This woman has changed my life , I found her channel about 3 weeks ago and I went from not moving off the couch to making good meals and taking care of myself , I try to be just like her , I feel happy again
Same love! Have started going back to church, me and my husband and I wake up every morning early and exercise now and I cook a lot more, just trying to better myself everyday 😅🙏🏻

Everyone is unique unless you are an identical twin.
@@mircat28 true, but this family isn’t like most. It isn’t your “typical” American family. Some are biological, some adopted, some fostered, all from different backgrounds and all unique in their stories and characters to how they got where they are now. So this family in particular is unique and wholesome for those reasons which separate them from most.
Alicia……..you are doing such an amazing thing….it doesn’t matter what colour your lipstick is or if you let your kids eat what comforts them…….how you and your husband have lived your life so far and continue to live has put fire in hearts of so many people……you have put love, stability, safety, confidence, (the list goes on) in the minds of the children lucky enough to have fallen into your path along their difficult journey…..I have been subscribed and watched you for a while now and I’ve put my 2 pence in here and there 😊 you say it just works because you have really good kids…..The reason your kids are so good is because of you 100%. I cried at the beginning of your interview and I NEVER cry xxx

Just recently found your channel!! You are definitely amazing, spectacular!! I wasn't in foster care, that long- only because lost mother in MVA at age 14,
w/ o dad (single parent family b4 accident). 6 years total in 2 different homes- both awesome!! One of my BFFs after having 2 biological children; decided to foster n adopt 2 children, both as infants; all the while she was going through cancer!! - in late 40's no less!! She left this earth too early late last year!! 😭😭😢😪😥

I raised foster kids as well. They were in my house so they were mine. All teenagers because they were harder to place. I had 5 of my own and 10 foster kids, they still keep in touch with me.

This interview was so inspirational. I love how you were willing to show us real life and how you use a sense of humor to get through difficulties. It is helpful to hear all of your tips and ideas as well!
On the homework topic.. I see and believe these parents are providing a loving, nurturing, safe environment. Which radiates positivity. Mom and dad take care of basic needs, allowing the children to be able to focus on school. I can say in my own life my mom slept all the time, dad was busy at work, house a mess and basic needs not med (aka meals provided consistently, clean laundry) I couldn't focus on my studies because I had so much on my plate, didn't feel safe and school work was the last on my list. This family is a great example of what most children want

Every video I watch impresses me more and more. I definitely understand just looking past behavioral issues. My youngest son is/was autistic (I said was because at this point I don't even think he would test anywhere on the spectrum.) I took him out of school when he was 15 and basically just let him heal himself... gave him games and blank notebooks and he actually homeschooled himself at a far faster rate than I could have, which makes sense because autistic kids are crazy smart. But yeah... he actually has a couple of trades now, HVAC and welding, so he'll be able to make a good living for himself. But now that they're out of the house, it's a different type of time management skill to make sure my own needs are taken care of.
Myself and my twin brothers were born 13 months apart . My mom had 5 under 5 , but you are so right it's a twin thing . They fought but you had better never hurt one of them or the other would come to his side fast. I Love this interview. I have learned so much about you and your family . My children are gone , but for one daughter who lives here with " hers " our 3 kiddos 14 ,10, 6 but they have always lived here. You have taught me so much about patience and not sweating the little things . I just Love you . It weird how you can feel another moms Love for another and just you being you ,not meeting but just Love ya 😊 you so much 💓.

I’ve always wanted to be a foster/adoptive mom and I’m lucky enough to have found a man that wants the same life as me! We have an almost 3yr old son together and we want some more! You make me want a big family you’re definitely someone I look up to and watching you do what you do everyday gives me the motivation and helps me know that I can do it. You’re a queen!👸🏽💞
Best wishes as you expand your family. I’m nearing the process of fostering (to adopt), but also during circumstances when family reunification is possible. 💛

More than just foster care; she is teaching ppl how to be in a loving respectable yet with values home life. As well as inspiring others with the realism yet being productive making individual lunches, breakfast, snacks n dinner. Showing love n compassion to children she may not have given birth to but all the same taking care of their wants n needs while acknowledging how just having snacks to reach for without fear or judgement and toiletry items provides a basis for safety n security. I now enjoy cooking for even just dog or he, my husband & I. 🐢🐢🐢Cara
As a Rochester NY native myself, we need more people like Alicia! Kids in the inner city don't have positive role models or any type of outlet. I hope the Dougherty story spreads around the community more. I only just found their channel a few days ago as a suggestion by TH-cam.

I don’t follow or comment a lot. But the way you asked the kids for input and made sure they were heard and got to be apart of the conversation made me want to cry. I was the youngest of 3 and my mom always let me speak no matter my age. And therefore now I never feel like I can’t voice my opinions in any walk of life. I truly have always wanted to adopt and I watch you everyday and feel like I definitely can do it. So happy for you and your family. You ALL are amazing. ❤

Man I really wish I had a family like this when I was in foster care. You are truly an angel.
I 💖💖💖the way she used the words "predictable routine". I have only ever heard most head of bigger or busier families state words such as " strict" or a "tight ship". That implying there is a LOT more forced control & forcing the family to do things their way or face the consequences. This could even be said with 2 kids who are forced into many activities & are barely allowed to develop their personalities & be a kid. While kids need routine to be able to feel secure with consistency. Such as knowing she is up making breakfast n after school snacks. Anyway I admire her heart, laughter that she really does enjoy life...be it silly something their kids do or say.🌼 🐢🐢🐢Cara

I raised my 5 kids. They were grown by the time I was 40. Now I am 59 trying to raise 3 grandkids. The 4 year old I am with 24 hrs a day we all live together. This lady gives me hope I can make it through each day. It's hard at my age but it has to be done.

I ❤ Love that you helped heal people that were in the foster care but are not adults. This grandma 65 you 41 have help me with my grandchildren and also just feeling my heart with love ❤.
All the kids are so cute, now I want a diverse family. I’m 27 with no kids and I think now that I’m older I’ll have two of my own children and adopt or foster other children. Kids deserve to live in their youth, you’ve really inspired me.
