as a German, I really like hearing Americans(?) say something in German, their accent and pronunciation gives the language a sweet twist
TIL That it’s actually not German but Yiddish, this is why there’s this strange non-German pronounciation of schön
As an American who speaks fluent German it kills me to hear "schön" pronounced "Shane.

Probably because the original song was in Yiddish, which sounds somewhat like German
@@paveltsvetkov7948 Yes Yiddish even derived from German and it this song it sounds exactly like German. But the lyrics don't make that much sense. Basically I am not even that confused about the chrorus sounding German ... I am more surprised about the English verses XD
If you translate it from Yiddish, it is “Für mich bist du schön” (“For me you are beautiful”). But it actually sounds quite unusual for German speakers because of the similarity.

I always found it interesting that nowadays even Americans tend to use the German title of this song instead of the original yiddish one (Bei Mir Bistu Shein), which would fit perfectly to their American pronounciation. :-D
