Once I made it to the end, this was my choice without hesitation... And here's why: Darrow had good intentions and he had good points about how dangerous augs could be, but in order to do that he had to actually be the catalyst, kill and cripple thousands of people just to make a point, I couldn't side with someone behind such actions Taggart had a more balanced idea... Regulating augs to prevent things from getting out of hand, but to do that... He ended up creating a culture of discrimination against augmented people, and even a terrorist group that would kill people just for supporting augs, that's something I can't support either, not when it involves such nasty actions Sarif at the end of the day was genuenely looking to give people the chance to become better, for those with augs to not suffer rejection syndrome again, for anyone to be able to become augmented and achieve what their own limitations couldn't do, sure it's also open to some abuse, but in a world where everyone can become augmented, there was always the chance that people would want to balance it, prevent it from getting out of hand and without the need to spill any blood
Good Argument, but a Cripple is different from being born a Cripple... Augmentation should be taken to a Limit... but Humanity doesn't know when to stop, so we will Live in that Reality once... and make the same mistakes so that we can learn our lesson... Humanity is Stubbern, we can only learn from mistakes.
Sir Tobias I know I am reviving an old comment, but still. Why should there be a limit to augmentation? We can become truly great, if there is nothing to deter us
Karl Meisner The sad thing is, no matter what we add to our physical bodies, we're still human. With drives that are not always altruistic. While I applaud the Sarif ending I also understand human nature. When he had the opportunity he took away more of Adam's flesh and made him machine. Why did he not give Adam that choice? Because he had power and opportunity. I despise Taggart, but he's also right. Power without control, without direction leads to chaos and destruction. The one ending I've never chosen in the game was the suicide one. I can't see Adam killing everyone in Pancheae. And I think he would know that as a human, being what he'd been through, he'd have a better vantage point in which to make and informed decision about to tell the world.
NorthForkFisherman We will always be human yes, but we don't always have to be illogical. If machines can be entirely logical due to their immense intelligence, why not humans? It is true that power without control leads to chaos, although why should Sarif dictate augmentation? In the ending Adam mentions the singularity, the thought of machines becoming intelligent enough to improve upon themselves. The way I see it, augmentation is merely a stepping stone on the road to a fully robotic humanity. And robots are logical, more so than Sarif, because in the end, he is still only human
Karl Meisner Ah, but isn't our irrationality, our mortality part and parcel of what makes us human? If we forgo that, we won't be human any more. We'll be something else. I think that it's our strivings and failings that make us the best of what we are. We need to be fallible, because if we are no longer able to fall, how will we know the joy of being able to rise again? Maybe when we do give birth to AI we'll need to make it able to fall, give it something to overcome. It's just my thoughts on the whole thing.
I agree, as the David Sarif ending makes the most sense chronologically. The Hugh Darrow ending is the "good" ending, because you reveal the truth. The Bill Taggart ending seems like the most logically backwards ending, due to the fact it benefits the Illuminati, and goes against everything you've stood for in the game. I'm still kinda unsure about the Self-Destruct ending though.
Kyris Xian'drii I agree. I also agree with @Dolan Cleary's "the David Sarif ending makes the most sense chronologically." In Deus Ex: Invisible War, I chose the Singularity ending, capping the trilogy nicely.
+Dolan Cleary I almost sided with Taggert, and I say that as a strong humanist and transhumanist. I do think that whatever regulations would be put in place would be too restrictive, but he's right on one thing. Absolute freedom is indistinguishable from absolute chaos. Society does need regulation and boundaries, and those boundaries need to be enforced. As much as I disagree with many of the forms that control has taken, won't there always be a 'ruling elite' of some kind? Even if we were to get all idealistic and rise up and destroy the Illuminati, wouldn't something else bubble up to the top and take it's place? I just don't think control and regulation and a ruling elite class are things we can ever really break free from, and I'm not even sure we should try to, at least not in this age. We do need limits and order, in some form. Still, I side with Sarif at the end of the day. We can wax philosophical all day about the need for control in society, but we're still going to steal fire from the Gods one day.
@@SabbyNeko The problem is, with THIS Illuminati, they messed up. They showed their hand, got too involved, got too exposed, and openly hurt people as a result. Sure, there will always be another to pop up, but maybe this one ran its course. It proved too ruthless, too reckless with its people, that, realistically, a fresh start where something better rises from the ashes and mistakes of this one, to a better regulator. That maybe, just maybe, they won't have to hurt as many people, be a little more humane in their future endeavors, otherwise, just like the last one, someone will rise against it and take it down at a critical moment in history, or maybe just vastly disrupt it.
