    Very informative, thanks for making this video. Ignore the negative comments as they don't contribute anything useful.

    I paid 22k for my 2013 platinum with a 110k on it over a year ago. Of course prices have come down so i cant trade it in for something with lower miles. It looks like i am going to drive the doors off this one. I am getting a few rust bubbles just above the chrome trim on the rockers.

    Nice work sir. I’ve got the same truck - looks like the same color too. Tuxedo Black Metallic paint code UH. I also live in New England so I feel your pain (Maine). Undercoating is key - I did mine with Blaster Surface Shield, seems to last longer than Fluid Flim. Repair Geek on TH-cam has some great undercoating content if you want to check it out. Hardly any rest with the original rockers.

    I've done plenty of rockers and cab corners. Did pretty good job for not doing it professionally. I would use fiberglass over the weld imperfections over bondo just for the fact fillers are porous like a sponge. Just FYI! Damn good job though!

      Thanks I think it came out nice. I took it to a body shop for the finish work and paint. It looks like a new truck now.

    I just got an F-150 with the same problem. I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to make it look decent and remain functional. I don't have a welder or angle grinder - so I can tack that on to the project cost using this method. A lot to think about!

      Use 3m panel bonding adhesive and buy a ton of clamps to hold it in place you will need a belt sander and a grinder for sure but no need to weld I have a supercrew and did not weld anything just used panel bond it will hold just fine as long as proper steps are taken

    So what repair did you do to the rusted Reinforcement Panel (the one in between the inner rocker and the outer rocker you see)?

    • @RCBGarage
      @RCBGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I consulted a body shop and they said the inner panel isn’t structural and I didn’t need to replace. I cut out the rust to clean metal

    Thank you for making this video! I have a 2014 regular cab Tremor that has the same interior as yours. I'm getting geared up to tackle this project on mine. Where did you source your rocker panels from?

    • @QuaabQueb
      @QuaabQueb 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I got mine from Browns of Two Rivers (cooltruckparts), they are the only ones who had all 3 pieces.
      These rockers panels are put together as a 3 piece sandwich. I wanted all the rust cut out completely.
      If you don't cut it out, it will come back eventually, no mater what you treat or paint it with.

    Ok man, we get it . Your truck gives you a hard on. A. full video of the results of every step without any demo of how to do it. Worth 10 minutes at double speed, but barely

    Squirt some used oil inside those rockers a couple of times a year and they'll never rust again. There are plenty of access holes. I have a 2013 with 115k on it and I live in rust country. Mine is tip top.

    What type of welder do you have? Fluxcore or gas?

    • @RCBGarage
      @RCBGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      My welder is both flux and gas. I weld with gas on sheet metal it’s much cleaner of a weld. You can use flux it just looks terrible. To save money try Flux, practice on some scrap metal until you get good enough to tackle your truck. Oh and buy an angle grinder and a lot of sanding wheels.

    i just bought this same truck today and it’s just as bad as yours i was wondering since you live in MA do you know any good guy that can fix that for me the rest of the body is in perfect shape except that area is really bad

    • @RCBGarage

      Most shops won’t touch rust repair. 1) The rust always comes back 2) The repairs are so expensive it doesn’t make sense on a 12 year old truck. I would attempt to fix it yourself.

    I watched this video because a friend of mine sent it to me. I’ve replaced dozens of these rockers, so he thought he was being funny. Nobody cares about how great your 12 year old truck is. You talk about too much work to replace the whole rocker, what you did is double the work. lol Also learn the English language if your going to make instructional videos.
