    Just so happened I have a mustard yellow sweater. And it’s the only yellow thing I own! Amazing I have an outfit ready and everything, I’ll set my alarm a bit earlier so I can convince my dad to make me French toast so I can have at least something bread. Blessed Lammas everyone!

    The corn husk dolls came out so beautifully, as well as the braided bread and your handmade sunflower seed oil. It's great that you make so many things from scratch and always put your heart into it. The saffron yellow dress and cloak are also so cheering. Your blessings poem is a wonderful way to honor the elements of Nature. Beautiful and heartfelt words. Thank you! 🌻💛✴️

    I love this. I want to make a bit of a note on the corn husk dolls, something I do make as well for both wicca as well as tradition. I love that you included them, but I wanted to add their history. The dolls actually originate from native american tribes, the cherokee(I'm Eastern Band Cherokee/Tsalagi) are most known for them and we still make them today, but I know other tribes make them as well. They are made for children to play with, and we have a legend about cornhusk doll having been made to by the creator after corn longed to play with children, only later to have her (cornhusk doll) face taken due to getting distracted by their beauty and not making it to the village to play. Colonies later took the idea and also began making them as well, and when corn was taken back to Europe it spread there to create new traditions and legends. I make them and honor both of my traditions.

    I like the corn dolls the most. When I was 13yrso. I picked a ceramic shaped like a girl corn doll. I painted, glazed, & fired it. I was so proud that I had it done & ready to give it to my great great grandmother. I'm glad that we can decorate the corn dolls. I'm looking forward to making them.

    Hello Alwyn your Lammas offering is Magickal 🌻
    Inspirational and respectful for mother earth 🍀🌍
    Love your little fairy' s antics🧚‍♀️ and
    the corn dollies are gorgeous ...they were also called spirit cages depicting the spirit of the corn....and had to tempted back to the field, after harvest this was in recent centuries documented customs that a couple would make love in the field shorn of corn to enact the regeneration of the crops ...The mysterious but potent corn spirit was lured into and captured by the woven corn dollies that feature at the festival also known as 'spirit cages '.....Blessed Lammas xxx🍞

    Blessed Lammas/Lughnasadh greetings my high priestess enchanted one 😊 I went out to the golden fields of barleycorn yesterday evening for marking our coming sacred Sabbat this Sunday. I may not get the chance then or after and as you know, taking full advantage of the glorious weather in the UK is a must as we just don't know when Goddess Nature shall decide to be moody 😂 wish I could share my magical photos and experience but like all important people both of our human vessels as well as our Spiritual souls, you were with me in thought and love with my ritual performed amongst those breathtaking golden and green hills. Your video as ever will inspire one or two activities myself and my daughter can work with in the home nearer to Lammas/Lughnasadh. As always, I appreciate, value and love you and what you provide. Blessed Be to you and yours 💚🧡❤️

    This is my first Lammas, I'm so excited to enjoy this witch holiday, and when it's one week away, I'm going to start my preparations, decorating my room and altar, and doing research for my book of Shadows. Just wondering, how could I celebrate Lammas in the broom closet? Thanks for this amazing video for my first Lammas and second Sabbat 💜

    • @irisvanderhoorn8017
      @irisvanderhoorn8017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      With broom closet you mean you don't want anyone to know you're a witch?

    • @AlwynOak
      @AlwynOak  3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Hi my love there are LOADS of ways! Wearing a particular colour, painting your nails, lighting candles (doesn't matter on the colour) and doing a mini ritual if you'd like! Going for a walk, spending time in the sun! The list is endless! Enjoy your lammas my love 🌽✨🌾☀️💚🌞

    • @EmilyMonths
      @EmilyMonths 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@irisvanderhoorn8017 yeah, pretty much, a broom closet witch is a witch who hasn't told anyone who isn't a witch (or anyone for that matter) that they practice witchcraft. This could be for many reasons but mostly bc ppl may be afraid of discrimination or stereotypical hate from ppl saying Witches worship Satan or must be burned