This ending reflects entirely my thoughts on the future of the human race. I acknowledge that many will suffer at the expense of technological progress, but I just cannot deny the potential that we have. Genetic modification and biotechology offer us a possibility never thought possible. Immortality. With such capability, where does it end? With infinite time and space, will we finally unlock the secrets of the universe? The nature of reality? Answers of which I would sacrifice so much to learn, only solidifying me as human. What a fucking crazy thing it is to be alive, especially right now. Science will either be the end or the beginning of something we cannot even begin to imagine.
This was very well said. You’re right that we as humanity always strive to be better, to ease our daily lives so that we live comfortably and chase our higher dreams. But then again precautions have to be taken to prevent the misuse and that’s why I’m conflicted between Sarif’s and Darrow’s ending.
soyentific nonsense, augmentations of any kind will force us into a situation where we have to use them or we fall behind the competition. There will be no free will of any kind and will lose our humanity
@@SilchiiWell Darrow's ending, as stated by the AI, would hinder scientific progress. The AI said that his message would cause humanity to abandon science. So Darrow's ending seems to be the worst if you support scientific progress. Even the Illuminati ending is better, because progress is restricted but at least it exists.
We as a species have gotten to the top of the food chain because of our ingenuity. With trial and error, tools and cleverness, we essentially have tamed and/or classified most of the other species on our planet. We got this far because of our tools to give us the edge against flora, fauna, and mother nature in general. We strive to master our surroundings. As the video said, we were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. The infrastructure, the network of communication, our cities, our means of transportation and manufacturing... A mere hundred years ago, people couldn't have fathomed what we have today, and who knows what we could achieve in the next hundred years. This is the most human ending when you put thought to it. We will always strive, but we can't strive without our tools. And yes, there will be casualties. But that's how we got to where we are today. Trial and error. Trial and error to see what we could eat and what was poisonous from the edible objects around us. Just the most basic of gathering so our ancestors could partially fill their bellies. Trial and error to figure out how our ancestors could survive another day against animals who were better killing machines. No. It's who we are. To deny it is inhuman.
*SPOILERS* Beleive it or not, Deus Ex Human Revolution's ending tells us what we really think about mankind's nature. Whichever ending we choose, reflects us who we think about mankind. Choosing Darrow's Ending depicts that we dont think mankind will ever change, Sarif's Ending Gives mankind a chance. Self Destruct ending Makes the world continue as it's still going. As far as i think, Self Destruct and Sarif's ending are'nt much different. All ending's are very appealing. Its a nice game with good message. Well done Eidos.
My understanding of Sarif's ending was that it would make Neuropozyne obsolete by making Jensen's augmentation mutation available to everyone, ending the crippling dependency on the drug.
This game make us think "What means to be human? can that meaning change with time and industry development?" that's what makes this game become more than a simple game. It transforms it into art.
"To turn away from it now - to stop pursuing a future which technology and biology combine, leading to the promise of Singularity - would mean to deny the very essence of who we are."
As much as I love this ending, and want this ending to be canonical, the dialog from the Easter Egg suggests that Adam's ending is considered the "true" ending in the eyes of the developers. This one shall have to remain the true ending in our hearts. Our hyper-efficient, precisely engineered cybernetic hearts.
This is not just an ending. This is our future. This is what humanity was meant for. I fully and wholly agree with everything said in this video. Who in their right mind would say "no" to human controlled evolution? It is the future- where I can feel better, jog faster, think better, become smarter... that is the future. I wish this would happen in my lifetime- but as of now it feels like an empty hole in my heart that will never be filled. Sorry to say this, but... thumbs up if you agree.
Sarif was in my opinion well written. Sure he may not be the most honest man, but there is no doubt he has the best of intentions. He truly believes what he does is the best for mankind. But this alone isn't what makes Sarif well written, but rather the contrast between his intentions and his unwillingness to listen to any other viewpoint. He will not understand why someone rejects his ideas, why someone opposes what he views as "progress". His good intentions combined with his narrow-mindedness make him a deeper character.
