Buyers do this regularly on eBay also. Buyers report they never got an item, Paypal refunds them with little to no due process, and the buyer gets the item and their money. The seller is just SOL.
I love PayPal and stripe as a customer, but I have mixed feelings as a seller. Seems they are more customer / buyer driven and not very fair for the sellers. They’ve always had my back when I’m the customer / buyer, but not when I’m the seller.

Somebody disputed me after the artist lied and said he got scammed, claiming he didn’t ever get the beat. The mp3 was 35, wav file is 55 he only sent me 35 asking me to send him the wav. So he fradulently disputed the charge. He didn’t wanna send the full amount for the wav. Never using PayPal again. PayPal sided with the customer even after all the evidence I provided

I am fascinated with this because I’ve had my share of drama with charge backs over the years with PayPal with physical items so I’ve always been apprehensive about non-physical merch due to the one-sided policies PayPal uses against sellers. I recently took legal action vs PayPal after they tried to fuck me over and I won my case. PayPal attempt to operate outside of the law even when you repeatedly state those laws to them in writing and on phone calls. Took me months but I won my case and PayPal were forced by the financial ombudsman to give me my money. Edit: Something to add, PayPal repeatedly lied to me about what they were responsible for.. worth mentioning.

Here in the UK we have a financial ombudsman service that regulate the banks and financial services and can issue punishment including sanctions, stopping them from trading, and so on. I took my case to them, and they collected the evidence, ruled in my favor, gave PayPal 1 final chance to appeal, and then forced PayPal to give me my money back.
