There is no difference between the men’s and women’s other than the color! And the size label, so whatever you are in women’s sizing minus one is what you are on the men’s. For example If you’re a women’s 8, you would buy a men’s 7.
So I purchased the women's and I am in love!! They are so much fun!! thanks so much for helping me learn!! Could not have done it without your guidance!!
The new Lightning skates are actually based off the RB line - Pro X, Cruiser, 110, etc which they're discontinuing in favor the Lightnings. One of the features is a wide boot which is important to me since I have very wide, short feet. I just got these Lightnings (in black/neon green) to replace my old Zetras and they're great!
So, sensible and sweet. I am not even interested in getting these, (love my Twister XT) yet I listened to you all the way through. If the frames are the same as the Twister XT, these are total no brainer for someone who needs new or more skates. I always change my frames around but these frames stayed on my Twisters (except that I painted them light coral) even though I tried a bunch Endless options and other quality frames on them. They are amazing to me, brought me back to 80mm wheels also, which was also something I abandoned early on in my skating, because I like a bit more speed a bit faster. Thank you for another great review Polly. ❤
My first pair of skates back in the early 90s were Rollerblade Lightnings. I loved them at the time (despite the fact that they were crazy uncomfortable - I had them packed with more moleskin then you can shake a stick at), but they were freaking Model-Ts compared to the new version.
I had the original model when they first came out, after all the pads and helmet it was around $500. Best trick skates the base was a bit shorter. It was the Lightening TRS
I'm new to inline sakting, but I used to ice skate when I was a kid. I bought soft boot skates before discovering your page but quickly returned them to get maxxum xt's from your reccomendation😁 the 90mm wheels will take some getting used to since I was learning on 76mm's but thankfully I have all your tutorials to teach me😅
I know that the video said that 80mm is great and feels smooth. But as a beginner was your experience with 76mm bad? do you think like it’s not great for someone who’s just starting? Because I want to begin skating and it’s a bit hard to find skates that aren’t quite expensive but are also good quality feel nice aren’t uncomfortable with a hard boot the right wheel softness and and a comfortable wheel size for a beginner. (Sorry for the extra stuff I wrote)
Amazing video! Thank you so much for such informative and upbeat content 💓you got me curious about rollerblading a few months ago when I found your channel and now in the process of finally getting my first pair of rollerblades 💝this pair sounds amazing! Thanks again and all the best 💗
Thank you so much for all this info! I’m so glad you mentioned these are wider than others, are there any brands or specific boots you would say are for wider feet and/or legs? I’m looking to get a pair and comfort is key!!
What is considered wide feet. Any measurements for reference. I find skates a little wider than i like. My widest part if my feet are 10cm. I may get a hard boot skates this year to help with the instability i feel.
I think it’s great that this is such a versatile skate, but I do have a question regarding the distance claim: how well will the wheels hold up over time? When I started to see an improvement in my endurance over 10 years ago, I was still using my old Rollerblade Evo 7s, which had either 80mm or 84mm wheels. They were not very durable. I would often go through two sets of wheels a year. The cost started to add up, and the only solution was to go with bigger wheels, hence why my next pair was the Tempest 100. The wheels on my current Macroblade 110 3WDs are still good, even after nearly two years of use and hundreds of miles.
Exactly what you said!!! 110 are totally going to last longer if your only doing distance skating and definitely a better choice, but for a beginner the 80s totally will work for learning I think is what I was trying to say. Thanks for adding this!!! Such a good point!!! 💯🙏🩵
@@PollySkates At the time I was using my Evo 7s, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to move up in wheel size. But it didn’t take long on them to find out that I was definitely ready.
Oh yeah!! If you can skate your ready. I just don’t recommend for super beginners learning to skate because they are hard to balance if you are brand new to skating.
@@PollySkates I’ve been saying the same thing, too, along with how different skates are designed for different skating disciplines. I was once asked if I ever took my Macroblades to the local skate park, only to have to break the news that they’re not designed for such use. But that’s part of what I love about inline skating. No matter what type of activity you’re into, there’s a skate for that.
@@FlashoftheBladesgreat point on longevity of the wheels. I've recently started skating bicycle trails and am planning on getting some 3wd frames for these Lightnings and go tri-wheel for the long distance outings.