Sarif reminds me quite a bit of the Illusive Man in Mass Effect 2, both may have shady ways of going about things, but they have the best intentions in their hearts that's why both of them are incredibly likeable characters they feel real
This is ultimately my favorite ending as scientific progress will always advance Humanity even if it is not always used for the benefit of mankind and it is preferable to banning it or letting the Illuminati control it.
And there are indeed problems. Like Adam said, the road will be bumpy. As more progress is done, more problems are created. But that doesn’t mean we can’t fix or overcome those problems.
This is definitely my favorite ending and the one I agree with the most. I'm torn between this one and the Self Destruction ending. I fully believe humanity should have the right to strive for it's own potential. But I also believe that nobody should decide that future for us.
+shrillpsicho I thought about that as well, but Self Destruct just comes across as cowardly to me. The Jeanie is out of the bottle. Change is happening and nothing can be done to stop it, only shape it. Standing aside and 'letting the world choose for itself' is just a noble sounding way of backing down from something with big and scary implications. Granted, I don't think you or I (or many for that matter) have the maturity, wisdom and foresight to make a good call on something this big, but I at least would admit that and step down with honesty, rather than pretend your doing something noble, like a father figure for mankind.
Exactly, Darrow committed a sort of genocide and tries to justify it because he can't use augmentations. He's just an angry child, envious, spiteful, bitter, full of hate.
My ending. Technological evolution is humanity's timeline. It's what defines modern society and separates it from the old. It's our past, our reality, and our future. :)
@Froggy22651 I feel the same way. If more people would drop their fear and ignorance of progress they would see technology isn't evil, it's just the humans who use them.
@psychshift The day humanity realises that all we need is rationalism, intelligence and technology, we will enter a golden age. This, is what the ending represents.
Theoretically mankind could wipe out such things as disease, crime, poverty, class and religious warfare, bigotry, and possibly even death itself with the advent of technology?
This is why I love Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Because Adam Jensen and Madoka are just...so similar. Both have immense power, immense responsibility, have faced many past sorrows and grief and in this ending Adam, like Madoka, mentioned that he himself rejected temptation to abuse this power to take shortcuts. He has responsibility, so does Madoka. My fave anime of 2012, and my one of my fave game of 2011 till now. What more could I argue about?
My first bit of exposure to this game was the image of the fetus, and the last image I saw was the very same thing. Intended or not it was a wonderful, almost touching, piece of closure for the saga.
This is not just an ending. This is our future. This is what humanity was meant for. I fully and wholly agree with everything said in this video. Who in their right mind would say "no" to human controlled evolution? It is the future- where I can feel better, jog faster, think better, become smarter... that is the future. 1:25. 1:25 is EXACTLY how i feel. This is human nature. and this is our next step in evolution. If we weren't meant to do this, then we would never of thought of it.
It is a concern that destructive outcomes may arise. I chose this ending only because it promises unrestricted technological progress. I thought the Illuminati idea of controlling augmentations was preferable to free use. But the Illuminati seemed malevolent and wanted to restrict progress, controlling humanity for their own benefit rather than a brighter future.
I was amazed how incredibly difficult was the final decision. As in a real life we never see the outcomes of the other (not selected) paths so i decided to see only this one. And it was really beautiful. Currently i'm studying medicine and hopefuly will find employment in the field of regenerative medicine or, if technology and my skill are good enough, augmentation. I would love to help in this fire theft.
if the technology was available I don't see what's wrong with it, I mean advancing through innovation is one of the most intrinsic human qualities there is
@harrychang6213 Sarif wants to help humanity. Also, once augmentation tech is improved, people will benefit from it, and Adam's DNA is the key to allowing people to perfectly bond with augmentation without needing to take medicine. People who lose limbs or are born without them will be on the level with everyone else, we can overcome sickness, we won't be able to oppress or hurt others for being "weaker", and, if we play our cards right, augmentation could help us not waste resources, ect.
I thought this was probably the most inspiring ending of the game. I find with all three of Deus Ex games endings there's usually at least two convincing endings and one or two really stupid/backward ones. The Illuminati usually have a point, but they're solution is usually only a quick fix and won't solve anything on the long run. In the end, the only way to create change for the better is to pick the road of progress. That's why I picked the Sarif ending for this game and the Helios ending for the first two. The way to push the ball forward is to change the playing field and create a new game entirely. Augmentation and human evolution is the only way to do that.
