Thank you for making this! I've tried container roses for the last two years with complete failures. Was going to give up but now going to give it one more go with a David Austin!
I live in NE Oklahoma, very humid zone 6. I'm not no good at growing roses. I'm going to try to grow 1 this like this, hopefully I can get it to grow.😂
That Iris and Baptisia plant are stunning. I just planted 2 David Austin roses this year, one in a huge container. Then saw your Generous Gardener rose and I had to have it 😂. Both of them are doing great. Have a blessed day.
Your flowerbeds are really looking beautiful! It's always exciting when everything is waking up in the Spring! The roses will look fabulous in their new home. In the past you have topped your containers with mulch. Do you still do that? I think it's a nice finishing touch.
Good morning everyone 🌞 I want some David Austin roses so bad. Guess who's going on a scavenger hunt this week.... Yeppers me 😊😊😊 with you and Laura whispering in my ear...you need some David Austin in your garden....how can I not go and find some 😂😂
Happy 1st birthday to your two flower beds. They are absolutely gorgeous. It’s amazing how much growth has happened in only a year. Jenny thanks always for teaching as you take us along. I always learn so much from you when you’re planting. I appreciate the who, what, why, when and especially how explaining you do. It’s a lot of talking yes. But know that so many of us are over here listening and learning!
I love your videos! I learn something new every time I watch. Love the urns. Keep up the great work! Love watching Brenna. Thanks for "letting" her participate!!
Thanks for supporting the appropriate idea of using good potting soil and adding compost. I find it difficult when I watch other well known youtube gardeners telling novice people to add new potting soil to old to "refresh" it. How could they ever be successful in container gardening.
Jenny you are a hoot to start my day with! Thank you for the details you share. It really helps all of us when planting our own gardens. We leave for Europe Friday and believe it or not what I’m looking forward to is returning and visiting you at the nursery. I’m already making my list 😊
Omg David Austin is addictive, only got into them this summer 23 and have 28 now 😮 NYE Bevan created our free health service he was Welsh . Your pots are so perfect for Lizzie and NYE .
I can’t wait for my 2 barefoot Elizabeth roses to come in and also my 2 Lady of Shalott. My Oso easy roses didn’t make it through the Arctic blast 😢 so I needed to replace them and I saw Elizabeth and needed it and Lady of Shalott was too gorgeous to pass up!
Look at my stick..you can't get it from me! Your dog cracked me up because my Golden does that too! Jenny, I'm giving my two hibiscus to my sister. They require SO much water. That whole bed is getting a major do over with perennials that thrive without so much water. I have two David Austin roses- Lady of Shalott which is a climbing rose and Roald Dahl. Thanks for your videos and I wish I lived closer.
My word friend! You woke me up to more DA Roses 😍 like you read my mind. I’ve been on the fence with trying to container grow ‘Vanessa Bell.’ Let’s see if she is still available to order 💻😉
23:44 I love how you keep it real, Jenny. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve tried to plant some thing with one hand and transfer heavy soil with the other.
Thank you so much for this! I will plant a David Austin rose in a container as soon as it warms up in Toronto. We had a Belgian Shepard who was a complete ringer for Brenna! I so enjoy watching her in your videos!!! Thanks for sharing her with us! Cheers from Canada.
love your GSD, pup pup almost got ran over-need to train to stay back(been there). you never have enough plants roses. I would like to get a stone planter like that first one but no one carries them or deliver. photo bomb-look at my stick mom, caught it all on my own. sorry but pup makes the video
Perfect timing for me, just got two barefoot roses and trying to decide on ground or potted. I'm going potted after watching this and I'll follow your guidance. Hope Mine do as well as yours!🥀🌷🥀
Can't wait to see the blooms on your new potted roses. Can you please do a video when you stake your rose standard. I have a D.A. Rose standard that I have to re-stake and I'm nervous about disturbing the roots. :)
Love your videos! You do things right. One thing I didn't hear mentioned was drainage holes. Are there drainage holes at the bottom of your planters? I understand good drainage is of upmost importance with roses.
I love your videos, from the inspiration, the reality comments, sharing your favorite plants and introducing us to new varieties and products. What is the asymmetrical evergreen near the Elizabeth rose container, about 6 feet tall?
I'm getting ready to pot up 5 proven winners roses, I really need to know the recipe for the potting mix, please, I just can't seem to hear what you put in after the pine bark in the bottom.
We came back from Florida and found a bird’s nest in one of my flower pots. checking on the nest yesterday a bird flew out and I could see a just hatched egg. I don’t want to disturb her, so won’t be checking often. It is on my front porch.
