    For me the iPad is the ultimate standalone music device. It has a speaker, a battery included and a hell of a powerful processor (not to mention an endless list of awesome synths and apps dedicated for music creation)

    Would love to see more ipad stuff on this channel. It's affordable enough for a lot of people and the apps are getting better all the time.

    I just assumed you had an I pad and preferred to make hardware videos. The I pad is hands down the best mobile music production/maker/controller/etc. I’m sure you will take the plunge it only makes sense and I’m looking forward to seeing some future videos covering apps. It complements hardware samplers nicely.

    It’s pretty crazy how many people have first-impression videos of Koala, Flip, and the Ableton app, but nobody wants to compare them. Makes me think Koala is still the only legit one and people don’t wanna say it because they only want to say good things about Ableton and Andrew Huang. The Koala reviews sure are more enthusiastic, though. And I’m pretty sure Koala is the only one that can sync through a 3.5mm jack without going through a USB MIDI interface. Koala on an iPod Touch is even more adorable than a PO-33! But you can get all 3 of the apps for the price of a case for a pocket operator so I guess I’m not gonna worry about making an irresponsible purchase. 😂

    Drifting more and more over to the computer. :). Which they are all computers. Just the UI is different. The value you can get from an iPad is amazing. Every person who likes music should own one for what you can achieve in such a small convenient package.

    An Ipad can compliment a groovebox set up nicely as a sound module. Cubasis and Korg Gadget have very good MIDI host (clock sending) implementation. Others work better as slaves. I have my iPad connected to the MC707 quite a lot, though I haven't been writing a lot of music lately.

    you choose the wrong app to test the power of ios music production, you need to try many of the powerful auv3 instruments, processors and fx plugins, which you can used them with any auv3 compatible powerful daw apps on ios,
    but if you just wanted to start with one first to just test the power of ios for music production, you should of got a least beatmaker 3 which it is perfect for what you was trying to do with the flip sampler, even Koala sampler is 100 times better, plus its also an auv3 plugin which you can use inside beatmaker 3, which is not the case with the flip sampler !

    Interesting about the latency. I use an old iPad Air 2 and a 6th generation iPad with other music apps (Geoshred, for example), and the response is much closer to real time as compared to what you're seeing, both through the headphone jack and when using an audio interface (MOTO M4).
    In reading through the review/comments on the App Store, there are a number of people experiencing a variety of quirks and bugs, though most seem to be getting on with it ok, and I didn't notice anyone mentioning latency as an issue (I didn't read all the reviews). So ... while I'm curious, I'm probably not going to spend $10 to find out whether or not it works better on my iPads than it does on the one you're using. For me, making music on an iPad is mostly for goofing around or for sketching out ideas -- at present. That is, of course, subject to change, as I recently tried my Launchpad Pro with some iPad apps and had a blast. Maybe I'll have a closer look when the Audiofuse 4 finally becomes readily available.

  • @jonbirchartist

    You shouldn't really be having any trouble with latency. Maybe it's the OS, maybe an older iPad, I don't know, but I never have lag even with the heaviest processing. iPad music making is fun.

    You’re getting that latency with straight audio out, and not through an interface? I’ve definitely struggled a bit with latency, but I had chalked it up to zoom H6 performance on iOS. Definitely NOT an experienced drummer though.

    Isn’t this too limited with each drum sound taking a track? You’d have 5 tracks only for a drum, then 4 left for other stuff only. This should have had bounce function.

  • @radu3g
    @radu3g 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some apps have buffer size adjustment in settings. It should reduce latency, if the hardware can handle it.
    I'm curious what your conclusion is about IOS music making.

    Need your advice. I accidentally deleted a crucial sample in the "stock" sound and there is no UNDO, do you know how to get the stock sounds back without Delete+Reload? If I delete the app and reinstall, I will lose my work, and it has happened already; it hurt. Thanks for your help.

    • @BeatGoblin

      I haven't used the app a ton since the video, but maybe see if you can export the project itself somehow? Or at the very least, export the stems.

    • @walnawk
      @walnawk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeatGoblin I wrote to the developer, under "OPTION", then "RESTORE"; all the deleted "STOCK" sound will be restored. Exporting the stem is my next question, how do we even export work to Ableton 🙂

      @DizzyMakavelli 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeatGoblin I look for your videos using Electribe to make beats on Groove rider due to the similarities of the workflow, you will not regret it.
      It's like Electribe 2 Sampler plus the synth one, you even have an option to make it sound 32 and not 44 (sample rate).
      It gets less clean unlike other apps and softwares.
      It's a good buy.