Can you tell me about the size you have of this skates compared to Maxxum or Twister? I mean, are you using the same size of Maxxum/Twister or this new one is smaller/bigger? Thank you
I'm getting back into skating after 20+ years away. I tried a few soft boot K2 skates and they also had a bit longer frames and poorer rolling wheels so I didn't have to contend with as much speed and I felt like I had greater stopping power. I got the lightnings because after a few rides I felt the K2 were just not responsive enough. I didn't realize how much less effective my plow stop would be with faster wheels on a shorter frame and boots that didn't buckle. Suffice it to say the ground and I had a few painful encounters my first day out riding the lightning where I never actually fell on the K2s. My new skates are pretty scuffed up. Beware newbies and returning skaters, these may be beginner friendly but they are a little harder to stop on than some other skates and you should probably spend some time on FLAT ground getting used to them. I'll be taking my own advice for the next few excursions and I think my skating will benefit greatly after.
Great review Polly! I had to sell my hardly used twister XTs due to fit issues!😢 I really wanted them to work but after getting FR1's there was no coming back. I might consider these just for scoots and giggles since they seems to be wider.

Hey! I love these skates, and thinking of buying, but can you please tell me about Powerslide’s trinity mounting system? I was reading they provide more stability and a low center of gravity. How does the Lightning compare to, say, the Powerslide Next SL 80? Would really appreciate your input!!
Hi!!! The trinity mounting system is really nice!!! The only problem is it is only compatible with powerslide skates, so you have to stay brand loyal, so you don’t have as many options for changing frames. The powerslide next is more comparable to the twister. It actually has a super narrow boot and a lot more upgraded components than the lightning. I love the powerslide next and I think it’s also a great choice!! 🩵
@@PollySkates thank you! Would you say the trinity mounting system actually delivers a low center of gravity and improves stability and control like it claims? Hi Polly! Thank you for the awesome review video! I am a beginner and was looking at skates to buy and so far have narrowed down my choices to either the Rollerblade Lightnings, Rollerblade Pro X, or the Rollerblade RB Cruiser. I wasn't able to find a lot of detailed information about the differences between them like how they feel while skating, etc. Any recommendations on which to choose between these three for a beginner? I tend to buy shoes that are wider for the larger toe box if that helps.
How do u wear rollerblades w/out brakes out on streets w/out crashing or getting run over. this happened to me. i can run off on grass and dirt no prob but cities how?
If there is no grass amd I am practicing then I typically steer into something and squat to stop when I hit it. The squat is incase I fall, falls dont feel to bad when you are already near the ground. Just find a curb or a sign to steer into if you cant get the stopping motions down, wear protection aswell.
Hi Polly. I kind of like to through my skates on and go. How much control do I give up, by only lacing the hard boot, and relying on the straps for the top?
I think I answered my own question. Lacing to the bottom eyelet of the soft boot, seems to be a happy medium. The tie point is in between the two straps, so you’re not clamping over the knot. I do have to tie them, after I slip my foot in, but I suppose its good to pull them tight each time. It Really takes what an extra minute? It’s really not much of an inconvenience. Not regarding this your lessons have been invaluable. I love the lighting 80s. Night and day, coming off garage my sale bought 76’s, with worn out wheels. At least that impulse buy of those old skates, got me into this activity. I got these lightnings as an open box special for $169. Everything was perfect, and I didn’t even see any evidence of it being opened.
Hi, do you know if you can actually use all 3 frame mounting holes on the metal blocks on the bottom of the boot? I think only the middle hole has actual thread on it so the other 2 holes are maybe not even useable to put a frame bolt in?
I just got K2 Alexis 84 BOA skates to start learning on. I have a really high arch, is there a skate that supports high arches? I’m finding that the inside of my ankles and my arches hurt a bit after skating. I probably should have went with a hard boot but I got overwhelmed by the amount of choices.
Sometimes with high arches you might want to try your own foot insole designed for high arches to help. Unfortunately I’m not sure how the arch feels in the Alexis compared to other skates. I do like that skate though. The BOA is really cool
@@PollySkates to be fair, it’s been 25+ yrs since I’ve had skates on so some aches and pains are to be expected. I love the BOA system. Hi! so i am a pure beginner to roller blading and i have never done roller skating before and i dont want to😅 but i rlly wanna get a pair of roller blades. Are the SEBA E3 80 inline roller skates fine to buy given my situation😅?