I just planted the bare root Scepter’d Isle rose about a week ago. I promptly forgot about it and mowed over it! 😢 I just have a little stump now 😩 hopefully it will grow back 🙏🏻
How beautiful the roses will be in the new containers! I do have a question about standards ( both roses and hydrangeas), which I'd love for interest. How big do the tops get on roses and hydrangeas? Trying to determine how much width they need dedicated to them in the landscape to be successful.
You have made your property so lush and beautiful. I was wondering what type of grass you planted. It looks as if it doesn't have those annoying runners that make it so hard to maintain.
good morning Miss Jenny....Your Julia Child rose standard has proven to be a quite the tough cookie since your daughter saved her....could you show us how to properly stake a standard that has a lean to it as she does....the roses I'm sure will be a stunning addition to your garden
Jenny I always love watching your videos, so interesting and informative. I Do have a question, what brand compost do you use and also does the color stay dark when you leave it on top of the soil?
Please tell me what you sell for Japanese beetles as prevention. I put down some organic milk spores but there was something else you recommended.Thank you!!
I would just like to say if you live in a colder zone the rose you are growing in a container should be at least two zones lower than the zone what you are growing in otherwise the containers should receive winter protection. Bonny zone 5b
Just bought my first David Austin because of this video! What are your thoughts on planting it in an Aquapot, since no rocks can go in the bottom of it?
Where did you get your fertilome fertilizer that you put on your roses One cap full once a month it is a dry fertilizer like osmacote sorry about spelling. Thanks Jennie
I have found that when I leave the plastic tag on the rose over the winter, the cane it's on dies back. Have you found the same? It could be a strange coincidence but now the first thing I do when planting is remove that tag.
My husband bought me an Emily Brontë for Christmas and it came quite early in Feb. I followed all the instructions on the website but sadly it just slowly declined and everything browned up. I was so sad to lose her. DA is refunding me however theyare no longer shipping bareroots. I am trying to decide if I want to try again with a potted version. I was really looking forward to trying one in a container with sweet alyssum as her skirt. The PW white knight took off like gang busters! Do you think I’d need to start all over with fresh soil?
Annuals can suffocate your beautiful rose, if you plant them in the same pot. I personally grow roses in containers for many years, and the rule is one container one rose. As far as I know, root system of roses cannot compete with other plants, that is why traditionally they were grown separately from other plants. But I wish you good luck and hope for the best for your gorgeous roses.
It depends on what you are planting. And Roses have deep roots once established. Annual roots are fairly shallow. Her pot is plenty big to accommodate some annuals. It'd be an issue if she didn't have a drip system. Since they have one established at the get go...she'll be fine.
How do you keep your garden beds looking so good? No weeds! What do you advise I can do/use on my garden beds besides me pulling out the weeds by hand 😢
I pull weeds in my beds by hand. That is the safest way to control weeds around plants. You can spray the weeds or use a pre-emergent like Preen, but you have to be careful with both as they have the potential for damaging/killing the plants you do want in your garden.
Jenny, could you please tell me the approximate width/depth of those 2 containers? I have 1 Rose in a container about 18" diameter and 22" deep. Wondering if I need to up the depth. I planted it Bare root in fall 2020. 2021 it flowered abundantly, 2022 only got about 5 flowers, and now it broke dormancy about 3 weeks ago and I moved it to get more sun so hoping it flowers better this year. Zone 6 Paris suburbs. I covered it against our coldest nights and days in the dead of winter. The Y1 and this year it got/will get at least 9 hours of Summer Sun. Y2 it got about 6 full hours of sun. I did prune lightly each year in March. Thanks❤.
You mentioned Itoh peonies not being up yet. I planted an Itoh peony in the fall (Cora Louise) and nothing is happening with it. There is a little stump that looks dead and no new growth coming up. I'm in New England zone 6. What do you think? Is it dead? Or maybe it just needs longer?
I have never related more to a TH-camr than the "I don't need anymore of ... oh ... yes I do" bit at the beginning of this video.
I love the little Anole lizards; they always eyeball you as if you've done something rude. 😂
I was doing a staring contest with one today, and I was thinking your same thoughts 😆 🤣 😂
Odds are I probably did something rude 😂 jk
Enough is never enough when it comes to flowers! 🙂
Thank you for making this! I've tried container roses for the last two years with complete failures. Was going to give up but now going to give it one more go with a David Austin!

