First saw them in 2009. They.have kept a relentless pace of touring over the years, they must be one of the touringest bands in Japan, which is saying a lot. One of my favorite gigs of theirs is the special they do annually in late December with Takayoshi Ohmura of Babymetal's Kami Band. I didn't see last month's, but have seen several others live. Hearing Ohmura and Tomo-zo go at it is a treat.
@@TheRobsam Hear you. Another of the birthday shows I missed was the 2017 edition-that was the last public appearance of Ohmura's Kami Bandmate Mikio Fujioka. Some of that is on GS's y t I think. For all the touring they do in Japan they don't get overseas as often as some of the other Japanese bands, which is a shame because, as you say, they are so good live. Last year Angie got quite a few bookings on variety and talk shows in Japan. She's probably the best known of the all-female band vocalists to the Japanese general public, though not (yet) as recognizable as the J-Pop stars.

Gotta admit, I expected a lower rating because the song is a more standard one, but I'm with you on this: out of the more typical (simpler, fun, upbeat) GS songs, this is easily one of my favorites. Especially this performance because it shows them doing what they do best: Everything at once! I think my favorite bit is Oreo leaning over her keyboard like a drunken sailor towards the end. Okay, I'm gonna watch your Reverse Psychology reaction now. For contrast...
I can't imagine Oreo just standing there with her arms crossed doing nothing. The only time I could see her crossing her arms is if she tried playing the keys with her nose. Or maybe if the men in white with the butterfly nets put her in a straitjacket. 🤪

And honestly I don't think anyone would consider it cheating to have the band members names noted down if it helps. Its not like this is your first time reacting to the band...
So does a song not need to "blow your mind" to get a top score now? Not that I'm complaining but as you said this is very typical of them (I think the stage energy is the higher end of their range) but I'm not sure there was anything in your review that pushed this from 4 to 5, or is it the case that what would have been a high 8 could now be a 5? Just seeking to understand better the new system! Thanks.
In Hibiya in Nov, they did an acoustic segment during the show in the middle of the crowd. And Tomo took lead vocals for one song.
