There's one key facet that contributed to the limited Ssi-Ruu forces and their quick route: Their religion states that any who die away from their homeworld are doomed to nothingness. This means that on a psychological level they can't take casualties without being instantly horrified at their impending fate, and is why they rely so heavily on droid and slave controls and send minimum fighting forces rather than risk a large contingent. With Luke carving through their ship and the defending forces inflicting their own damage the Ssi-Ruu suffered a loss of morale at a rate far higher than fleets would, which compounded their own inability to maintain an offensive.

This was my first Star Wars expanded universe novel, it was a stocking stuff for Christmas from my mother. I for one like that the battle involved so few ships, and focuses on the carrack , and the quasar class which are two of my favorite small cruisers.

Can we get a battle breakdown of the Battle for the Darksaber from the Darksaber crisis? Please and thank you.
You always deliver some of the best stuff and your new style of Battle Breakdowns is awesome and something I've always wanted to see. I absolutely love your new ending with the poor pup going crazy. Please add more ships to the into and the viewport. I would absolutely love some ships from old school stuff like the ship from the Last Star Fighter. Keep up the great work.

I agree, I did find this a fun read. At the time, thought it could be the basis of a decent movie.

You should creat a sub-series for this series. I think you should do something along the lines of “How I Would Have Taken Back Control Over the Galaxy if I Had The Empire Unser My Command” Or something like that. It wouldn’t be one episode of course. It might be 3 or 4 parts. Obviously it would be talking about the take over as a whole, not every single battle or skirmish.
    I don’t know, it’s just an idea.

It is really cool to see in many situations the opposite forces to cooperate ..it can be seen that they can maybe find a way of living together istead of fighting each other. like the time when german soldiers and american soldiers fought together at the itte casstle against nazi germany (sorry if its wrong the name)

This reminds me of the Battle of Castle Itter. On May 5, 1945, 5 days after Hitler's suicide and two days before the surrender of Nazi Germany, 13 Heer soldiers and a Waffen SS officer fought alongside 16 men of the US 12th Armored division and several French VIPs and 2 members of the Austrian Resistance against a 150-200 man force from the 17th Waffen SS Panzergrenadier division who had been terrorizing the town of Worgl and were attempting to kill the POWs.

I always like the battle at bakura because it wasn't a giant space battle like endor, or corasant, it was just a defensive fleet and some help fighting what seemed like overwhelming odds, and winning through a combination of skill, tactics, and the right people at the right place, reminds me of what players in a RPG could do, to help in a battle.

  • @scottperry7311

I remember reading this book many years ago. There is something you did not mention if my memory serves me correctly. That the life force was used to power technology including the drones and it was still sentient. Luke was going to be used to calm the people that were to be drained to calm the energy and make it more controllable, they already had a force sensitive assistant doing this but her power was limited. It was the ability of Luke to connect with the spirit or life force of these victims that eventually gave him an advantage in fighting the invaders on the ship.

I wonder what Admiral Ackbar’s reaction to receiving this distress call was. Remember, just days before this battle, he came dangerously close to having his entire fleet wiped out by Imperial forces. He probably thought that the distress call from the Imperial Bakura defense force may have been another trap. If that was the case, I wouldn’t blame him for being reluctant to take immediate action. I would be reluctant too.
