I am from the UK. I was born with hip dysplasia and wasn’t diagnosed till I was 3 years old, my parents didn’t put me through the surgeries when I was young, so I am still living with it today! I hope to get surgery on them soon as I am getting a lot of pain and a curved spine, thank you so much for sharing your story xxxx

Thank you so much for sharing this. This was the only video I could find of someone going through the same thing as I am.
I’m fifteen and from Denmark, and got diagnosed with hip dysplasia in both hips in fall of 2018. My mom has had the Ganz surgery in both sides, and I’m gonna have it sometime in the future as well when my hips are more worn out, just because they’re such big surgeries, there’s no need for them if I don’t feel like it’s unbearable anyway.
Loved watching your video, hope you’re having an amazing day❤️

Thank you for sharing your story, I would love to see another video about the surgery process. I'm in Canada, 30 years old, and my story is much similar to yours, however my pain didn't start until I was 21. I'm on a waitlist just to see a surgeon. I've seen two surgeons in the last who both also said too young and never directly even mentioned hip displaysia, I had to figure that one out for myself. I'm nearly cried when you said you ran after your dog. I used to run as a teenage and would give anything in the world to run again, it's the only thing that helps me release energy. Thanks again for sharing!

My hip pain did not start until I was 41 years old. I was always very active. It took a year to see a surgeon. She told me that I had hip dysplasia, but did not need surgery yet. Now I do, and am waiting. I am 43 years old, and live in Canada....hip dysplasia sucks. I have no cartilage left in my right hip. :(

Hey Jess! I'm so glad you've shared your experience, doing some research right now it's mostly dogs and babies that I have found! so your video s very helpful! for ages I have had problems with my hips and never been to sure what it has been (even since I've been a child I've always walked a bit funny but not sure why?! ) lol I do have a few videos myself! but after such a long time and a long process I finally got some MRI results yesterday the guy explaining them only said it on the phone I have to wait for the copy on paper! but he exaplained it as hip undercoverage which he said is only "mild" I never used to get severe sharp pain at school but always struggled with physical activity and thought it was for other reasons! but now I go to the gym it's made me a lot more aware of what's going on and made me want to fix my problems more. Slightly different to yourself I only started the gym at 21, I'm now 24 but as this was my first time doing anything that wasn't at school it has been so frustrating to learn I can't be the same as everyone else or make the same progress, the harder I try the worse it seems to be for me. Going back to the MRI the guy who referred me didn't even want to refer me! after doing a lot of research I came to my own conclusion (along with assistance of my personal trainer thankfully, trying to constantly help me find corrective exercises and mobility drills to try and see if anything would fix why I couldn't get into certain possitions) that I did have some kind of impingement as I kept getting sharp pains! so now the results are out it's crazy that it'ssomething I've never really come across before but good to know I was along the right lines. Saying what I have is mild from my scan, the guy on the phone (who is supposedly a specialist) really didn't go into details and just skimmed over it, right now as I'm sitting I can't explain it's not seriously sharp pain but it's something that I can feel and gets so much worse whilst walking and after walking, sometimes depending on the activity it can hurt badly upto a week after! Through google I've come to my own conclusion what the gyu said it is hip dysplasia! and in both hips as well. I am convinced there would be some sort of exercises out there to help me but I'm currently working on harrassing the doctors to find me the right physiotherapist (': ! a very long message from me and it might be in a confused order but I'm just trying to find out the most I can right now, as I'm finding it pretty impossible to find anything to work with here. Brilliant video and I'm so glad you're getting better, would love to know how you are getting on now?! xxx

I have what I like to call Frankenstein hip dysplasia, when I was born it was just a dislocated which would have been easily fixed but they misdiagnosed it as hip dysplasia. At 18 months I had my first surgery I was in my cast for 6 months because they didn’t understand why my hip wasn’t getting better. My doctors kind of gave up on me, and I didn’t get a new doctor for my hip until I was 8 that’s when they found out about the misdiagnosis and such. My right hip sits about an inch and half higher than my other, it often pops out of place ( my hip is being held by my muscles so it kind of shifts instead necessarily popping out of a socket) causing excruciating pain. Because I have one leg shorter than the other my spine curves slightly and my pelvis is tilted. Every time I go to the doctors for my hip I get looked at a fantastic thing to put on their resumes if they can actually fix me, but at 18 years old I have no expectations on getting a surgery anytime soon. I try not to let this affect me, I work a very physically demanding job and go to school full time, but I’ve never met someone who’s gone through the same thing as me..

I'm almost 30 and I was finally diagnosed 2 years ago after multiple dislocations. I have it in reverse in both hips. I use crutches and a wheelchair. I'm seeing a new surgeon next month for hopefully a double full replacement. I have arthritis like I'm almost 60. I'm glad someone finally listened to you. I've been told for 15 years I'm too young or too old for relief. Thanks for sharing!

I'm 33 and I was also told I'm too old for PAO and too young for THR. I finally found a doctor who would operate on me but I'm trying PT first to see if it can help because I'm really scared to have surgery and lose muscle during the recovery period (I'm a bodybuilder.)

Shelbi Cook just saw your response. I'm 22 years old and was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when I was a freshman in high school. Best decision I ever made was to have the hip dysplasia surgery & it has completely improved my quality of life! Let me know if you have any other questions I can answer 🙂

I was diagosised at 4 months old though they think I've had it since birth. At i think my 14th surgery (i've had many more though) they saw i had arthritis at aged 12 :( I've been in and out of the hospital my whole life so yeah the pain and limping and scars are very normal for me at-least. I have to get a hip replacement in 10 years (im 16) So yeah im just trying to be an active sporty girl that gets some pain haha. Really cool to think im not alone :))