Hey, Polly! Beginner here with a question. If the only reason i will use rollerblades is to commute around 5 miles everyday on normal asphalt, not perfect, but no holes dirt rocks either, would you suggest buying twisters xt or those lightning ones? I have tried both and they fit perfectly. Thank you for your time and amazing content.
I've recently bought my new skates, 85mm wheels and I'm feel like a total begginner, I can't even turn in them because the wheels want to go straight only lol. Previously I had 78 or 76, don't remember correctly, but skating in them seemed to be much easier and I could do much more things. I don't know what to do, should I return them and buy some smaller wheels or is it still doable to learn this whole cool stuff with them? Any advice please 😔😔
Honestly the lightning over the cruiser. I’m mind blown at the cost of the lightning tbh they are up to par with much higher priced skates. I do love the cruiser and the RB 80 tho.. but for the price. The lightnings are so great
Oh definitely does, both a good choice. The FRx has a super puffy liner so are going to feel tighter out of the box, but will break in. I would choose the lightning because it’s easier and quicker to put on and personally more comfy, but the good news is you can’t go wrong both really great choices!
@@PollySkates awesome. Thank you kindly for your response : ) yes these lightnings look just perfect. Im also now looking at the aeon 80. Which seems to marry the aggressive and urban skate. Wish there were skate shop stores in my area to go in see amd try all these things out : /
Hi! Polly would you recommend this skate for a intermediate advanced skate. Main reason im looking for comfort /or better fit. I own a pair of RB Cruiser 4X80 and Twister 3X110 which I had to drill out a the spot on inside ankle bones
Would you recommend these over K2s? I have the kinetic 80s as my first pair and they helped me fall in love with skating again but they hurt my feet so bad no matter what insoles I use. I also think I may have gotten a half size too big, as my feet are very narrow and I don’t feel like I’m in control like I should be. I only got them because they were the cheapest at my skate shop. I really want to upgrade but still not get a suuuppeerr expensive pair just yet
I'm in the same boat as you. I started with the Kinetic 80s a couple of months ago, but have decided to upgrade to the Lightning Boot as well (I went with 90s). I ordered 9.5 Mens in the Kinetic 80s but felt like they are about 1/2 to 3/4 inch to large. I went down to the 8.0/8.5 boot in the Lightning 90s instead of the 9.0/9.5 because I was spooked that it said 9.5. My foot length is right around 26.4cm and the Rollerblade recommendation was the 8.5. This was a mistake, the 8.0/8.5 is way too tight and forced me to curl my toes. I've already sent them back and reordered the 9.0/9.5. I'll let you know how they fit when the come in on Monday. During my short trial, I immediately felt the improvement in control even with simple things such as glides and power turns.
@@joshuadevera9861 awesome info, thank you! Yes, I would like to know how it works out for you and any tips you might have about the sizing. @@PollySkates to be fair, it’s been 25+ yrs since I’ve had skates on so some aches and pains are to be expected. I love the BOA system. I have been in an administrative position for well over a decade and my grip is weak due to carpal tunnel so I really like it. Thanks for the advice about insoles, I’ll try that out!
Do you think this could work for my 8 inch foot? And how can you tell if it’s a twister, maxxum, or a lightning?
Where do i buy it i live in london
My Rollerblade lightnings arrive today. I, also want a harder wheel. What do you recommend in Hydrogen wheels for asphalt use? Thanks Polly!
OMG YES!!!! Can’t wait for you!!!! What size wheel lightnings did you get?!
@@PollySkates Just the standard 80. But I was hoping you would recommend me replacement wheels that are the BEST for asphalt.
They are 165mm frame mount, 243mm is the wheelbase
🙏 thanks for correcting me! 😅
I see you have a pair of the Powerslide Zoom 80 skates. Do you recommend those for beginners as well?
Yes those are also a good choice 🩵
My current skates also have the cuff bolted on. I wouldn't mind normally, but I can't open it up to get rid of the squeeking noises T.T
Oooh I never thought of this as another reason you’d wanna take it off but so true 🫠
lubricate it, spray some wd40 or something
@@EKomoMaiCaretaking I can't believe I forgot those products existed xD Thank you! Definitely will try that
Hi! so i am a pure beginner to roller blading and i have never done roller skating before and i dont want to😅 but i rlly wanna get a pair of roller blades.