@Nyibelunger Personally, I don't feel very morally conflicted by Deus Ex. Sarif's ending is more or less the way I feel about things. Granted, I don't think we need to ENTIRELY give up regulation. It's just common sense that military augments are regulated and that there needs to be more oversight on things (as in the case of the biochip scheme in the game). Personally, I hope to steal fire on the nanotech/material science front of things.
This is why I personally like Sarif ending. Because it just is. Not only is it our future, it is also what Madoka herself achieved. If a normal human that's been chosen to be a Magical Girl, has such unbelievable will to do the Ultimate Sacrifice instead of abusing it. What have we got to lose? It's us, NOT techs, that needs to improve. Every master has its weapons, and how the weapons function depends upon its master.
This is without a doubt the best ending. Technology has served but one master ourselves despite the horrors that come with it granted to certain more nefarious agents we stride amongst the truth of human nature to become what we sought to be the best of what our species has to offer. I welcome a future in which fear and regret cease to exist and we seek to become true masters of our own domain
I love how this game has no good or bad endings. All of them play towards one goal with good and bad sides to it, though I think it´s good Adam only states the good sides of them all.
@DvineGaming Ironically, that baby creeped me out when I saw it; apart from that, I love this ending. What people need to realize is that it is NOT technology that is responsible for humanity's suffering; it is our own flaws (greed, intolerance, ect). Mankind has been fighting and killing each other since we arrived on this planet, from sticks and stones, to bows and arrows, to biological warfare, long before advanced tech came onto the scene.
@KyleAlex92 That's why Taggart fears augmentation, but this ending allows anyone to receive augmentations because they don't need neryopozine anymore. You might argue that people can pay for augs to get ahead of other people, but aren't they already ahead if they have more money?
@DvineGaming Shows like Star Trek prove that we can exist peacefully with advanced technology; it can save and improve countless lives. We need to improve our own flaws, not abandon progress. Progress is never easy, but we are better off now than we were hundreds of years ago because of it. Augmentation does not necessarily mean losing our humanity, Adam himself says it is our ability to overcome adversity that makes us human; it is not necessarily measured in pure flesh.
@DonSnowblood Try Ico and possibly shadow of the collosus. You have to look for it, but the same degree of art is present in them as in the three you mention (I assume, I've only played Enslaved and Deus Ex).
@harrychang6213 I don't think Adam necessarily means abandoning our morals; he even suggests Sarif's path could "allow us to hold on to higher values with more stability". "No doubt the road will be bumpy, hurting some people along the way" could also mean that progress, no matter how we go about it, almost always hurts someone. Think about it; when we test things like a new medicine, there is always a risk that someone could die or have some other adverse effects, for example.
@greyfox129 The cannon ending is probably the self-destruct or darrow ending. Don't you remember how mechanical augs were looked down upon in the first deus ex?
@AScann3rDarkly In summary, most of the important groundwork for the history of Deus Ex 1 are not really changed by Jensen's actions. Bigotry against "hanzers" is likely to remain regardless of what ending occurs. It doesn't matter whether or not Sarif wins a temporal political victory that allows him to do the work or not, since there's always the possibility of his work being outsourced to countries like China or secret Illuminati labs.
@stathamajf Twist it all you like, because that still wouldn't change the fact that augmentation is like extreme plastic sugery. It forces its image on people and they feel they will lose in the competition in life if they don't get better and more expensive augmentation.
Although its true that, augmentation will enhance to more than what we have, but we cannot forget the fact that death is inevitable no matter what, if an aug dies, its not a robot which malfunctioned, its a human that dies. CANT WAIT FOR DEUS EX: MANKIND !
But the rich poor gap doesn't matter if the base quality of life is always rising. Not many people can afford a rolls Royce today but most people today can afford cars that are vastly superior to even the highest quality luxury cars of the 1970s. As long as the technology keeps getting better it doesn't matter if the gap widens because the average quality of life will go up anyways because price performance keeps getting better.
@thenicholashuber Because they were creations of Versalife using alien DNA and human genomes, with the backing of the Majestic 12, which doesn't exist yet as of Human Revolution; MJ12 will be formed sometime during the 25 years between HR and the original. That, and I imagine genetic engineering still isn't as advanced as it was in the original, since cybernetic augmentations are still the top of the line augmentations, compared to the nano-augmentations in the original.
