I'm rebuilding two of these where the bottom jamb/gland nut came off inside the cylinder. If the right torque is used in reassembly will that prevent that in the future or can I use some blue loc-tite? Also do you know if theres anywhere that sells just that gland nut? My threads are F-ed
I was able to contact Woods who owns rights to Dual now. They sent me an owner's manual for mine that has all the assembly steps and torque specs listed.
Thanks for the video. I have a Du-Al loader with weak PTO driven pump. Any suggestions to replace that PTO pump and is there a Video showing what I am up against to connect to the tubes?
You might have some luck looking on www.tractorpartsasap.com they might not have it on their website, but if you call and talk to someone, they might have a pump. They part out a lot of older junk tractors with and without loaders. I know I have gotten a cylinder for my du-al from them.
I honestly don't. I run my loader off the tractor hydraulics. But if you tell them you have an old du-al loader, they might know what you need. They are pretty good.
Question about the v-ring . The three orings you mention on the second cylinder ( 2 hard and 1 soft ) , Is that what makes up the rod packing assembly ( item 3 on the parts listing ) sliding on right after the seal retainer ( item 2 ) ? I think this what you are saying , just want to make sure . I am working on my loader now . Did you hone cylinders ? Any leaks ? Thanks
I think those 3 make up the packing assembly. I did not hone my cylinders, and I have one side leaking. The first side (first cylinder) I rebuilt wrong. I didn’t use all 3 v-rings on the end gland. I am no expert with the cylinders, but I couldn’t find a video to help me out, so I decided to make one. I believe this is the only video for du-al cylinders.
Thanks for responding. I'll make sure to put them together . So far not apart . I am having a tool made to take out the lower gland nut . I couldn't find one that would fit a recessed gland nut . I called Woods ( the owners of Duall now ) and they said to have one made , they didn't provide or know of a tool that would work . If anyone else has used a known store bought tool please respond . Thanks Ty for making the video . It's been alot of help . Dave
Ty , I got my seal kit today and did an inventory . There is a 3 inch fat and 3 inch thin . Looks like you use 1 with one left over . Which did you use ? Did you have one left over ?
I used clear package tape for both external and internal threads . Worked well . I had trouble with the painters tape . The package tape came off easier . Don't know why the big fat 3 inch oring is in the kit . I do not see that it fits any where . I got several 12 inch 17104 Vermont wood boring extensions . I connected them to my hone and was able to hone both lift and bucket cylinder housings . Hope this is helpful . Ty did a great video that really helped me . I also found a wrench for these . 24-1001 DuAl wrench . Discontinued , but found one on eBay . Worked great .

@@tysprojects2571 Any idea of the GPM and PSI for this old dinosaur?

I did have one left over... i want to say it was the fat one. I think the thin one is used to seal up around the outer gland maybe?

Where does that big o ring go?
I don't think I used the big fat o ring. it might be for a different application.
