What a fun project! Each year I make ornaments for the people in my office. I have no idea how I can too this next year. They’re adorable and easy to make following your tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! Great tips. I would love to be able to find the large snips in the US. It even seems that the French Amazon is out of them. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this, I’m a total embroidery novice but watching this brilliant tutorial makes me feel more confident to actually use my lovely machine! I know someone else asked about adding text and you kindly provided a link to a separate tutorial, but can you please explain at what stage it would be best to add the text? Just after the quilting of the globe and before the backing maybe? Sorry if that’s a stupid question! Many Thanks
Hi Clare thank you pleased you enjoy them. Not a stupid question at all, you are absolutely right, you add the text after the quilting and before the backing. Happy stitching.
I watch your videos and see you taping things down. I am wondering what kind of tape you use. The tape I use, doesn't stick very well. Thank you for creating the videos. They are very helpful.
You're welcome Felicia, thanks for watching. I use the cheapest masking tape I can find because the cheaper stuff sticks better than the good stuff. Try a different brand they are all different one day you will find one that works for you, then stick with it pardon the pun!.
Hi Minno thanks for watching. To answer your question it is a good idea to train yourself to do so as it is too easy to forget to do the back. I cant tell you how frustrating it is when you stitch to the end to find out you had forgotten the back. The answer is you don't have to but it is wise to. Hope this helps you.
Hi Sheila if you watch this video at timestamp 4.16 I show you how to use you machines built in fonts to add text. You would need to do a test stitch first by hooping some cut away stabilizer and stitching your text out on that first before doing it on your bauble to make sure it will fit., you don't need to add any fabric as it is just a test for size. th-cam.com/video/IAVdCa8g7bs/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=KaysCutz
I did not catch what you used for plastic. This is the only thing holding me up from making this awesome design. Any suggestions? I am in America, so forgive me if I miss a word! Thanks! ( I LOVE your videos, they are the best tutorials I have found!
Thank you pleased you enjoy them. I use clear vinyl table covering, the sort you put over a table cloth when you have kids to protect from spilks from drinks. Happy stitching.
@@KaysCutz, brilliant! We have those cheap at party stores! I know what I'll be making today! I have a feeling winter here in the States will be spent mostly at home, I will never run out of projects to try with all your incredibly helpful videos!
Thank you for another great article. Please could you advise did you fix the hanger to the front or back of the stabilizer. It seemed to have disappeared from the finished globe lol. Sue x
@@KaysCutz I understand now. Thank you. I messed up my hanger by cutting through it when trimming. So added to the back but it got caught up so bin is the best place for it. 😞
Hi Janet, stabilizer is the foundation of your building it stops the fabric from stretching and twisting during stitching, if you dont use enough the satin stitch edges will pull in rather than lay nice and flat. Most stitch out problems are caused by not enough stabilizer, you are better skimping on cheaper fabric than on an extra layer of stabilizer.
Vinyl tablecloth plastic in fabric store/wal-mart. Get the thin stuff. OR try a dollar store vinyl shower curtain, or a vinyl document protector or cut up one of those zip bags that sheets and comforters come in from the store.

Thank you so much for the great video! Question - what is the metallic fabric that you used?
Hi Hobbit13mg, it is fine glitter vinyl. Available on eBay and Amazon. Pleased you like this video thanks for watching
Hi! Newbie here. Excellent tutorial; thank you! One question. Why do you always trim the “back” fabric before you trim the front? Thank you!
Kay - Did you use metallic silver for the base or just silver thread? Another great tutorial as always! Love them!
I used regular silver coloured Simthread Jackie. Their gold and silver thread looks metallic but it isn't. The fabric was fine glitter vinyl.
@@KaysCutz Thank you! It was hard to tell from my phone!

I forgot to add it to the front so I added a clip in showing where it should have been added. Then I stitched one on the back later.

What is the reason for the two layers of stabiliser?

Where to get the plastic, is there a certain kind?
Wal Mart

No just think transparent vinyl table cloth. I cant tell you where to buy it as it depends where you are in the world.
