If I'd been Deidre I'd have taken a mallet to that Ken Barlow. Such a condescending and slimy man. I'd have enjoyed doing it too. Smirk now!!
Jack telling Vera he loved her 😢😢😭 x
That banger car race storyline is ridiculous
Yes. Nobody cares.
Thanks for posting these, Lynne. Watching from Canada
@@lynnem3300 You're right, I'm sure that literally no one cares, it was dead before it started.
@@elterrifico9522 British expat, enjoying them from Maryland. But lived in Canada for 4 years. 🙂👍
Totally agree what’s the point sally in full made up hair and make up
2:38:33 “More baths than Cleopatra.” 😂 this has to be one of the funniest lines ever from Vera Duckworth!
Alf threatening to look the other way whilst someone Decks Audrey lol 😂
@PendleWitch01 Who can blame him? I find Audrey so irritating that she makes my whole body itch! I can't stand her facial expressions, the way she drags out her words, and the way she treats Alf.
You're alright Jack, Tina's already had experience with older men. Some guy called Bob...
Good old Bob 😂
🤣@@ciaranohara92
Haha x
Gail is infatuated with Nicky being clean. Just how many times can the poor lad be sent upstairs to either wash his hands, have a bath or to clean his teeth.
It always makes me laugh when out of the blue, one of the characters appears with a lovely tan. This time, it's Dierdre, Sally, Jack, Mike and Ken who all have smashing tans...the type you don't get from a Sunday stroll along Blackpool prom. I'm sure the actors concerned all had recent tropical holidays...
If I remember correctly Anne Kirkbride had a place in Spain that she visited every weekend. That might account for it!
It’s July, so I bet it was filmed in may/June. Could be a uk summer tan
I always get a great tan from the May sunshine...and I live in south Wales where we get mostly rain.
You don't have to go on a tropical holiday to get a tan.....silly comment🙄
Really? Corrie is pale city
Thankyou for these episodes xx
Why did Diedre leave Mike for Ken? He was and is SO BORING!
Alma is so shameless and embarrassing around Mike. Talk about laying her cards on the table.
Maurice Jones - the bringer of the next phase of the street and the end of the factory scenes and relationships.
1989 was a awesome belter of a year for Coronation Street. Arguably the best.
1984 for me.
Perhaps September.
1977
Terrible now Les Battesby was a good character 1990s
he was awful bro @@user-kl4bh4lq6r
Desperate, thy name is Alma 🙄
Miser, thy name is Alec!
User, thy name is audrey
Flamboyant thy name is Bet!
Alma is a right pain …#attentionseeker ….im told in real life she was very much ‘look at me’ …🤷🏼♂️😳🤔👎
The car racing story is so utterly boring.
So Gail goes straight from handling money at the till to making Percy's teacake with her bare hands without washing them. I'm guessing the food safety handbook was a lot thinner in those days.
Yes and that hair should be in a net
I wrote to Greggs about that as staff did the same in our local shop. Their reply was the usual waffle and no one way would they have someone working solely as a cashier.
And were we any the unhealthier for it?
@Nats99 were we eckaslike, a bit of muck does you good! 😉
Some observations... Percy... never liked his character. Jack and Vera... best soap couple ever. Ken... smug, smarmy git. So many brilliant, strong female characters. Why has it changed so much? They're so weak now.
And I didn't remember that Mike's factory made curtains back then!
Hilda and Stan were a great soap couple, especially with Eddie.
The producers have gone for quantity rather than quality in terms of characters, and sensationalist story lines over strong characterisation. It takes a long time to develop a character, and cast members come and go at a far greater rate than they in the first 20+ years. Not only that, but the programme has been increasingly used as a platform for highlighting specific social issues. I don't think this should be absent from soaps, but it works far better when it's woven in and refers to existing characters, rather than seemingly introducing multiple characters intended specifically to achieve that. But that's what you get when you triple the output.
@@shylinh5939 Brilliantly summed up.
Nicky has been playing up since when his Dad Brian Passed
Deirdres kicking arse i like it👍✊
I agree with Ken I don’t like the word mole use source instead.
Uuugh, Ken and Wendy with their matching hair….could be siblings! 😂
😂😂Ken smoothing his barnet after the councillor tried to rough him up!🤣
Kevin's moustache was on a whole other level.
whoo - ho and my favorite ever corrie couple begins , come on mike and Alma
Martin is like a gossiping old lady never misses a chance to stir the pot or he's back door creepin
Barlow is such a pompous prat. Deirdre once had the choice between Ken and Mike - she got the wrong one IMHO.
Spot on.
Agreed 👍
Mike's a proper Geezer
Sharp suits like James Whale👍
When I watched this when I was young I hadn’t realized what an awful man and husband Ken is. He’s a narcissist.
