I’m very hippie-goth. I wear a dark aesthetic but I wear nature inspired makeup and jewelry. I wear lots of bracelets, necklaces and have a relaxed and undone vibe but I “luxe” fabrics like secondhand velvet and lace. My apartment is decorated similarly with celestial motifs like suns and moons, stained glass lamps and candle holders, juxtaposed with more lace and velvet and gothic/Victorian vampire vibes. I really like cotton, rayon, silk, suede and leather. Velvet can be stretch velvet (poly and elastane) or a mix of rayon and silk. I love tarot and I’m a pagan, so those vibes are there as well in my clothing/jewelry and my home. My favorite colors are purple, black and green. More jewel tones than muted earth tones.
Oh and rings! I love rings and I wear a lot of crystals that kind of help me through the day- like if i’m going somewhere new and I’m nervous I wear amethyst and onyx or tourmaline. I love to collect them and change them out when I feel called.
Ouhhhhh, I love how in reading this I got such a good image of your vibes in my mind! Love that you shared your apartment decor too! Your vibes are immaculate my friend🙏thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your video. Being an older Hippie from the '60's & '70's I do see some similarities in clothing styles of today. In my day we wore flowy skirts, elephant bells (bellbottom jeans), peasant blouses, no bra with see through crochet tops (lol), as well as, tie dyed velvet hot pants and fringe vest with knee high leather boots worn with a vintage fur coat from the 1930's or 1940;s. I also wore a suede leather fringe bikini at the beach. Leather mini skirts were popular too. We shopped at vintage stores and leather clothing shops for the most part. We "painted" small flowers on our face, usually close to the eye area and wore "Love Beads" and Macrame choker necklaces for jewelry. "Jesus" sandals were popular, as well as platform shoes. Hair was generally dried naturally and we wore flowered headbands and floppy hats. The leather bags we had looked the same as the ones in your video. We also carried fringe suede leather bags. That's all I can think of right now. Did anyone else live in San Francisco (we called it Frisco back then)? I lived a block from the "Height" (Height-Ashbury) for a while. It was a trip! Those were the best days, loved it!!
Aweeeee oh my gosh, these nostalgic comments about the 60s-70s vibes are seriously my favourite to read. Thank you so so much for taking the time to bring me back with you😊❤️❤️
Loved this! I just finished Daisy Jones & the 6 and watched the Woodstock '69 documentary so I'm really into 70s Boho & Hippie vibes right now. If you wanted to make an outfits video for this aesthetic I'd love that!
Back in the day (1969-70's), at first bellbottoms were loud colors (red, white, blue or flowers or paisley, anything bright really), then it was denim bellbottoms, not with holes because we patched them. Sometimes we patched them with other material or cool patches we bought at the store. We wore halter tops in the summer. They tied behind the neck and in the middle or lower back. Oh, and hippies weren't dirty. Especially us girls. After showering in the summer, we loved to comb lemon juice through our hair and let it dry in the sun, get a little tan. You def are a hippie at heart. Were your parents considered hippies or grandma, grandpa?
You might have just written my favourite comment ever. Reading this just brought me into my dream alternate reality. You've got a way with words! Thank you so much for sharing, this made my day :)) Take care Terrie, see you soon!
I remember using lemon juice! Then Sun-In came out and turned everyone's hair orange..LOL Can you believe they still make that stuff? The 70s were so much fun! I was just a kid (born in 1967) but I have nothing but great memories.
I am a hippie and I wear a lot of darker colours aswell as lighter and bright colours. I also don't wear solely natural fabrics. Hippies were well known for wearing whatever they felt like fit their mood and modern day hippies are no exception.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to dress more of how my spirit aligned. But I really wasn't sure where to start because all the places I shop don't supply the smaller in hippie aesthetic.
Yay, I'm so glad it was helpful! It's good to know what kind of pieces to look for since some stores that aren't really totally your vibe can still have the odd thing that'll suit what you want :) thanks for the comment!
Love this! I remember being a teen and getting a handmade boho fabric bag from a festival in Seattle … think of the made-in-Nepal hippie bags - and I knew that I had found my niche. 💞
I agree with your list of modern day hippie. I also think dressing like a hippie. Is truly knowing your own style. You don't really follow trends. You know what works or doesn't work for you.
Would love to see a hippie lookbook! I'm more of a femme tomboy hippie with a dash of granola :) but still incorporate a lot of the elements you mentioned in my outfits. Love all your videos especially your fashion ones!
Hippie lookbook added to the list of things to make ;) I find so many of the things I mentioned are so versatile so it's always cool to see what kind of styles the people watching the video actually wear. And thank you for the sweet words my friend!! Take care :)
I'm a modern day hippie and I wear my hair in dreadlocks with colorful beads at the ends. Long hair and dreads are also a typically hippie-vibe, at l east in my opinion.
I kind of have a hippie/boho/goblincore aesthetic...mostly wear different shades of green, darker colours, long skirts, bell bottoms, very few accessories except the flowers and butterfly pins in my hair...I like to go for the natural look with no makeup, but I'm about to get tattoos on my wrists so a little contradictory 😂 I like to go barefoot, I love anything with mushroom print and I love crocheted bras, oversized t - shirts (especially tye - dye!l) and one of those long sleeved blouses (like bell bottoms but for shirts lol)... I also really like crystals and plants (even tho I'm not super educated about crystals) as well as tote bags, animals, music, the moon, romanticism literature, poetry...I just really love the hippie aesthetic, it's so fun to wear ❤ Also thank you for this video!
mine was always super straight until I got some layers in it! I guess the lighter weight gave my hair a little more volume. Might be worth a try for you too!!
I think using the word “aesthetic”needs to be thrown out. Actual hippies didn’t constantly dwell on their style. They just did what they did and looked the way they looked. Not so much a “try hard”

This is exactly me too. People say it's called dark boho or dark hippie chic.
@@Sweetinfernalcreaturealso my go to colors are earth tones mixed with black and grey.

Yes!! Crystals and stones are such good buddies to have with you, especially when you set intentions for them :))
