- Within the Celtic Wheel of the Year, Lughnasadh is the time of the first harvest - the harvest of grain and first fruits. As with all of the Celtic Fire Festivals on the Wheel, a bonfire is lit to acknowledge the power of the sun in ripening the grain and swelling the fruits.
Unfortunately, there are some who think it would be a good idea to block the life giving rays of the sun. You can read more here.

Earlier in spring we had a heat wave and I just wanted the sun to go away it was too hot to go outside but having such cloudy weather all summer and seeing how the plants haven’t grown to be as healthy has changed my mind totally! I love the sun and treasure every moment of it these days thinking of the plants🌱 also your dress is wonderful☀️🦋
It was very hot here at times in June and then rain and wind throughout July. It is very changeable. Thank you re dress, I just made this since last week xx

Terri, I am fairly well, but there is a sorrow on my heart. I get this from watching your videos, reading and transcribing Con's Ogamnua and everything I've learned about environmental science over the last 45 years. We must plan and treat our land as though there will be seven generations living upon it. And if we want to have an environment that our children's great-grandchildren can be able to grow their crops and their livestock, we can no longer act as a species as though we have dominion over Nature. There is a natural ebb and flow of temperatures across the Globe, and has been over the years; yet the pace of human development without affordable housing, a lack of compassion for the needs of others, and unchecked consumption of everything our Grandmother Earth contains... we will not be handing our children's great-grandchildren an environment capable of sustaining life. And Ireland, the land that I love and miss will not be exempt from this reckoning. (P.s. this Béarla translation is for those who don't speak Gaeilge or speak it well)

Happy (belated) Lughnasadh Terri and LOL and ALL 🌞. We have SO much sun in FL and heatwave after heatwave of record-breaking temperatures since Feb! I have a very small harvest, but my Dandelions are very happy! You are absolutely right about these 'crazies' who are working AGAINST humanity. Their time and schemes are about to be revealed to humanity as a whole. We've lived through the 'worst of times', and it will be people like us who will be the forerunners of the 'best of times'! We have the fire and earth in the heart ❤️.

Good morning, from the States, and thank you for another beautiful and educational video. We all must prepare for a long term change in precipitation across the globe due to the Honga Tonga volcano that evaporated a volume of sea water the size of Germany into the stratosphere. The humidity will affect what we normally grow in our gardens. Our tomatoes just up and died suddenly after going from green to yellow almost overnight, so I suspect fungus was among-us, lol. Plants that like sandy dry soils like lavender are going to have to get a special treatment to save them. It has been snowing in the Alps all summer long, and it snowed in the San Juan mountains of southern Colorado yesterday...in Lugh. Last winter, snow fell in such vast amounts in southern California that it caved in roofs. No one knows how long it will take for the extra water vapor to completely fall from the stratosphere because we have never experienced this sort of eruption TO OUR KNOWLEDGE before. Honestly, it was only captured because there are so many weather satellites these days. Beware of "experts" claiming anthroprogenic global warming. The excess moisture in the stratosphere will elevate temperatures, but the Earth has been cooling for over 30 years. God created a self-controlling Earth that self-corrects without man's involvement. We are adaptable creatures and must apply our wisdom to roll with the changes. So certain types of grains may do better in a wetter environment, and we certainly can find ways to raise them. This is a sudden change we must deal with, and we can...without out ridiculous ideas like trying to blot out the sun.
I didn't know about this - now it all falls into place. but you are right, we are adaptable, roll with the changes and no situation lasts for ever. You are right about grains too - wheat does not like wet environments and does not grow well in Ireland anyway but oats do well here. Thanks for sharing this and I am always sceptical in regard to "experts"😂 xx

I would love to help but there is no simple quick fix. The best thing to do would be to find a herbalist or naturopath where you are living and they can support you day to day and week to week. Good luck. I would also speak to your doctor about reducing the dose and getting to the root cause of your problem rather than you just throwing drugs at it. xx

What an awfully unbalanced climate we’re starting to experience. You see, you won’t have a good harvest because of the excess of rain. By our side, we, here in Spain, have had a terrible yield due to the intense drought we’re going through.