I believe this is the cannon ending. I know in the post credits Bob said if there were usable tech in the wreckage. But remember he never said pancheae he could be referring when Jensen told the three scientist to blow up there research labs. and there was alot of tech built there as well.
@crimsonflare506 Yeah, that was kinda confusing. There isn't any real mention of him being present there, and once he calls over the intercom there's a good chance you've already passed the elevator that takes you down to him.
@plyinglemon You're contradicting yourself. And in any case, all the endings don't really change any of Deus Ex 1's groundwork. And aside from that, nothing much is said about what actually happens. Eliza just mentions one or two significant consequences per ending, but they don't ultimately effect the course of history all that much.
Transhumanism is the ideal that humanity will be able to finally be able to move past its physical limits and rise to something greater. I believe that humanity has that choice of pursuing something better than being hindered by their limitations.
@cubefreak123 As I said, Panchaea destroyed is the only one that fits canon, it destroys the major players that would otherwise mess up the flow of events that led to Deus Ex, while also preparing the background and leaving Page free to continue to control the population for another few decades. I consider the three character-named, spun endings to be alternate continuity, each one showcasing the ideals and wishes of the one it's named for. Panchaea-boom is just a canon tie in.
@KyleAlex92 That would be the Bill Taggart ending, this is the ending where Corporations are given free reign, this is my argument. "In the past, we had to compensate, to find quick solutions that only benefit a few... but what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again?" "No doubt the road to get there will be bumpy, but won't achieving the dream be worth it? We can become the gods we've always been striving to be..." People will always argue, do not let them stop Salvation.
@JMDub89 If that's the case, why did they put in the line "didn't I resist the urge to abuse powers and resources simply to reach my goals more swiftly" (0:48-0:54)? Yet suddenly he believes achieving the dreams worth it. I really don't see how it let's people hold on to higher values with more stability, especially when the benefits are gained by corporations that belongs to a rich man like Sarif himself, and all the harm and disadvantages may come to a normal person like you and me.
@AScann3rDarkly You're kinda missing what I'm getting at. Eliza always weasels about the consequences of Jensen's actions by saying that a consequence *MAY* happen. Just because it's possible for men like Sarif to develop augmentation technology doesn't mean it doesn't remain controversial. Likewise, the Illuminati and Page aren't going to be utterly demolished by a scandal surrounding Darrow. If anything, it may even help make Taggart's case that augmentation needs regulation.
@harrychang6213 Yes you did say just that, you just avoid saying it outright. Asking for consent is one thing, going along with it when a patient refuses to be saved is quite another. Also, once again, Adam did give consent, he signed the form and worked for a augmentations company with apparent approval for their products.
@dhx84 That's what makes me think the Darrow ending is cannon, as bob page does in fact take over and by the time of Deus Ex mechanical augmentation is viewed very unfavorably.
@copersonfilms Not if you knew the plots of the games it's a prequel too. In that case it stops being a twist, and throws itself back on course for the nastiness that occured in those games.
I don't know what ending is the best, they all have some many valid points! But I think that I'm leaning towards Taggard's ending. But what I don't understand is the whole Adam's DNA thing, is that the only reason Megan wanted him to assume Head of Security of Sarif Industries or did she really have feelings for him even though she was completely determined with her research. I wish the ending would of contained follow ups on the main characters.
@MultiBOZA The upcoming DLC is canon and features Adam again. He lives, and the self destruct ending is NOT canon. Any of the other 3 could be canon however, and likely no matter what Adam tells humanity, it does whatever it wants.
@harrychang6213 And if you do it the other way round he gets upset and angry over that too, the first level is a no win, no matter what you do, someone gets mad at you. No, Jana tells you she lost to guys with augs when she had none at all, also considering how much of the cost is in the neuroprozene, it's made clear that removing that will drastically scale back costs and let everyone have them.
@AtheronWolfang If this game will be succesfull (and i think it already is) There will be a direct sequal to human revolution starring adam jensen. The developers stated that themself.
