Medan is home for descendants of Hindu Tamils as well as Muslim, Hindu & Sikh Punjabis. I've been friends with a Sikh guy who was born & grew up in Medan. His family's capati is the best of all ❤️
We javanese are very proud of our hindu ancestor,most of still using the Pandavas name such as Bimo(Bheem),Nakula Sadewa for twins,Wisnu,Rama and all related to old indonesian Hindu.some of old temple quite preserved

Tarumanegara was shivaist not visnu. The mataram, kadiri, singhasari most common religion was buddhist later majapahit adhere the siva-buddha from mataram era, even chinese record in Tang and Ming mention that majority of java adhere buddhism (it was probably siva-buddhism).

Cibuaya, Tanjungpriok, Tanjung Barat, Gunung Cibodas, Ciampea in all the archeology sites listed above had been found various remnants of taruma kingdom such siva, durga, lion, brahma, visnu, elephant statues. In deed taruma was shivaist just like how we see in central java kindom eventhough technically they are shiavist we can still find visnu remnants.
Ok friendly reminder to all foreigners out there, in java not all of us were Muslim, they are many non muslim aswell living on java, so kinda harsh saying java is Muslim on the title but anyway kinda understandable because you were foreigners from India that most of the time the people that have different religion were living at separate area there, but not in Indonesia, we live together no matter what religious beliefs we follow.

Jauh sebelum ada hindu fan budha org nusantara sudah ada dan jelas jelas punya tauhid sendiei bahkan di tanah pasundan sebelum datang islam mayoritas menganut sunda wiwitan yang dmna masih ada beberapa wilayah yang masih mempraktekan budaya sunda wiwitan bahkan keluarga saya juga masih mempraktekan adat istiadat dan prinsip sunda wiwitan, gak ada hubungannya dengan hindu budha.
Kalau ada yang nanya mana peninggalannya, dalam kepercayaan sunda wiwitan keimanan itu bukan pada simbol dan bentuk yang di pertuhankan dan tidak ada kuil kuil karena kepercayaannya lebih kepada tauhid monotheisme bakti pada alam sebagai bentuk rasa syukurnya pada titipan dari gusti pangeran sang hyang widi.

Hi Punjabi Traveler. You must visit Medan, my hometown in North Sumatra Province. We've got lots of interesting spots to visit such as Toba Lake, Berastagi, Bukit Lawang and many more. There are communities of Indians like Tamils & Punjabis, that have been living in Medan since the 19th century.. The Sikh Punjabis have a big Gurdwara in my neighborhood in Medan. You'll see Indian descendents minggle with the local people. Enjoy Indonesia, Bro 😁.

Im javanese muslim, my ancestor was a king in Java. Me and my family loves to visit ancient Hindu temples and Buddhist wiharas.
If we visit Bali we like also to do ritual of purification in Hindu temples, to get rid bad things, bad aspects from our side.
Since there are no rules or law to forbid non Hindu to enter temples. You can visit Hindu and Buddhist temples, Churches, Mosques even though you are follow different religions.
Balinese ancestors originally from Java, so thats why Balinese like to visit Java and Javanese to visit Bali... in here Im talking more about spiritual aspect reason.
I have many Indian friends from my study time in Sydney, Australia. I like to meet them and also visit ancient Hindu temples in India... but I once read that many Hindu temples in India forbid non Hindu to enter inside temples.