@@dd7521yes I find it shocking that so few see it. I spend so much time outdoors and it’s so very obvious to me. Most never really look up and focus their attention on the sky, not even farmers and country folk. This year has been the worse so far, it’s daily in the south east 0f England. It has definitely affected my veggie growing and my mood. I love the sun.

That was great! Once again I learned something from you. I hope your harvest turns out better than you might be expecting, considering weather that isn't perfect. Here my garden is looking pretty good now in mid-August. I see a great winter squash crop already ripening up. My dahlias are performing fairly well this year and there are flowers blooming all over the garden. These past few days this valley has been completely choked with forest fire smoke which is hard to take. So many hundreds of fires burning now throughout this province of British Columbia, some of those fires massive and out of control. It seems the world's climate is making things more difficult for a lot of us and nature. That thing about blocking out the sun . . . I heard of that a while back . . . all I can do is shake my head, hoping people in power won't be that foolish. Weather modification though has been happening for quite a few decades already with scientists performing experiments that have affected our complete atmosphere. Let's hope we have a good autumn with a sufficient harvest to get us all through. Cheers!

It must be frightening and make you angry to think they could be avoided if the forests were managed properly. Someone mentioned that firelines used to be organised to prevent this happening?? Love your work, I’m so inspired by your films ( love the way you say that word) so I made tincture from dandelions, have no clue for who or what - was just so inspirered starting in may 2023. I just went to a woman’s gathering for 4 day with woman in Belgium loved to send you a little film… I did workshops about the flower energy and tree enery ( the workshops given by very young woman) so after 4 days of beautiful enery ( new Earth energy) I stopped drinking alcohol… so I guess the tincture could help my liver to recover from the daily to glasses of wine ?

Another wonderful chapter. Terry, have you heard about this recent scientific study that shows certain fragrances, like lavender and rosemary, inhaled before bedtime actually increase memory? I thought of this while you created your dream pillows.
I knew that Rosemary improved memory and can even help with memory loss but didn't know that about Lavender. Thanks for sharing xx
We finally got our hay in last week after months of rain. Blackberries not ripe yet, but I will be making blackberry vodka and later on sloe gin. I'm in Warwickshire England

Lughnasadh blessings to you both .The difference between your garden and ours is noticable all your lush growth whereas ours is burnt off .Where sun and rain are in balance we're all happy,in area's where the summers are becoming very much hotter and drier it is a problem......temperatures her next week are forecast to be 37c. The sun deflection plan is not a European parliament proposal it's an International one that the EU is appraising, to me it sounds like science fiction,but to countries that are increasingly hot and short of water it may have merit.I fear that in the future war may be fought over water.
I must disagree Mary, interfering with the Sun, our source of life and well being on so many levels has no merit whatsoever. This is the arrogance of men with too much money who think they can make decisions without consulting other people on the planet. If certain people hadn't interfered with the weather in the first place. If certain people bothered to look at and consider the delicate balance of earth, air and water there would not be a problem. If places are getting burned up because of a hot dry summer, perhaps they need to replace the shade-bearing trees that have been removed for large mono-crop agriculture or to allow the drones to see what is happening on farmers' land. There is always a man-made problem - usually caused by greed - to account for any problems we are experiencing, we only have to look at the history of the Dustbowl in the 1930s and to see what happened in parts of Africa when colonisers thought they could just exploit the vast swathes of land they grabbed. Hopefully your fears of war over water will not come to pass - after all, water cannot escape the planet, it will be evaporated in one place and come down somewhere else. Don't worry xx

I just came in from a project in the garden, as the melodious rolling thunder clouds just brought a welcomed summertime downpour of rain, as the afternoon sunbeams shine through the raindrops and treetops of our Pine and Cedar forest..... A wonderful pause and such sweet inspiration, to go to a shelf of jars of lavender, etc. and assemble a few pouches of dream time delights......