Once I made it to the end, this was my choice without hesitation... And here's why:
Darrow had good intentions and he had good points about how dangerous augs could be, but in order to do that he had to actually be the catalyst, kill and cripple thousands of people just to make a point, I couldn't side with someone behind such actions
Taggart had a more balanced idea... Regulating augs to prevent things from getting out of hand, but to do that... He ended up creating a culture of discrimination against augmented people, and even a terrorist group that would kill people just for supporting augs, that's something I can't support either, not when it involves such nasty actions
Sarif at the end of the day was genuenely looking to give people the chance to become better, for those with augs to not suffer rejection syndrome again, for anyone to be able to become augmented and achieve what their own limitations couldn't do, sure it's also open to some abuse, but in a world where everyone can become augmented, there was always the chance that people would want to balance it, prevent it from getting out of hand and without the need to spill any blood
It's just my thoughts on the whole thing.
i think this is the best ending, and the ending which best reflects how humans are in real life
I agree, as the David Sarif ending makes the most sense chronologically.
I agree. I always pick this ending. The Prometheus Ending.
Science will either be the end or the beginning of something we cannot even begin to imagine.
matt sundell We think alike!
"free will" has never truly existed, as we are all a process of our biology. If anything technology could give us a a freer will than ever.
"No doubt road to get there will be bumpy, hurting some people along the way...
_...but won't achieving the dream be worth it?"_
*SPOILERS*
Beleive it or not, Deus Ex Human Revolution's ending tells us what we really think about mankind's nature.
Well, i didn't went deep into it, Just gave a pretty overall idea.
Actually i chose Darrow's ending because I think humanity can only progress when everyone knows the truth and is free to make their own choices
"We can finally become the gods we've always been striving to be.
We might as well get good at it.'
My favorite ending. I support transhumanism from the bottom of my heart.
This game make us think "What means to be human? can that meaning change with time and industry development?" that's what makes this game become more than a simple game.
It transforms it into art.
wooo, that gives me goosebumps just listening to it. Such a great game
***** “We might as well get good at it” ;)
"To turn away from it now - to stop pursuing a future which technology and biology combine, leading to the promise of Singularity - would mean to deny the very essence of who we are."
David Sarif is my friend.
I love how each of the endings has valuable arguments.
The best ending
The foetus at the end... It gives me goosebumps- goosebumps of fascination.
The baby at the end.....JC Denton is born
All these questions and all these choices will be presented to all of us very soon. And we too will have to choose. I hope we choose correctly
Indeed such times are near.....
This is ultimately my favorite ending as scientific progress will always advance Humanity even if it is not always used for the benefit of mankind and it is preferable to banning it or letting the Illuminati control it.
Cyberpunk 2077 is basically what happens if you pick this ending
In my opinion the best ending, it has hope and determination for the future. To keep achieving.
Lines up really well with the Helios ending from the original
Exactly, Darrow committed a sort of genocide and tries to justify it because he can't use augmentations.
He's just an angry child, envious, spiteful, bitter, full of hate.
One of the best endings ever.
@psychshift
The day humanity realises that all we need is rationalism, intelligence and technology, we will enter a golden age.
Of course i sided with Sarif. For all of David Sarif's faults he was the only one actually trying to help humanity!
Do you agree?

Atheistic naturalist religion, Aue

point_right Aue is a naturalist religion with faith, doctrine, and practise. It asks for faith in society, and that the practice of evaluating joy & woe in society is beneficial. It considers us as a modern species dependant on one another.
scales A joy/woe dichotomy is the lens used to guide adherents. Aue strives for the peace and community of religion without supernatural dogma. It should be a concise base which, after deliberation, is timeless and agreeable. It should help to ground an adherent in naturalism and understand themselves and their relationship with others.
aue It is authored by Patrick Bowen since Sept 2020, and is still open doctrine subject to minor change.
Transhumanism is a philosophy and a worldview which advocates for the ethical use of technology and evidence-based science to improve the human condition and alleviate suffering.
-Natasha Vita More.
“Transhumanism” is the idea that humans should transcend their current natural state and limitations through the use of technology - that we should embrace self-directed human evolution.

1:25. 1:25 is EXACTLY how i feel. This is human nature. and this is our next step in evolution. If we weren't meant to do this, then we would never of thought of it.
This really is the best ending. Give the power to the people and hope that humanity doesn't destroy itself along the line...
THEY CANNOT STOP THE FUTURE
if the technology was available I don't see what's wrong with it, I mean advancing through innovation is one of the most intrinsic human qualities there is
so, in sum...
FUCK YEAH BE AWESOME!
"leading to the promise of a singularity..."
Helios! :D
*squee*
@harrychang6213
Sarif wants to help humanity.
