Talk Talk - Tomorrow Started (Live at Montreux)

  • Live at Montreux 1986 is a concert video release by the British synth pop band Talk Talk of a concert at 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The show was part of a tour that started in April 1986 to promote the band's recent album The Colour of Spring, and was to be their only appearance at Montreux, from their last tour.
For this tour, the usual trio of Mark Hollis (vocals), Paul Webb (bass), and Lee Harris (drums) was augmented by John Turnbull on guitar, two percussion players, and two keyboard players. As often, de facto fourth band member Tim Friese-Greene did not play on stage with the band.
    :: Tomorrow Started ::
Don't look back until you try
a line so openly a lie,
    Outside of you,
    it's just tomorrow starting
I've said I'm wrong when I've been right.
I've seen times when I've been sure
    but still I find
I'm just the first that you take
    are there reasons everybody pays?
They never seem to be any use
They never seem to be any use
    it's just tomorrow starting
Don't look back until you've tried.
    With time you'll endlessly arrive
    outside of use,
    with just tomorrow starting
    See my eyes
    tell me I'm not lying.
I'm just the first that you take
    are there reasons everybody pays?
They never seem to be any use
They never seem to be any use
    It's just tomorrow starting

The day Mark Hollis died, I couldn't go to work - it was an absolutely devastating and a terrible loss. That voice - man alive; I still cry my eyes out listening to him sing; but it's worth it. I can truly say I got to experience this genius in his and my lifetime. It's lovely to know so many people are discovering Talk Talk for the first time.

They kinda went under the radar for me in the 80s. I knew their songs but it wasn't until his death and did some research on them that I realised how good they really were. His vocals are so good and distinctive.

Damien songs from the kitchen He died on Feb 24 2019 not 25th, could have even been 23. A twitter post on the 24th around 2PM England time posted by a family friend stated it was cancer. Short illness chemo flu or? Privacy was probably highest priority for family. Unfair to fans who needed closure, but understandable. Rest in Spirit Mark Hollis...I will never forget you. 🦋🦋🦋

I will never be able to find the words to describe how important for me is this wonderful band, this wonderful song... I have heard it thousand of times, but I can't get tired of it, of this band and the gorgeus voice of Mark Hollis. Without any doubt, one of the greatest pop bands of all times, one of the 80's essentials. I love you, Talk Talk.

Welcome (8 years later) to the phenomenal Mark and Talk Talk! I fell in love in 1982 when song Talk Talk was out, but I heard Have you Heard the News and listened to that album TPO over and over. Now, in 2021 I said I should check out TT now that TH-cam's here and man, it opened a whole new deal for me...but also learned of his passing too.

Great quality recording. I've been telling people for over 30 years that Mark Hollis's music was way ahead of anything else in terms of technical and harmonic originality, and in 2015 it sounds every bit as rich and original as it did when it was first written.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Beyond words, what a gift, one of the songs of my life, it goes so deep under your skin. It hurts me not to be able to jump back to that time with such great artists like Marc was. Just for a day, wouldn’t that be great ? I was a teenager in the 80ies, only now i know how precious that time period was…

I'll drink to that. We belong to such a fortunate era. I took Talk Talk for granted in my youth. Now, and so grateful I grew up during an era when this calibre of music was produced. My kingdom for a time machine, just for one day to attend a Talk Talk concert.

Le meilleur titre de tous les temps, inegalable dans sa mélancolie sprituelle, une voix divine qui te transporte de l'autre côté du miroir, là où est la paix, l'amour, la beauté.
    Merci à jamais Mark Hollis.💞