Love your hair color it’s so beautiful. Where we live we can’t have fires because of the winds and them causing forest fires. But, I will burn a few candles for it. Do you have any natural remedies to get rid of crickets by the droves? They have eaten almost everything in my garden. ❤❤
We don't have crickets so I don't know - although Peppermint oil is reputedly good at repelling ants and mice, maybe give it a try. Burning candles is a good idea when you can't have a bonfire xx

Happy Lughnasadh! In my part of the world it's the tomato harvest (one of my favorite times). How fitting- tomatoes thrive on sun and heat. I've been preserving tomatoes and sauce to remember the sun all year long! There's nothing like homemade sauce and whole tomatoes.
Sounds great! You are right, eating semi dried tomatoes in the winter months is such a treat. Opening a jar of sauce and that smell .....mmmm! xx

Thank you for another beautiful visit. It is disheartening when our harvest expectations are dashed. I guess it pushes us to be flexible and resourceful. We’ve had very little rain: A prolonged drought which meant only one cut of hay instead of two. Water conservation orders have been in effect for a month and continue until we get the rain back. Yet the blackberries are so abundant and so much jam was made. I recently came across a mugwort plant and I was so drawn to it and the grower gave me a bit of it and it’s taken off in my garden. It really called out to me and I couldn’t refuse! Cheers.🐇💕
Mugwort is so magical and is a wonderful ally for women. Our Blackberries are coming along lovely - lots of jam to be making shortly xx

Have you grown pink peony poppies ? ... The flowers have a nice fragrance and last longer than other poppies.
I love Peonies but they don't do well for me because of the wind I suspect. Haven't heard of Peony Poppies, sounds intriguing. xx

Hello Teri, lovely video surrounded by colour of natural earthy beauty. Sunlight or rain the earth looks wonderful. How can anyone seriously consider blocking the sun.Mad cap schemers always come undone.
This talk of climate change etc, they blame air pollution each country names another , no one ever considers that perhaps war military bombs exploding into earth and sea for hundreds of years or trying out nuclear weapons launching into various oceans and seas might have something more to to with it. Oh no the answer as far as they are concerned is let's send more rockets equipment out into the universe to stop the sun shining. Who are these people who want world and now space domination. Progress it certainly is not. I totally agree with you and many of your viewers.

Its great that you get people thinking about the need for well being on our planet....but some many just want to go on about loving mother earth, without telling people what we need to do to save her.
A huge culprit in the environment crisis/global warming is meat production and factory farming....not to mention the cruel conditions that billions of animals are kept and killed in.
Sadly, people don't want to face the fact that we must change if we are to have a healthy plant, and moving to a more plant based diet is one of the most important things the average person can do to help our planet. Could you please do a video to educate on this subject?
First of all I can only express my own opinion and people should no more listen to me than they listen to anyone. Everyone knows deep down what must be done, nobody needs to have anyone telling them. Our own authority is all we need to listen to.
As for meat production I agree that the factory system in the west is incredibly cruel and the old saying - if abattoirs were made of glass, nobody would eat meat - is so true. But like everything, this is a topic that is not black and white as there are many nuances to consider. I definitely agree that the industrial scale is horrific and should be stopped. All animals have a right to a pain free and fear free life and I would say we should return to small mixed farms that serve their local environment and there is a place for animals in that, as they are part of the eco system. I recommend Isabella Tree's "Rewilding" book and a look at permaculture. I agree that a plant based diet is much more healthy, especially with all the drugs that poor animals are pumped full of and I do not think there is any need to consume meat three times a day or even three times a week. I believe all beings are sentient and that includes plants. Everything must be held in balance xx

I believe lack of sunny late summers is one of the reasons growing potatoes became so popular. I have very vivid dreams. Some good, some upsetting. Last night dreaming of sharing some rye bread with soft cheese and pickled beets with friends. I could feel the softness of the bread.
