Spent 36 Years working for Rolls Royce Military Engine Division in Bristol UK, many of those years working in the Research and Development side which involved a lot of ground running testing the Pegasus engine in Test Cells. Since the UK government decided to scrap these wonderful machines they have been missed at the International Air Tattoo held at Fairford, the worlds biggest air show held every year over 3 days in July. The Harrier display and the Red Arrows immaculate formation display were always the highlight of the show. The most vivid harrier display was of 2 harriers in hover mode doing and aerial ballet, manoeuvring in perfect harmony. When the announcer mentions the next display was going to be the Harrier, all the crowd flock to as near the flight line as they could get, many not realising that the harrier engine in hover mode was at full power and was very very noisy. Keep up the good work of keeping this proven war bird flying.
I almost got to learn how to fly in high school and then 911 happened and they cancelled the program...there were only 3 students who made the cut and I was one fo them..but then couldnt becaue of terrorists
Art you know your ever going to grow old leading the SUPER,grow old leading the retirement you've choose to lead in your so called retirement. really enjoyed watching your super video. GOD BLESS you and all your family and loved ones.
Thanks Art, What is just as enthralling as the plane itself is the nature of the "Team". There's inspiration here that relates to any endeavor that requires a higher level of focus, commitment and finesse. Thank you for that.
If that is not a testament to the human spirit for adventure and hardwork, dedication and perseverance i don't know what is. Well done crew! My only regret is not seeing you fly at an airshow.
My Dad was an engineer and worked on the hydraulic and fuel systems for the Harrier. . The company had a private cinema. The staff were brought in one day to see a film. It was of a Harrier, then called the P1127 doing a test hover whilst tethered. they were amongst the first to seeit fly. This was about, I think 1959.
I'd propably spent evrything on Subway, KFC, McDonald's and a little bit on restoring my Renault Kangoo. After consideration I'd buy new Kangoo 4x4 and make it great again.
Semper Fi, Sir. You make the Marine Corps look great. I have watched Harriers take off, land for years and years. I was more of a ground pounder. But I was stationed at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI (7th Comm Bn) and MCAS Cherry Point, NC. (3rd LAAM Bn). Keep on flying. As a civilian I am now a pilot and own an aircraft, but nothing like that.
Thank you for the commitment to excel with this Harrier. My Dad was a radioman on a B-17 Joker squadron over Germany,Poland, France and Russia. After the war he would visit his plane at the Arizona WW2 Aircraft Museum
I love your enthusiasm for aircrafts man! I have been a crew chief on C-17s for 10 years now, and an instructor for many aircraft maintenance courses. I'd love to be apart of a team like this when I get out of the USAF next year.
1976 at 29 palms I was a a grunt 0311 . I saw my 1st fly by of a sea Harrier fly by below our our post. That jet came hauling ass down the canyon and few out of sight. Then it retuned and was about 200 feet above us, then he put on the breaks and came to a hover.. dipped his nose did a 360 and took off like a bullet.... so impressive. The next day we were taken to a demo of Naval air support that the 0311 had available to them.. I can only say the HJJ. Stole the show....
I appreciate people that have different talents of whom can do things I can not do. Love air planes but would never be a pilot. Great team and love the videos.
This guy is Crazy in a Dreaming way. never Wake up Art, Enjoy your Flights, Hope to see that Harrier in person some day. Before knowing about the Harrier, my Brothers would smash my jet because I wouldn't run my toy Jet to the end of our runway we made out of wood. I said to them, Well some day there will be a jet that can takeoff like a Helicopter. Of course this was the 70s and the Harrier came out in the 60s. But When I first saw one fly in person, My Jaw dropped to the ground, My older Brothers couldn't believe it as well. Haha. My Dream of just someday, came true that day. I know how you feel about your Dream Come true. keep up the cool Videos, stay Safe to enjoy for may more years to come.
Man he made his dream come true.God bless you.(^^) I have same dream as you but I want to own a flanker.Watching this I can think passion drive you to reach out to yours dreams.Am gonna save money for my Dreams.Tx man
I'd like to buy one. Will $250 cover it? Just kidding. Dude you're awesome. I believe I've seen you fly over Burtonsville Maryland escorting a WW-II bomber and p-51 mustang.
Samuel HerMan I think you are talking about Brent heisey, who owns miss america, a p51 d model, an L 39 trainer jet, a b25 Mitchell, and he used to have a yak 3
Art, Jose here, I don’t know if you’ve ever had a question like mine before. Minus the cost and (military use)of this epic jump jet, would it be possible to modify the Harrier into a private family/company style aircraft, up to 5 people or less???
I will be attending the next co airshow not for the blue eaglea but for this if its not here i will travel ive seen ospreys ive even seen a harrier type jet taking off from lockhead while working near there but never have i seen a demonstration of what they can actualy do i never would have thought arrp would be interesting enough to take this mutch of my time i love this old not so salty marine coming from a devil dog family this is realy cool... edit i give mad props to the young dude out there doing beyond spectacular things with his life
I seen the Thunderbirds at a air show in Fairfield Ca back in 1990s and talked to a TB pilot and told him I wanted to fly someday , he looked at me very serious thinking ooook 10-4, but sadly I just fly drones.
What's your next jet you like to own, if i had the experience mine would be between two. P-38 or the A-10. Im enjoying your videos. I served in the Coast Guard search and rescue jumping out of HH-52 in alaska and Ft. Lauderdale. Safe flying and God bless
I freakin wish if only we hadn't scrapped them all to prevent... who was it again? one of the middle east nations we gave them to, decided we didn't want them getting parts for them anymore and smashed everything from planes to tooling to prevent illegal exports, very sad. Perhaps in the future 3d printers might be able to recreate them. Especially considering at this very moment a group is analyzing a b-1 lancer and a Blackhawk in the hopes of 3d printing parts in the future
Short answer: YES. Longer answer: we can't get the explosive cartridge that allows the 3400 PSI N2 to enter the #1 HYD SYS. So we have a 28 Volt rotary valve wired to the cartridge's firing switch .I used 2 steering diodes so either battery can deploy it. It is a very tight valve - it only loses 75 - 100 PSI during the year. We welded up an "AN" fitting, inserted it in the line and Rich drilled a small hole in it so that the landing gear didn't slam down. (Homemade reducer valve)
peter weiskopf Man stop spoofing with that dick shit, nitrogen stop valves are spunk useless you need double tap lithium valves to slow down the nitro burn at 400 psi.
Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine, I inspected every one of the stage 1, 2 and 3 stator vanes on the engines in 1993-96 I was the chief inspector for the factory where they were made in the Uk
Close Air Support (ground attack) is it’s primary mission. It can be armed with air to air missles as well. You wouldn’t think it would be good at that but it is incredibly manueverable. Probably not so much against an F22 or F35. Because of its VTOL capabilities, it can operate close to the battlefield without the need for a large runway. They train to operate off regular roads.
Duuuuuude you could just have bought the AV8 Premium in WarThunder and go in to Air Simulator Battle! You could be my Wingman, I need it for my F4E Bombing runs being chased by MIG21's!

