That's precisely why in practically every practice there are multiple practicioners who are able to perform a certain type of procedure,and thus one of them will be available to do any urgently needed procedures that pop up in the event that the other is out of town or sick or whatever. And in this particular instance, whoever advised this woman to wait for such a long period of time on "her" surgeon to return rather than urging her to seek treatment with a different provider ASAP could very likely be sued for negligence/malpractice.
Yeah, this is where the British healthcare system blows (yes I am British), basically until it became an emergency it was simply a high risk situation, meaning an emergency surgeon couldn’t be assigned through the NHS because they’re already booked up for the foreseeable future, when it became an emergency OP’s sister likely took the place of someone with a less urgent surgery, someone else who was also high risk but hadn’t progressed to emergency care If they wanted a new surgeon immediately they’d have had to go to a private doctor, but then they’d be on the hook for the medical bills unless the sister just happened to have third party insurance either privately or through her work, as none is ever mentioned we can presume this isn’t the case

It's not crazy that he started talking to his dad because he just wanted his father's approval but it was his fault that he was influenced by his father, for his father's love or not, it was not ok how he treated everyone but he made a mistake and they all cut him out because he wanted a father in his life, again he shouldn't have listened to his father but he wanted a father figure and his mother didn't have anyone to fill that hole in his heart so he filled that hole with a toxic person that he just wanted love from but it seems like he's coming to his senses now that he saw his father's true colors and beat the shit out of him, so hopefully he's changing back to his old self, the person everyone liked. And I hope they can forgive him because as his friend Z said, he used to be a good person but he was treated how he treated everyone else but they could at least have hope for him to get better but they just cut him off ENTIRELY, and I'm not saying that she should take him back but at least forgive him (when he's back to his sense's of course) but I wasn't there so maybe there's some withheld information on why they cut him off.
