They started as a rock band, there's footage of some of their earliest gigs, most of the songs from ther debut album like Bedshaped, She Has No Time, This Is the Last Time and it's bsides used to sound like this. There's other unreleased rare songs out there like Maps and Emily, they sound like something Radiohead would've done in the early 90's.
