    Nice to see someone play it correctly. So many people doing this same video for this same song jack it up from the start with that first descending phrase. I also agree completely with B Phrygian as the prevailing "mode" if you need to think of it that way, but like you said, Nirvana was not writing this music for "theoretical correctness", rather it was written as purely a punk rock song, composed with 100% emotion and feeling, so I agree a music theory approach is not the best way to come at this piece.

    It’s just A minor since it ends on a fat A, doesn’t sound Phrygian to me at all but I see where you’re coming from.
    Chorus starts on the 5 which is e, and The G feels like it’s leaning towards A and not F#

      I also think the positions you’re using for the line are inefficient, but it sounds right to me.

    Krist is an amazing bassist but Kurt wrote all the parts.
    That doesn't take anything away from Krist, I'm just saying that's all.

      Hey thanks for the info. I actually suspect a lot of great bass lines aren’t written by the bassist themselves. Do you have a source for this? (Not doubting you, just interested!)
