeshi Yasuda during my university degree as he was a fellow of my university. So my experience of Japanese pottery has been of the classic, studio pottery style where people will pay hundreds of pounds for a yunomi or other tea bowl (the type you would expect to see in the most traditional tea ceremonies) presented in a traditional wooden box. I knew, academically, that this was not the only Japanese style, but hadn't come across anything of note. Thankyou so much for showing me the more contemporary or 'commercial' styles of Japanese ceramics, the every day styles. Now I REALLY want to visit Japan!

    Lovely video.
Just for more info the Tozan shrine porcelain gate is on of 3. It was inaugurated in the late 1880s and has been restored this summer!

I absolutely loooove your blue flower plate! So pretty and unique. The coffee cup was a cool idea I've seen them before but not as cute. The filter was interesting! It seems like magic

one way you can fix the leaky vase is buy a small resin kit - either from art supply store or hardware store (hardware store resin is usually chaper and it yellows over the years but who cares inside a vase) ;) - just mix it up and pour it in - tada! works like a charm

Lovely video. I would display the kimono plates on the wall of my kitchen. Is a gallery wall done where you live? I love love wood block prints that emphasize the architecture more than people or the floating world. I studied Japanese art history in college and it has affected my whole life so your videos are a welcome addition!

This video was so lovely! This my first video of yours and I cant wait to watch more. Im a potter and Ive studied arita porcelain throwing techniques for many years at the only officially connect school here in the US. We have had multiple visits from Arita potters and national living treasures. So I mostly only know about the hand thrown works of the masters in Arita so it is so wonderful to see things like the socket covering and that coffee cup which I love. I had never seen those before. This is just wonderful!

    Thank you for sharing this!
These porcelain gates are incredibly impressive, I am so happy to learn about their existence!
P.S. And this coffee kit is so cool, I think I'm going to look into it more, and maybe get it for myself!

Vasilina Sorokoputova thank you so much! The coffee set is awesome. We’re using it for about a year now and had no problems so far. Plus it’s zero waste ❤️ I hope you can go to Arita one day and see the porcelain gates 💕