Just got my First David Austin’s. Got a Generous Gardner as I have loved watching Jenny’s grow. Thank you for breaking the steps down for us.
I hope you love it as much as I do!
Gorgeous container Jenny. Anything planted in that would be beautiful.
I love your videos! You crack me up and have great information. Thank you so much for all you do.
Your flowerbeds are really looking beautiful! It's always exciting when everything is waking up in the Spring! The roses will look fabulous in their new home. In the past you have topped your containers with mulch. Do you still do that? I think it's a nice finishing touch.

Everything looks beautiful Jenny!
I love your videos! I learn something new every time I watch. Love the urns. Keep up the great work! Love watching Brenna. Thanks for "letting" her participate!!
Beautiful garden . U make it better every day ❤. Learn so much from u. Love ur informative and inspirational videos. Can’t wait to see them. Thanks
Thank you Jenny, I’m getting ready to plant bare root roses and would never have thought to cover the roots that deep. Wish me luck!
Beautiful urn's and I love the rose's you planted.❤
Hey Jenny!
Roses in containers are very convenient! Every day you can change the exterior of the garden!
Thanks for supporting the appropriate idea of using good potting soil and adding compost. I find it difficult when I watch other well known youtube gardeners telling novice people to add new potting soil to old to "refresh" it. How could they ever be successful in container gardening.
Jenny,
My mother's name was Elizabeth ❤❤❤, so I love that one best!
OMGosh, what massive thorns Nye Bevin has!!! 😯
Jenny you are a hoot to start my day with!
Thank you for the details you share. It really helps all of us when planting our own gardens.

Such great information 🎉😊
Can't wait to see them 😊👏👏👏🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Love the new roses and putting them in containers is going to help them pop in your garden.
Omg David Austin is addictive, only got into them this summer 23 and have 28 now 😮

That beautiful blue Carolina sky !!!

Those containers are going to be beautiful! 😮
Hey Jenny i love roses thanks for sharing
They will look beautiful! The whoie backyard looks awesome!
Love the pots you have planted your roses in!
Thank you❣️

Great watching how you planted in a pot, I am hoping to get two David Austin roses to put in pots on my porch. Loved your pot!
Such a beautiful transformation, Jenny!🧡💜🧡
Thank you so much for this! I will plant a David Austin rose in a container as soon as it warms up in Toronto. We had a Belgian Shepard who was a complete ringer for Brenna! I so enjoy watching her in your videos!!! Thanks for sharing her with us! Cheers from Canada.
I'm so jelly you can plant roses
Wish I had those beautiful urns. I know they will survive. I hope my rose flowers more
this Spring, perhaps she needs a 'fancy' pot.
Love roses they are so special the colors are beautiful. Your garden is beautiful
Both roses are gorgeous 🍃🌸🍃
love your GSD, pup pup almost got ran over-need to train to stay back(been there). you never have enough plants roses. I would like to get a stone planter like that first one but no one carries them or deliver. photo bomb-look at my stick mom, caught it all on my own. sorry but pup makes the video
Star, Mississippi!!!! I used to teach in Star at McLaurin Elementary! Such a nice place. 🙂
I didn't even see that lizard when zoomed in. I thought it was that thing in the back that looked like a bird 😂
You have a fabulous and amazing yard! Thank you for sharing!
Perfect timing for me, just got two barefoot roses and trying to decide on ground or potted. I'm going potted after watching this and I'll follow your guidance. Hope Mine do as well as yours!🥀🌷🥀
Good morning from Delaware.🦋🥀🌞

