    I just watched your review on the 10 watt laser from Ortur. My wife bought me one for Christmas. They left out a lot of information or just didn't have it. I use a cabinet I bought from Ortur, they never gave any thought to those that use one. That electronic device was a bugger to install. Unlike Ortur, I fashioned a bracket to attach mine. Same as the air line, by now you know you have to push down on that ring to lock in hose. Like you said, they cod have done a better job.
    My two cents anyway. I have learned a lot from you, thanks.

    Ordered this from AE about couple weeks ago. Paid just $170, saving about $120!. Realized it might just be the module, but it came with all the mounting hardware and controller board, even spare lens! Only thing I had to replace was the power supply which was meant for another country.
    So far, no issues, engraves and cuts way better than the standard LM2 5.5w module.
    Only grudge is the mounting of controller board. Gonna try and come up with some 3D printed part to make it more secure.

    Nothing worse than a bald man with sunburn. Worst pain I have ever had. :) I HAVE been waiting for this so thanks. I am looking forward to getting one at some point. Last time I checked they were still sold out of them. Also when I was talking with the company about this head I discovered that it is NOT compatible with the z-axis adapter they sell for the other heads. Hopefully they will come out with one that fits it. Those are really nice.

    Hi Rich, thanks for this video, great content. I've been thinking of upgrading and have been intouch with Ortur to ask a few questions as the info on various sites aren't great. I have the Z axis lifter so will need an adapter plate which according to Ortur isn't available.
    I would have had the circuit board in a case and then mount at the back, as a former electronics engineer the cable management is bad, it really irritates me. I'm used to looming cables and took pride in lacing cables as we didn't use ties. They should design with more thought about retro fitting upgrades.

    Hi Rich, Your 10W laser module review was great. I have 2 questions. 1. The instruction sheet says to go to laser GRBL, go to configuration, and change the value of $131 to 390. Also, there is a push button switch on the top of the module next to the cable that plugs into the module which seems to do nothing. Do you know what this switch is for? Thank You for your help.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      $131 is the max travel on the Y Axis, and depending on your model, it may need to be changed. There is no switch that I know of on the module. There's the plug for the power and the plug for the air assist line.

    Great review. Since I'm originally from Louisiana and grew up fishing in Plaquemines Parish for speckled trout and redfish I love to see some fishing videos. So I recently purchased the Aufero 2 as an intro laser to learn about them. I using Lightburn since it seems to have many more compatible file types. My biggest issue is the fumes. I live in MN and of course, it's -8 degrees currently outside so opening windows to exhaust the fumes is not possible. What is the best solution in your opinion??

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my other shop I have an exhaust fan that vents to the outdoors. At the wall, where it passes through, I have a fitting that only allows one way of flow, and I have it wrapped in insulation. This is the best solution IMO. It's sort of like a dryer vent.

    I have also the Ortur 5.5W head and when I use it to engrave ceramic tiles with the Norton method, blacks are much blacker than with the 10W head, even using it at 100% power. Most of the images engraved with the 10W head, whatever power or speed I use, are grey. Instead, with wood I got excellent results. Do you have an idea of what happens? What bothers me about Ortur is the fact that they throw this module on the market without sufficient background information on the compatibility of previous models. e.g. Can I use the module on my LM2 Pro S2? Do I have to use this included universal board? Do I need a different power supply for it? Can I continue to use my purchased Z-axis height adjustment? rather than spending $250 on the cheesy rube goldburg tie the board on the side approach I purchased a 'refurbished' lm2 pro s2. this lets you slide on a new gantry and 10a laser module, but most importantly you get the s2 control module and cable set to replace the old lm2 pro module and cable. a much cleaner approach for a few dollars more.

    I'm under the impression that you do not need to go through the Universal Adapter Board or use the extra Power Source if you have the 24 Volt Ortur LM2 Pro, yet the several videos I have seen all show them being connected via the Adapter without mentioning that they are connecting to a 12 Volt System. I just connected mine directly to the Laser Module. Am I wrong?

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I was concerned about this, since mine seems to be running just fine connected directly to the "L" Connector(I'm using a 24v 3amp Power Adapter derived from (24v/10w=2.4amps). I had read somewhere during the early promotion of the LU2-10A that it was for the 24 volt system and that they were coming out with an adapter to support the 12 Volt Systems. Since no where on the Internet nor the Owner's Manuel does it say this and now you are confirming it, I contacted Ortur and Gil replied that the OLM2 Pro S2 (and only the S2) is connected directly to the "L" connector and you will need a 24v 4amp Power Adapter.

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks! After watching both of these videos twice and running the ramp test, I've made a little progress. I can now cut 1.5mm basswood with 1 pass at 360 & 100% I looked at the lens but I'm not sure how to tell if it is perfectly clean. The tube and the orange cover are clean. For my ramp test, I elevated one end of the wood 8mm. I ran it 3 times, once focusing with the kickstand on the far left, once in the middle, and once at the far right. All three passes resulted in the focus position being the thinnest line. I did notice that you have Constant Power Mode turned on, so I turned that on, but I'm still nowhere near cutting through 3mm ply. I am using air assist. I've cut at 300, 200, 100, and 50 all 100% and the wood is barely scored. If you closed your eyes and ran your finger over the 'engraving' you wouldn't feel anything. I cleaned everything again and ran the test over with a 1 mm lower focus. Same result.

I've tried a couple of different types of plywood (one being birch) but the results are the same. I can cut through the thin (1.5 - 2mm) DollarTree basswood at 400 speed 100% in 1 pass.
