What I like about nirvana is that the bass line often stands out. Usually basslines just follow the root notes of the guitar and you could play the song without bass. But from personal experience I can tell you that playing nirvana with only a drummer and a guitarist is very difficult
Nirvana's basslines are amazing. Krist did such an amazing job on every single one of them. I love Kurt and the guitar riffs. I love Dave and the drums. But krist often gets overshadowed
His bass playing philosophy was to "serve the song". Which he does masterfully. But he's not flashy. He just alternates down and upstrokes with a pick. Very simple and easily overlooked.

Nirvana has some great bass. Novoselic is a great bassist.
Agreed!
I think so too.

What an amazing memory to have, sorry for your loss
you cant play these riffs unless you are barefoot and have your bass nearly touching the floor
And are approximately 100 ft tall

That's cause it's not a nirvana song. It's an unrealesed Kurt jam.
sounds so good
Novoselic is a shockingly underrated melodic bassist, you really did him justice

All bassists are underrated! Most people just don’t appreciate what the bass brings to music. Everybody turns the bass nob up though!

Not a lot of margin for error for sure. Slip up one time on In Bloom haha
I agree!

A little fun fact :
Did u Know that in the group Sweet 75 krist IS a guitariste 😯
Thirty years later and the bass riff in Blew still blows my mind.
Kurt's too
I guess it blew you away
I think In bloom should be here too, it has a pretty cool bassline, but anyways great video!
True. Thanks!
@Shitpost random y mas okay bass police
Yeah that’s probably my favorite bassline
@Shitpost random y mas bass riff and bassline are the same thing. The line merely refers to the line of sheet music.
@Shitpost random y mas being the intro to the song doesn't mean it's not a bass riff.
the simplicity in nirvana's songs is what i cant get over
thats what makes them great, catchy and accessible, so people can play and appreciate the melodies
Remember one thing when playing bass: don't throw it straight up in the air! Sorry Krist; couldn't resist
I've done this one too many times
Lounge Act was the first bassline I learned when I got my first bass, absolutely amazing bassline to that song...that and the Seinfeld theme...
The bass rift for Lounge Act is ridiculously good. Krist is an animal.

Nivana's bass lines are amazing. Novoselic is one of the most underrated bassists. Amazing cover, man 👏👏