    • @JariDawnchild
      @JariDawnchild 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Do you know how to cook/bake/etc? Sorry if I come off as insulting, I don't mean to. The reason I'm asking is because of what I did while sort of in the broom closet: I did the cooking for everyone at mom's house (where I was living at the time). To them, I was cooking on that day because I wanted to do something nice for everyone and give my mom a break. To me, I was cooking the Lughnasadh feast. I prayed over the ingredients and later the finished food in my head, because I knew my family wouldn't appreciate hearing it. I had the kitchen to myself for most of that day and most of my attention to what I was doing as well; that's how it's been for generations: During the cooking process, someone was in there who wasn't involved in it, they got saddled with the clean up lol.
      Or if you prefer to not work in the kitchen, you could gather natural materials (or store-bought fake ones if anyone has allergies or athsma) and make decor pieces for the rest of the house so long as everyone else is alright with it, though you may be expected to clean around those items while they're up. As for the style if you decide to do that, go for something less "witchy" and more natural, and use the excuse that everything outside's so pretty but it's too hot to either open windows or be outside too long lol. Luckily most other holidays have some form of related inclement weather or allergens that tend to happen around their respective times of year, and many mainstream religious holidays are so witchy I was so tickled when I first learned I could throw myself into Yule and Ostara wholeheartedly because my family goes nuts over Christmas and Easter anyways, I just had to remember to keep the chants and rituals to my bedroom lol.
      As for how I was "sort of" in the broom closet, my family knew and were alright with my religion, but didn't want to see or hear any of it. So long as it stayed in my room, they didn't care. I know not everyone has the freedom I had, and considering I don't know your situation, I wanted to let you know the point of view I was coming from with those suggestions.

      If you bake and cooke, than bake (or just buy and eat) as much grain products as posibble. Think making pancakes for breakfest. And a quiche or corn for dinner. And for snacks you can eat popcorn, cake or cookies. In your head you can thank the earth for the grain. And appreciate it while cooking/eating.
      Put on some warm toned clothes, write 'to the earth' about how grateful you are.
      Tell your parents that you are going to a place that is 'normal' to them. But instead go to a forest nearby, or just a simple walk.
      Listen to music that is about lammas, with headphones on no one will know.
      Music options:
      Lammas-litha tiel
      Fields of gold-sting
      Lughnasadh-sabastian sanchez
      Lughnasadh-dam the bard

    Beautiful Alwyn thank you.I too have sunflowers in my garden. I have never seen the husks used to make the dollys before. Last year I made my dolly from lavender. I burnt the previous years dolly but perhaps burying feels better. Trying to pass on the wheel of the year celebrations when not in my immediate family and friendship circle and picking up from others like yourself to pass on to my young son feels challenging so love seeing others sharing. My young son trying to teach him the cycle of birth death and rebirth he loves the dollys so likes to keep them. Blessings to you for Lammas and thank you for the wonderful creative share xx

    Spirits living in the meadow, spirits in the corn.
    The green man is alive this Midsummer morn.
    As grain begin to ripen, nature bears fruit.
    Summer draws to a end , dreams take root.
    trees whisper secrets, powerful times to be.
    Cycles move was and wayne , they shall share all with me.
    air to fire, fire to water, water to earth and earth to air.
    Elements feed the spirit,as the harvest moon glows.
    At Lammas, thid day and night, witness nature’s might.
    Growing full And better tidings all.
    In naturae celebration preparing for darkness of fall.
    Now slowing down I mark this day.
    Protect my hearth, with the abundance of grain.
    The blessings of the all come again.

    You are so creative, I got sunflower 🌻 on my alter , I did not get a corn dolly or make one but I will do next year. I don’t live near any where I can buy corn like that. I shall make the sunflower oil though. Much food for thought. Happy Lammas and blessings 💖🐩🐩💖🌻🌻🌻🌻🌼🌼🌾🌾🧙🏻‍♀️🌛🌕🌜🕊🌈

    I love your videos! This was so beautiful. I hope to find a bread recipe I can use as I am allergic to all sunflower. Perhaps oat bread or a zucchini quick bread will work for me. The Dollies are precious. Your soft and kind manner is delightful. Thank you!