@@jayallen6488Exactly. Zero empathy and totally self-serving
Nothing like a loyal spouse eh Alfie!
Dawn sounds like she’s just delivering a monologue rather than smoothing things over with Rita. “All over and done with and I can get on with my life…”. Yeah, til autumn 😬
Always thought Mike was good hearted
A big flower on the banger really inspires speed!
Gail is a demon. Gone all day and the few hours a week she does see her kids she is screaming at them and telling them to shut up. What kind of mother says that to her child?
Agreed👍
It's not real
Is it not real did not know that 🛌
@@masterknife8423 obviously it’s not real, what a weird comment to make. I still have opinions on the show and the characters. Especially when it’s a “soap opera” you get pretty into the characters. It’s the whole point.
I don’t even understand why you would point out that TV isn’t real life?! Yeah, water is wet……we all know that.
I still stand by my original comment
@@masterknife8423 People are really like that though.
Wild eyed, permed haired, big necked, smoking voice, large glasses deirdre is here!
One of the best!
Poor Curley having to live with the Duckworths!
You just would would you. Rather be in prison
I cannot abide Wendy Crozier, sneaky council secretary, but she does seem a good match for Ken Barlow: in terms of smugness, self-righteousness, craftiness and bouncy blonde hairdos. Why Deirdre didn't stick with Mike in 1983, goodness knows, but if she had, I suppose she'd have deprived Alma - who's desperate and abrasive at present, but eventually softens to vulnerable and lovable - of her best storylines to come.
Wendy Flamin' Crozier!
If I was Deidre, I would start talking to the gazette.. take them down to all the homeless and try to get them to write the story her beloved husband wdnt write.
If I was Deirdre I would have hired a private investigator to follow Ken for a few weeks, find the mole he was meeting with and got them sacked, then divorced Ken for being a smug, arrogant prawn.
@@tazzie2shoos…have you any idea just how much those people charge, you’re talking a couple of hundred a day or more, they don’t follow people round for the minimum wage.
@@deborahwatson2730 I do, but I guess it depends how important it is to you. In 1 or 2 weeks a PI can catch a lot of info for you. I would do it, even if I had to tighten my belt drastically, so I could get on with the rest of my life. People will pay over £1k for a mobile phone, buy cars, widescreen tvs, holidays - but they won't invest in finding out if they are being taken for a ride.
@@deborahwatson2730 The council could have paid for it. They wanted to know.
That Mark lad was alright - played the part well - I wonder what he is doing now - Hope he is happy ans doing good
G Plus repeat was early January 2002
Arrogant Ken!
Kevins the last tash in town it's got to go it looks ridiculous 🦖
lol lol percy and his tinned meats , and don sniggering ,hilarious bet they had fun making this
Alf needs to reevaluate his stock. Corned beef is a popular delicacy and he’s run out. TO BETTABUY!
Question Percy’s Lancashire roots at your peril!
What is Deidre carrying around with her in that enormous bag?
The last episode was recorded on a Sunday
Tina has a terrible way of treating people all to her benefit.
Think Alma slipped up? when her and Mike were in the Jag she should have reached for her seatbelt as they drove off? but she folded her arms instead 😊
1:27:48 "I had a rather substantial lunch" who speaks like that !? Stfu Ken 😂
🤣🤣so true! To his wife as well! Ridiculous
I think Maurice jones and Deirdre would have been a good catch it the scriptwriters had written into the script. Maurice was fine catch.
That wallpaper in the cafe gives me a headache😵💫
1:12:18 Jack's American accent made me p*ss, absolutely hysterical
Sally 🔥🔥🔥
😂
Good on Gail for putting nasty Nicky in his place.
Martin & Gail look like siblings
Mother and son more like! 😆
That Don character in the cafe just barged in and got served before the poor extra woman - Must think he is better than her because she dont have a speaking part and cant complain
It was probably just in the script 😅
I remember my Gran saying she was speaking to someone who went to school with that Wendy Crozier character and she said she was just the same back then always grassing the other kids off - Windbag Wendy the used to call her
Considering Wendy is a character, and the actress's real name is Roberta Kerr I'm not sure I believe you
Alma and Audrey are class one gold diggers
To me this is he beginning of the end of quality for Coronation Street. The car rubbish!! Yawn, yawn, yawn! Alma too obviously annoying! And Tina really lightweight. Implausible story lines! Why??? Before this I couldn't fault it!!
It's hardly the enigma code Deirdre, dialling 1471 would sort out your problem 🤷🏻♂️
Don't think 1471 was a thing back then.
@walt 1984 you’re right it wasn’t! 😉
