  • In this video I explain how to diagnose and fix a mini refrigerator that freezes everything (doesn't regulate temperature correctly). Instead of throwing it away, you can fix it in an hour for about $25.
    Here is the link to the part I used:
    Thermostat Control amzn.to/42GGQTD
    Using the above links does not change the price you pay for the item, but earns a small fee to help pay for my channel. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

      He didn't test the freezer though. Inquiring minds want to know.

    Thank you so much for this video, you certainly saved the day for me as a female.
    Have here a Haier 2.7 cubic feet mini fridge, the sensor wire with the little clip under the freezer came off a few days ago and I was at my wits end as to how to replace it properly.
    After having much ice buildup underneath the freezer pan I decided to let it thaw out for a cleaning. As the ice melted, the heavy L-shaped glob of ice forcefully fell, pulling the sensor wire and clip down. Seeing I had no knowledge about these things I went to Best Buy & PC Richards in my area to see any examples they may have of compact mini fridges to get an idea as to how the wire should be replaced, came back empty handed and resorted to TH-cam for help. Im very happy that I've found your video - problem solved, thank you and God bless you 💕.

      I just thawed out my own mini fridge and the same thing kinda happened to me! I ripped out a huge chunk of ice under the freezer compartment and the wire came off. Now I I just need to find out exactly where to place it back. 🤔🤔

    Thank you so much for this video. This was the exact same fridge I picked up at a yard sale and it had the same problem. Even after the cost of the part, it was still cheaper than buying it brand new this was such an easy fix.

    Thanks man! I had the same problem with it getting too cold and freezing drinks. My thermostat was exactly the same as the one you put in the Amazon link. After watching you video, taking the old one off was a breeze. Got the new one ordered and on the way. I've had this fridge for about 15 years and just don't want to give up on it yet.

    Great video and a useful tip about newer fridges not being as reliable as older fridges. I will now fix my 16 year old mini fridge instead of buying a new one - better to recycle where we can!

    I can’t thank you enough that was a super video. I have the exact same problem and I just thought well I’ll just TH-cam it and see and you answered my question and I’m gonna order one tonight. Thanks again. I really do appreciate it. Great work you’re doing.

    Mine wouldn’t turn on. You helped me figure out how to get to it. I removed the thermostat and took a short piece of wire and jumped across the circuit and it started running. I ordered a new thermostat so hopefully I get it soon and get it fixed. Thanks for the awesome video!

    Thank you so much for this video! I have the same fridge with same 'too cold' problem and it quit working this weekend. Compressor hot when i unplugged. I am also missing the little plastic piece wire holder on bottom of the freezer... can i just zip tie in some way?

    Now I'll see if I can also fix my "freezes everything" classroom mini fridge 😅

    After a few years in storage I plugged in a Magic Chef 7.1 (cubic feet) and the compressor goes on and heats up but the freezer and fridge never get cold. You're saying I should put the whole fridge on the curb? But it's the perfect size with auto defrost. They don't make them smaller with auto defrost anymore. Have I any options? Thank you.

    Hey, question. My mini fridge when plugged in will hum for about 5 seconds, and then stop humming. And this goes on an infinite cycle. Does this sound like a common issue ? I'm kinda new to this...

    Thanks so much for the informative video! We have an GE minifridge where the freezer doesn't stay frozen (it drips water). Even though the setting is set to "coldest." Do you know what the issue is for this? Thanks for your help, Vance!

      Its probably one of two things:
      1) The thermostat is malfunctioning, or
      2) The refrigerant level is low
      #1 can be fixed just like I did in the video, #2 can't be fixed and you should just throw it out.
      Its easy to test: Unplug the 2 wires from the thermostat and connect them to each other (do with power off of course). Then power it up and see if it freezes. If it freezes, then it was #1.

    I am similar fridge that my friend gave me and also causing the same issue. I order a new Thermostat replacement and should be coming in this week. Where he places the senor part at 9:48 I don't have that piece. Anybody has an idea what that part is called or can provide a link for it.

    So on the sensor wire I lost the plastic piece on the bottom that my fridge came with. Does it still run fine without it??

    • @VancesHowTo

      It shouldn't affect it at all. It should work fine.

    My fridge is missing the little plastic piece on the freezer compartment where the sensor is placed. Is there somewhere I can get that part?

    • @VancesHowTo
      @VancesHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet you cannot get that specific part. You can just use a zip tie instead, to hold the sensor in place.

    My thermostat to my fridge is not working. I removed the thermostat and it rattles when i shake it. You think i need a new thermostat ?

    • @VancesHowTo
      @VancesHowTo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try connecting the two thermostat wires together and see if the fridge starts working. If so, you need a new thermostat. Be careful; the wires are all at 120v.