Hi! Either one! The twisters have upgraded components and if they are in your budget I’d go with the twistys 🤗❤️🙏
Im thinking between these and the cruiser. Which one is best for the $150-$200 price range in your opinion?
Honestly the lightning over the cruiser. I’m mind blown at the cost of the lightning tbh they are up to par with much higher priced skates. I do love the cruiser and the RB 80 tho.. but for the price. The lightnings are so great
@@PollySkates thank you for help :) I'm excited to try it 🙏
Thanks!
🙏🩵
Thanks! Do these compare to the FR Frx? Im considering between the lighting and frx for me a normal foot size.
Ah, the RB cruiser you had to drill too? The lightning feels the same as the cruiser boot to me
@@PollySkates yes I did it first on the RBs and I was really reluctant to get the twister. The lighting boot looks similar to the RBs
I’ve been trying to learn to power slide but my K2s just feel kinda floppy and roomy, no matter how much I tighten them. Honestly, I had no business at all getting them in a size 10 lol. No idea what I was thinking. Rookie mistake, I suppose. Thanks for the response!
@@MyHam-os4bq got the 9/9.5 yesterday and they are snug, but just need some proper adjustment with the straps. It required a little of tinkering to get the right fit. Overall happy though and you’ll find that the increased support makes balancing so much easier.
@@joshuadevera9861 that’s great to hear. This just might be my next pair. Thank you, have fun!
Can u please tell how to turn sharp in rolarsekte? Rollersekte
What skate would you recommend for narrow feet?

Rollerblade Lightningはとても興味がある製品です
💚
How can I find a correct skating boot how can I know that if the skating boots is plastic or hard
And how can I arrange the skating boot
What is your regular shoe size?
You should live stream while skating!
😅 not a bad idea!
thanks!
@@PollySkatesnot that it matters at all, but those lace up things aren't called eyelids. You're thinking of *eyelets, which are also known as grommets.
Is it good for big calves?
Hi Polly great review! Is it also good for narrow feet?
Also, have you tried the FRX? How does it compare! 😃
Hi! Yes I have narrow feet and they are comfy :) I have tried the FRX!!! I like these more because they are easier to put on 😁
Thank you for the reponse! Ordered mine and they are my very first skates. Can’t wait to try them! Been watching all your tutorials! 😃
I think the size 10’s are too small. After skating for 2 hours my toes really hurt. Wish they made them in 11, I’ll have to return them, but I do love them.
Is there a way you could do a slow motion skating part clip?
Like of the skating I used in this video?!
Very nice skating shoes polly❤
Thank you 🤗
How much does it cost, am a beginner I need to buy a good and conformable roller
$200 on amazon
Whats the price ??
They look so cool I'd love to buy one where did you buy them ? 😮
On amazon
Where can i get these??
thats white color is my favorite too.
So fresh 🩵
@@PollySkates May I know price of it?
Would it support 240lbs weight?
Id say probably, I myself have some way cheaper rollerblades I bought on amazon for like 95 and thos have held up to dailly use for a hour even now at 3 weeks. I have a soft boot so I imagine their hard boots are even better, Im not 240 but when I started my weight was 232 , now its 225
Does the fit run big or small?
Fits true to size but it’s a bigger fit than other Rollerblade boots
Can folks over 50 roller blade??
💯❣️
These are he ones I got! ❤
😃 how are you liking them?!
@PollySkates I love them!! The buckles are exactly what I wanted and I'm so happy that I learned how to properly adjust them from you 🙂
I learned these womens are from the same mens mold, so really they should be unisex. I like this color scheme waayyy more than the mens, i so i might get these possibly. I have wide feet so definitely a plus that they're a looser fit.
£180? No way I’m spending that. Hard enough trying to justify Oxelo MF500 at £90 considering I have a wife and 3 kids to kit as well.
wrist guards :-)
💯
Most rollerblade chics got that cake
Its a lot of leg strength
K2 has a new line. Looks like out of the same factory as these.
How cool! 😁
Can guys buy em?? 👀
YES!!!! Absolutely!! They actually have a “men’s” and a “womens” version
@@PollySkates alrighty ! Thanks
Its also 10x lighter than the Twister!!!