Best ending Imo and one that I hope will come true eventually.
This is the ending i agree the most with, it's true.
@Nyibelunger
Personally, I don't feel very morally conflicted by Deus Ex.
I chose this ending as my first, and I still would stick to it after watching the others.
Wow I was shit faced when I posted this :P
+Jared Lancaster ?
KANO FOCA whats with the question mark?
Jared Lancaster
"i was shit faced"?
This was my favorite ending.
The only true ending of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
I love how this game has no good or bad endings. All of them play towards one goal with good and bad sides to it, though I think it´s good Adam only states the good sides of them all.
I hope this is the cannon ending. I really want more Deus Ex following this route.
My only hope is that I can live long enough to see this vision of the future come true.
@DvineGaming
Ironically, that baby creeped me out when I saw it; apart from that, I love this ending.
@KyleAlex92
That's why Taggart fears augmentation, but this ending allows anyone to receive augmentations because they don't need neryopozine anymore. You might argue that people can pay for augs to get ahead of other people, but aren't they already ahead if they have more money?
The most inspiring ending
best ending to the best game of this year.
@DvineGaming
Shows like Star Trek prove that we can exist peacefully with advanced technology; it can save and improve countless lives.
Singularity is inevitable
@harrychang6213
I don't think Adam necessarily means abandoning our morals; he even suggests Sarif's path could "allow us to hold on to higher values with more stability". "No doubt the road will be bumpy, hurting some people along the way" could also mean that progress, no matter how we go about it, almost always hurts someone. Think about it; when we test things like a new medicine, there is always a risk that someone could die or have some other adverse effects, for example.
@greyfox129
The cannon ending is probably the self-destruct or darrow ending. Don't you remember how mechanical augs were looked down upon in the first deus ex?
The time of flesh will end people ! Get ready for immortality !
@AScann3rDarkly
In summary, most of the important groundwork for the history of Deus Ex 1 are not really changed by Jensen's actions. Bigotry against "hanzers" is likely to remain regardless of what ending occurs. It doesn't matter whether or not Sarif wins a temporal political victory that allows him to do the work or not, since there's always the possibility of his work being outsourced to countries like China or secret Illuminati labs.
Sometimes the truth isn't good enough. Sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.
@Peltak Maybe it's some kind of hybrid nano-mech-aug fetus, and those augs in question contain nanomachines.
I don't really see what's wrong with improving kids in the womb so they're born healthier, smarter, stronger, faster, longer lived.
@Erdross The upcoming ending takes place during Deus Ex : Human Revolution, not after it.
As far as I'm aware this is the only ending. All the other endings were weak and/or stupid.
One of the best games I have played in a long time. I only paid 2 bucks for it, steam sales are awesome.
@crimsonflare506 Yeah, that was kinda confusing. There isn't any real mention of him being present there, and once he calls over the intercom there's a good chance you've already passed the elevator that takes you down to him.
@plyinglemon
You're contradicting yourself.
And in any case, all the endings don't really change any of Deus Ex 1's groundwork. And aside from that, nothing much is said about what actually happens. Eliza just mentions one or two significant consequences per ending, but they don't ultimately effect the course of history all that much.
You just now realise who the embryo at the end is. [Well, 1 of 2 possibilities..]
Oh my God, J.C., a baby!
Commissar-Captain Foxy Baby is bomb, comrade
@TheForestInYou
they all use very similar arguments, but as eliza expains it, they just spin it in a way that benefits different motives
That why checks & balances are needed, institutions which actively watch each other and are dissuaded from colluding.
Same here. I was on the start screen thinking for 2 and a half hours.....and then I picked this ending.
@AScann3rDarkly
You're kinda missing what I'm getting at.
See the last part of this ending and the old 2007 teaser!
I chose this ending because I believe in this message and future 100%.
This was the one I chose.
@dhx84
That's what makes me think the Darrow ending is cannon, as bob page does in fact take over and by the time of Deus Ex mechanical augmentation is viewed very unfavorably.
@MultiBOZA
The upcoming DLC is canon and features Adam again.
@PeanutButterGoodness I think that line might change with how you acted in your playthrough.
@stathamajf You wrote it yourself, they get another work around, which means you CAN refuse one way of treatment.
@AtheronWolfang If this game will be succesfull (and i think it already is) There will be a direct sequal to human revolution starring adam jensen. The developers stated that themself.
