    Very happy to see Sharp AQUOS back as a serious competitor. I found that in general the Sharp looks mor natural in most presets and was also generally the clearest picture. I suspect as it is compared with other high end mini led’s which lots of dimming zones and high peak brightness (nits) that there will be little difference between them in the quality of picture. The thing that at present I am most interested in is the sound. If the picture is on par with all the other high end flagships, how does AQUOS compare with their heavy build due to all the speakers and their positioning. After that - Its price. I can tall you that all of my Sharp AQUOS models in the past since 2002 and 2007 are all still in use and are all still producing great images so AQUOS is calling me even though my U6G Hisense is doing a fine job for my day to day needs.

    Thanks Brian for this amazing video. I will definitely be buying the sharp for my next tv in 65 inches. I just love the natural colors,brightness, black levels, details I feel like I can keep going on. PLUS the 85 watts speaker system it comes with is a nice bonus too.. Can’t wait to see you upload more vids of sharp against other brands. This years shoot out gonna be fun let’s go!! Be cool if sharp can win it this year. Maybe we can more companies like Panasonic to come back too the states if sharp wins or sales well.. I currently own lg c2 and the Hisense u8h two great tv from last year. Been waiting for more sharp XLED tv videos reviews to show up before I make the purchase so this definitely help me out…

    To all the commenters saying that the Sharp "Looks more Natural," it that because the colors have way less pop, vibrancy and saturation? Samsung is #1 because they give the masses what they want, and that's an image that stands out in color and brightness. Since neither tv has been calibrated, how do we know or assume that Sharp is closer to the Director's intent??? Not a Samsung defender, but they seem to take more criticism than just about any other manufacturer. Anyways, good to see Sharp back. I wish Panasonic would also return to the US market. We had a Pasasonic Plasma for 13 years with 0 issues. Awesome comparison as always, Brian.

      You mean the Sharp sometimes lacks saturation, so you deem pastel colours more natural. What about the parts where the Sharp looks more saturated. The patchy behaviour of the Sharp colour is a flaw compared to a reference TV such as the Samsung GN95C. Watch a video comparing three high end TV's, the Samsung GN95C, The LG G3 and the Sony A95L. You will see they all look similar. There are no wild swings toward under saturation or over saturation. The Sharp TV looks great in isolation, but the flaws are glaring when put up against a reference TV like we see here.

      Sharp best

  • @paulcox2447
    @paulcox2447 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The sharp looks much better. The colors are closer to correct, that's pretty obvious and the Samsung is off enough that it is significant. The samsung also crushes the image. Check out 11:49. You can't even see the plants on the ground. It also doesn't have as much detail nor is the motion as good. The samsung seems to have a significant issue with reds and greens. You don't get true to life tones out of them. The red and green is pushed hard, but it's the wrong shades, even in cinema. The harder green push being the wrong shade of green messes up a lot of the sky scenes in particular.
    On HDR OLED demo content the extra contrast of the Samsung is nice, but I don't think it's worth the general crush and the cartoonish colors. A lot of the things people usually attribute to Sony I think applies to sharp, even moreso based on this comparison. If the sharp had better local dimming it would be a truly top tier LCD. It seems to do everything else very well.

    • @loki76
      @loki76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The local dimming in this wasn't even shown. Also the TV had tons of glare from light hitting it making the blacks look washed out. In a light controlled room I bet the Sharp would look more black and consistent than the QN95C. Also it likely won't dim as much in darker HDR scenes with smaller highlights.
      I can definitely tell the Sharp has worse anti-glare handling though. More mirror like and also it tends to make the blacks lifted when light hitting it and seen from an angle.
      The colors are better on the Sharp as you said, because you can actually see the gradients and nuance. Samsung tend to just make all the green the same or same shade of green. It cannot put in the light brown and yellow into the dying grass, leaves. Nor the realistic green in the fur trees with the mountain shot from inside car with socks. It's all "vivid" and neon.
      The Sharp could hence look almost washed out because of the color push of the Samsung, But that is likely it being brighter at times and the reflections. Also the fact it seems to push for more natural accuracy. Like Sony.
      This needs to be done with a better side by side in a darker controlled room and more apples to apples settings. But I understand Brian how the settings are just wildly different.
      Standard vs Standard isn't even close. In fact Standard on Sharp looked more like FMM on Samsung. Kind of backwards.

    • @Alex-g2e3z

      Maybe it's a camera exposure issue, but video crushing seems to happen in the Samsung at 16:17.

    I think I prefer the Sharps colors overall. I feel like I see more shades of yellow and orange on the Sharp. The Samsung’s picture was way too green and didn’t show enough orange and yellow. I wish I could tell a difference regarding blooming…but I couldn’t. I really hope the Sharp handles gaming well. I would pick it over the Samsung based upon your video. Thanks Brian!

      Ha ha. I guess someone doesn't understand color gradients and brightness and how things also look being filmed on a single camera when white balance cannot be matched.
      Let me guess someone owns a Samsung.
      The QN95C looked like nothing but green tint and oversaturated colors without any form of color gradients. Also this was filmed with tons of reflections hitting the Sharp. Can see it hitting the screen a lot.
      Try it in a dark room and find the proper settings for the Sharp. Brian said he doesn't know the settings yet and there are a lot of different ones.