Alex Paumen no I meant a reference to a GTA Online feature to call in an airplane.😂
Alex Lazaro You’re going to call Rolls Royce for that Pegasus engine?
LOL
Im one of the biggest jet nuts you'll ever meet but even I know that when you're hydra gets blown up you call pegasus or mors mutual LOL

@@mattstonks8497 you can buy a tank with a fully operational cannon

That’s a nice hydra
If you bought an F-18, you could blow the gear down with res APU pressure. Not an option for the Sea chicken?
I think those mechanics are the most cool persons in the universe

Wish I could afford a harrier ☹️. He’s living the dream. Couldn’t fly it in uk tho tbf. Can’t do nothing here
i live in PG county MD and ive always wondered what that jet sound i hear is
YOUR #1🔝🎓💓
I would like to say thankyou for keeping the RAF insignia, it's terribly upsetting for us brits to see political decisions get rid of our planes
It was a Royal Navy Plane as well as an RAF plane.
awesome !!!
What was wrong with the hydraulics?? Hose burst? Forgot to tighten a fitting? Pump failed?
Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine, I inspected every one of the stage 1, 2 and 3 stator vanes on the engines in 1993-96 I was the chief inspector for the factory where they were made in the Uk
If I were to own a flying Harrier, I'm not gonna use its VTOL capability. Only its STOL capability to be safe
How much does it cost iI NEED IT🛩🛩
Wish I could meet them and be on there team to fix stuff
What is the primary role of a harrier since it doesn't use afterburner engines
Close Air Support (ground attack) is it’s primary mission. It can be armed with air to air missles as well. You wouldn’t think it would be good at that but it is incredibly manueverable. Probably not so much against an F22 or F35. Because of its VTOL capabilities, it can operate close to the battlefield without the need for a large runway. They train to operate off regular roads.
The role is to be able to do what a normal fighter/attack plane does, while being able to VTOL/STOL.
The Sea Harrier was air defence for the fleet. Pure and simple. No Ground Attack role for this version.
Duuuuuude you could just have bought the AV8 Premium in WarThunder and go in to Air Simulator Battle!
You could be my Wingman, I need it for my F4E Bombing runs being chased by MIG21's!
What is the price,,I want to by one
to the kid that said other people are at home playing stupid video games...im out her cranking on this Harrier....Bravo to ya...
Thanks
All cool guys
Hi Aarp have you ever thought getting yourself an Electric Lightning
I realize the Harrier was the the first to vertical to t/o and land. Have you ever teamed up with an F-35 at a Show?
Did he fly a Grumman f-14 tomcat ?
Who drinks from a fire hydrant? 4:59
Surprised tech support didn't come with the purchase...
I worked on the American version of this aircraft, it has a nitrogen bottle to blow down the gear in this situation.
That the one that's up in the mains? It's been a while. I may be thinking of the accumulator.