Thank you so much for your support!
@@GardeningwithCreekside You're very welcome❤
I love your gardens soo much 😍🙌💚✨
Can't wait to see the blooms on your new potted roses.
Can you please do a video when you stake your rose standard. I have a D.A. Rose standard that I have to re-stake and I'm nervous about disturbing the roots. :)
Good video ❤
There gonna be beautiful exciting
I just love your dog🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love these videos. Thank you 😊
Awesome info! I have never planted roses. I’ve been meaning to. But haven’t had the cash. But I will.
Thanks for the information and demonstration can't wait to get mine going. Can you please give information on the birdhouse again? Thanks
Great lesson
Hi Jenny. What are the yellow flowers and yellow Bush behind you at 5:54?
Love your videos! You do things right. One thing I didn't hear mentioned was drainage holes. Are there drainage holes at the bottom of your planters? I understand good drainage is of upmost importance with roses.
Beautiful 🥰😍😍😍🥰 flowers
Every time your Bruna alarm goes off on video it sets off my three GSD alarms 😂
Oh bless it! Sorry about that 😂
I just checked DA and Elizabeth is out of stock but Nye is available just waiting game so I can both at same time.
Thanks for doing this video. ❤❤
Thanks Jenny. 🌷💚🙃
I love your videos, from the inspiration, the reality comments, sharing your favorite plants and introducing us to new varieties and products. What is the asymmetrical evergreen near the Elizabeth rose container, about 6 feet tall?
Thanks Jenny...my David Austins haven't been doing too well in the ground or containers...
I'm getting ready to pot up 5 proven winners roses, I really need to know the recipe for the potting mix, please, I just can't seem to hear what you put in after the pine bark in the bottom.
Love roses
We came back from Florida and found a bird’s nest in one of my flower pots. checking on the nest yesterday a bird flew out and I could see a just hatched egg. I don’t want to disturb her, so won’t be checking often. It is on my front porch.
Wrens nest in our large containers every year. We don't mind as we think they probably eat any little bugs that might be trying to feed on our roses.😊
I just planted the bare root Scepter’d Isle rose about a week ago. I promptly forgot about it and mowed over it! 😢 I just have a little stump now 😩 hopefully it will grow back 🙏🏻

Bought my first roses for my tiny yard and I’m terrified! But you only live once right?? Thank you for the wonderful planting lesson.

Jenny I always love watching your videos, so interesting and informative. I Do have a question, what brand compost do you use and also does the color stay dark when you leave it on top of the soil?
So did you have the irrigation emitter under the rose/ground?? What is the reason that it isn’t on top of the soil?

What was the depth of the crown of Elizabeth when you had her all planted?
Can you please tell me what you use to combat black spot? Neem disfigures the new growth on my roses.:(
My husband bought me an Emily Brontë for Christmas and it came quite early in Feb. I followed all the instructions on the website but sadly it just slowly declined and everything browned up. What do you use to kill weeds and grass in your flower beds...i cant get down and hand pull any longer
Just a quick question. Why didn’t you use land and sea compost? Thanks
Were your Elizabeth’s healthy? Mine arrived with crown gall.
Annuals can suffocate your beautiful rose, if you plant them in the same pot. I personally grow roses in containers for many years, and the rule is one container one rose. que transformação mais linda ♥
My perennial hibiscus isn't doing anything yet. I'm in zone 8. Do you think it's a goner? My peony has one bud.
Jenny, could you please tell me the approximate width/depth of those 2 containers? I have 1 Rose in a container about 18" diameter and 22" deep. Wondering if I need to up the depth.

Why did you switch from top dressing your pots with mulch to top dressing with compost?
You mentioned Itoh peonies not being up yet. I planted an Itoh peony in the fall (Cora Louise) and nothing is happening with it. There is a little stump that looks dead and no new growth coming up. I'm in New England zone 6. What do you think? Is it dead? Or maybe it just needs longer?
Whats the name of the yellow plant? I'll try and find if its available in the philippines
What is the drip water system you are using or recommend?
My eachanacia is blooming already.
So when planting a rose, that big ball or nub needs to be completely covered?
According to David Austin yes