From a perspective that prefers realism and accuracy I am looking forward to the shootout where the TVs are calibrated and compared to a reference monitor. So, my first question is what TV looks more like the creator's intent material ? TBS I do see where people will differ on signature preferences. As far as zone counts Sony proves it's not always just about # of zones (85" Z9K Owner).

Man that is so far from the truth it's not funny. The reason why I started buying TCL was because of the good picture quality they offered for the money. They are definitely value for money tvs and have jumped leaps and bounds over the past few years with impressive tvs. But I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I just laughed it off. 75%of the time I preferred the Samsung, as it had the colours and contrast. Whereas , often the Sharp blacks were not deep or highly contrasted and sometimes the HDR looked flat as a result. The rest of the time though I liked the sharp, the way it presents white is much more natural and I appreciate the consistency in brightness.

    2:59 the Sharp has far better color gradients here. You can really see the different colors and tones in the landscape. The Samsung has way too bright green and it's also all just a variant of green. Where is the brown or different color tones. Maybe the camera has issues in these types of side by sides. Just like colors can look washed out on a brighter TV when it's not actually washed out.
    There are also a lot of "new" settings to learn with the Sharp to get it to look it's best for each modes etc.

    • @Nwordplzplz
      @Nwordplzplz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@demonreturns4336 I have zero insider knowledge. I'm just a customer so take this with a grain of salt. My running theory is Samsung is limiting the QN95C release so it won't cannibalize QN90C sales. I'd personally be OK with the QN90C if it had a VA panel, but I can't recommend it because it utilizes an ADS IPS type panel.
      I also think Samsung wanted to separate the models so people could feel like they're getting a true flagship model. I heard that the QN90B and QN95B were so similar when it came to terms of picture quality that it didn't make sense to get QN95B unless you wanted the additional speakers and One Connect Box.
      I believe Value Electronics, Wal-Mart, QVC, and possibly other retail locations carry the QN95C. I received mine through a Samsung warranty swap so I didn't get to see it until it arrived at my home.

    It's kind of crazy how different they are. I suspect it's the camera a bit and perhaps some settings. But it's almost like what happens when you put an OLED vs MiniLED side by side and the white balance gets out of whack. The tonality of each of these TVs are so different. 4:38 the white balance is pinkish all of sudden on the Sharp. I feel these TVs need to be filmed separately and then stitch together the images as side by side. This doesn't help either TV to show off it's best.
    All that said, it would really come down to preferences in what people would prefer how the content look like.
    I'd say the Sharp is more leaning into what Sony does. Shadow detail and perhaps more accuracy?

    • @stealthis
      @stealthis 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a common thing, digital cameras are too sensitive to white balance changes, they can't find a common "middle ground" like human eyes do, instead they adapt for one or the other.
      Stitching is a good idea but it may be an exact reel of the demo content and picture modes. An easier although much more expensive way, is to have two cameras recording at once, one for each TV or have them record both simultaneously and stitch them in post.

      The Sharp is very good but fell apart at the shootout. The firmware was different than the one you see in this video. I'd wait until the next model. I'll definitely be covering it.

      @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYyeah,I was also wondering if the camera may have been focusing on one tv than the other or the movie presets turn off extra processing. It felt a bit less apparent in standard mode but the Samsung still edged it which makes sense as they have been chasing Sony for a decade and maybe the closest to the leader in the sharpness (no pun intended) department.

  • @itsjusterthought7941
    @itsjusterthought7941 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok ...here's a comment to give you some money. I know it's hard evaluating products. On one hand you have to plug the TV brand who sent you the TV, while on the other hand you know which is the best as a reference. I'm watching this coming off the back of a video comparing the Samsung GN95C, the LG G3 and the Sony A95L They are all flagship models and they all look very similar. This tells me that what I am seeing is basically very close to the reference quality what we should be seeing.
    Then we come to this video stacking a Samsung GN95C (a reference TV) against a Sharp XLED. The problem here is that every time the Sharp looks similar to the Samsung, it is doing well, and where it differs, it is performing poorly. I know personal taste is an option because we are allowed to have bad taste. But you have to specify where the Sharp is deviating from standard. You can't say the Sharp has better blues or is sharper. Sharp being sharp is a marketing ploy. You have to specify that the artificial blue bump and added sharpening is deviating from the perfect image, and ask the viewers which they prefer. There will always be someone out there who likes over saturation like sugar, but for those with a refined taste, such comments are confusing if not deceiving.

    Ah , I see what everyone is talking about when they state Samsung over saturates with color…..
    @ 8:27 follow the yellow down the middle and pause at 8:30….the green on the Samsung overtaking the yellow.
    This tends to make or give the Sharp a washed out less color look in comparison but nothing could be further from the truth.

    • @abhs1141

      Reason why sharp corp Japan put Hisense under legal , because Hisense purposely produced a low quality tv and branded it as sharp . Sharp japan claimed that , it has tarnished sharp brand products as a whole . So sharp japan bought back sharp tv brand from Hisense .
