Pros and cons to everything. Ultimately the driver is responsible; responsible for driving safely, responsible for complying with state and federal law. If a driver is too tired to drive they shouldn't drive and if the dispatcher doesn't like it, tough. You won't go to jail for not driving.

26 years. It's been tough at times. It's allowed me to earn a living I never thought possible for someone with only a high school education. I've run "home every day" runs about half those years when my kids were growing up and I think those were harder than running the road. The kids and the ex never seemed to understand that when their days started at 700 in the morning I already had 3-6 hours in. Working 12-14 hours a day, 65-70 hours a week, sleeping 3-5 hours a night and then dying on Friday evening when everyone else wants to go party, coaching kids sports teams, trying to attend school functions, wondering if a boss or company were going to screw you over that day? Knowing the only way to take care of those who are depending on you is to run yourself in the ground. It's been a helluva party. I'm hoping that in a few years I can slow down and in a few more years park it for the last time. I'm ready!

Now that right there is a TRUCK. That is a serious, no joke, no bullshit, no flip-flops real man’s truck. Most of these new drivers today wouldn’t have the balls or the skill to be able to even start a rig like this, never mind drive one.

Yes over regulated but who is regulating the industry now?!! The same people who operated with little to no regulations 35-45 yrs ago!!the question is why? They dont want US to make the same kind of money they did!!
